Fun Fact: If you had been playing a NG+ file you would've had access to the secret 5th shrine just outside of Ymir which features the games super boss (a really nasty Magic Knight). While it isn't the most plot relevant encounter, you'll meet that Magic Knight again in a couple games and the fight will get referenced then.

"Man, this really is playing out just like the war of the lions"
It's almost like Driechels was the protagonist of a past RPG or something.
Seriously, there's strong language to indicate that there are a dozen JRPGs that occur off screen or in the past. War of the lions, Cassius Bright, the first hunt for the D*G Cult, and a bunch others, too.

    • @giuseppeparry1365
      @giuseppeparry1365 Месяц назад +2

Since they seem to be rushing the series to an end leaving Eastern Zemuria pretty much unseen, future prequels and sidequels would be honestly highly welcomed. Maybe once they've finished the series' continuity for a while, made a few new IPs and found a secure financial footing that doesn't just rely on Ys, they can return to Zemurian countries we never get to explore in the initial continuity.

    • @joaocbcneto
      @joaocbcneto Месяц назад +1

@@giuseppeparry1365 I think it's less rushing and more that Kondo seems to be trying to actively stop the devs and writers from splitting games or having an arc drag out too long, Cold steel being 4 games and a Crossbell combo epilogue was the last straw for him it seems, since he keeps mentioning it as something they want to avoid every interview.
We've know even before the stuff with Daybreak 2's sales that Falcom said we had three arcs left after Cold steel, Daybreak (Calvard) was the first of those and Falcom seems to be aiming for Duologies like Crossbell with room for a trilogy if they need it which is what ended up happening with Calvard.

If you had taken Gaius and Sara to the priest-chasing-sidequest, they would have confirmed that not only was Father Barkhorn indeed the priest who came to Nord to tutor Gaius, but also that his nickname was "The Roaring Lion", who was mentioned in the Salt Pale report as being the Dominion who came to investigate that particular incident.
Did you explore the highway near Trista? It had the magical equivalent of the Domination quartz, which doubles the power of the first art you throw at the enemy. Quite useful on Elliot or Emma.
"How did Machias not survive that?" Assuming you maintained Machias' starting Master Quartz on him; it reduces the damage he takes based on how high his HP is. When he's at max HP, he can easily tank even an S-craft, but as it gets lower, he'll start taking normal damage again. So you want whoever has that MQ to always be at or near max health. It does have great synergy with the Artemis Tears Lost Art.

For what it's worth, on my first playthru, that Black Millium fight probably gave me the most grief too. Well, that and the early one against Zephyr, but that one wasn't hard to win, but hard to get the bonus bp for. The fight itself isn't the worst per say, it's just her S-craft just screwed me over more than other fights where the boss uses s-crafts for some reason. Hers just seemed to hit that little bit harder and was just t hat little bit less predictable, etc.

2:20 Yeah, this is probably the silliest line in the game (not the silliest *moment* as I'm sure you're aware since you've been through the Infernal Castle, but up there). "We're neutral but we only ever fight one side." Neutral parties don't fight. At all. Because if they do, they get targeted by both sides, because neither side wants to risk having a combatant party which refuses to make their alignment clear around. I can imagine Sean Chiplock needing several takes to say this line with a straight face and serious tone.
13:52 Okay never mind, THIS is silly.
49:52 It's funny how Fie's implied to have a crush on Cedric since, as I'm sure you've heard, Fie shares her VA with Cedric's sister Alfin. So it's almost like she has a crush on her brother... Oh god, now XSeed's getting in on it!
(Oh yeah, also sadly coming to the end of the last Falcom game to be localised by XSeed. It's been fun guys. Your chest messages brought so many smiles to people's faces.)
And the Trails tradition of the final dungeon popping up out of nowhere in a cinematic cutscene continues!

Oh boy, no rest for the weary huh, and there's a lot to cover.... In the optional part anyway.
    - After the battle for the academy, everyone is partying at night and enjoying the moments they have here while they still can, after all, they were entrusted with quite the important mission the next day. By the way, one of the reason I can think of for why they do the flashback thing to explain something instead of doing things chronologically is to make you curious about it, generally before the flashback occurs, you have a line implying about something that happened off-screen, so when they flashback to it, you're more curious about what was said in it than if they just did that firsthand, it highlights that particular moment and make it more important. Anyway, as we learn in said flashback, the imperial army request our help to liberate the capital, more specifically, the Karel Imperial Villa, a residence of the imperial family surrounded by cliffs that makes it a perfect spot to hide VIPs since it's near inaccessible by land, and in fact, that's where the imperial family, Governor Regnitz and Elise are all detained there, so they can use our help to liberate this particular spot since we have an airship and so can travel by air to the place.
    - ...Yeah, since you brought it up, I'll talk about it as well, one of the biggest criticism this game receives is about the stance of Class VII in all of this, they specifically went out of their way to be a third faction, separate from the nobles and reformists; but when you look at their actions throughout the game, you notice that they mainly help the reformists against the Nobles, so they're not really neutral after all. However, I'll argue that class VII isn't neutral, they're a third faction, there's a significant difference there, neutral means you aren't helping either sides, a third faction is.... Well, a third faction, with goals and objectives differing from the other factions, but that doesn't mean they can't cooperate with each other;the Sidequests showed that quite well with peacekeeping missions and ensuring the safety of the civilians sometimes directly from the army like for the Anton quest; but even then, in the story's big operations, most times, they helped the reformists by pure happenstance: for the jammer at Nord, they disabled it in order to help the people of Nord, and during the misison, they accidentally liberated the watchtower, which helped the 3rd's position there; for the Twin dragons bridge, all they wanted was to rescue Fiona, not because she was the general's daughter, but because she was a civilian who was dragged into the war through no fault of their own, and they launched their operation at the same time as the 4th by coincidence and they indirectly helped liberate the bridge for them; in Roer, they went to rescue Irina, a member of the board of directors and a neutral party in this who was imprisoned against her will, and to help Angelica in her family matters, and the consequences of that were the withdrawal of the Nortia province from the war, which greatly benefited the 3rd; the case of Duke Albarea was the only one where they directly collaborated with the imperial army (the 4th and the RMP), and that's because the Duke committed several war crimes and needed to be apprehended immediately, and technically we also cooperated with the Nobles, as Rufus gave us the go ahead to arrest him and guaranteed no alliance interference for this mission; and for Trista, no one was involved in anything, except the RMP giving us the opportinity for the crimson wings to do the liberation themselves since they were going to do that anyway; so no, in my opinion, they have maintained their status of third faction, it's just that the pursuit of their own goals indirectly helped the reformists (and while it's true that some of the party members wanted to make their lives easier since they're related to them, it wasn't the main objective). And it's the same here, while it's indeed the reformists making the request of helping them liberate the capital; not only do they not go on the front lines and instead go liberate the imperial family, who was caught up in this feud against their will, Elise, who's Rean's objective since the Prologue, and the gouvernor, who's a member of the board of directors and was also imprisoned against his will; but it also comes from the common desire of all to end the war as soon as possible, I mean think about it, would you rather cooperate and help bring the war to a close quickly, or not taking sides and watch as the war drags in even longer as a result ? Especially considering the news coming from Crossbell, speaking of which........
    - Lechter is back baby, after dealing with the incident in Crossbell, he was able to return to Erebonia and access the intelligence division's network again; the Azure Tree is now gone which is why he returned, and with that, Azure has officially ended at this point yes, and you also have a timeline for how much time has passed, the Tree appeared the 26th in the early afternoon, and it disappeared around the 30th during the day, so the SSS spent around 4 days clearing that dungeon, which I can't blame them considering the size of it XD; but yeah, with it gone, Crossbell no longer poses a threat, and just like last time we brought up the topic, the most pressing concern isn't to occupy it, it's that Calvard could take advantage of that and take Crossbell for themselves, and without Garrelia Fortress at the border, use it as a foothold to launch an attack on Erebonia while they're too busy on their social squabbles, keep in mind that Calvard is still currently preoccupied with their economic crisis and terrorism, but now that the Crossbell's situation has resolved, they'll most certainly recover sooner rather than later; which is why it's essential for the civil war to come to a close quickly before we have a foreign invasion on top of it all.

      - But all this serious talk can wait for tomorrow, for now, PARTYING!!!!! WE DERSERVE IT! everyone scattered to enjoy the evening: Jusis and Paula let the horses rest in the stable for the night; Lambert reunited with Whitcomb; Fie checked on the flowers she planted before she left that Edel took care of in her absence; the lacrosse club is back together again, which moves Theresia to tears and makes Emily really happy while Alisa and Ferris continues their rivalry, Patrick still want a revenge when the war's over but he'll give his full cooperation for the upcoming operation, Célestin is serving hot drink and is proud of how Patrick has grown; Laura and Monica reminisce in the gymnasium together while Klein and Casper do the same at the lower dorm; Beryl is sketchy as always XD; the lower chess club was actually kept from closing by the upper students, which moves Machias and Stefan; Emma ditched Dorethee to go check the old Schoolhouse (nothing has happened since fortunately), while she left Celine there to be tormented by her upperclassman's newfound vigor upon reuniting with her prized collection; the student council is helping Towa prepare for tomorrow's operation; Instructor Makarov and Mary are pushed together by Mint and they spend some time drinking tea; Schmidt is sitting in a quite corner of the courtyard readying himself for the completion of the prototype tomorrow morning with the help of another assistant, who ? well, you see; the principal and Beatrix have much to think about regarding the war, being as they are army veterans, and especially for Vandyck who just learned the death of his friend Otto (yeah it was mentionned in the last game 😔), but they both wishes us luck for the operation tomorrow, Alfin is also there because she'll be staying here now and won't be the Courageous anymore, sad but logical giving where we're headed; Gaius is happy to be back at the art room, while Clara just finished the sculpture she spent two weeks creating.... and she goes right back to another one XD; Nicholas is preparing something good for tonight and Millium wnet to search for ingredients but she dozes off on a bench; Linde and Vivi are having a heart-to heart as twins🥺; Alan and Bridget spend some quality time together on the roof, and the latter realizes the feelings she has toward him, Rosine reunites with the town's children and is also moved to tears, Colette found her shopping buddy, Vincent is once again harassed by Margarita with Sariffa enjoying this way too much; the musician we keep seeing and who helped during the Celdic concert is also here, helping the festivities with his music; Hugo and Becky watch from afar and hope the war will be over soon so they can compete again, Friedel and Loggins does as well while they compliment the first years for the progress they made, even if it angers the latter to admit that for Patrick; Kenneth goes to fish into the river all night; Fidelio and Rex are taking photos everywhere and the latter is happy that girls are voluntarily asking him to take pictures of her XD; Hibelle and Elliot are playing the violin in the church, Sara is having a drink with her colleague Thomas and Heinrich, and while the latter can't hold his drink for shit, the former wanted to invite Neithardt but it's difficult given that he's preparing for Tomorrow's operation, so Sara just hope that the other instructors comes soon 😅; Munk is happy to back in radio Trista again, and the radio station director is preparing something big, a broadcast of truth after being restricted by the alliance for so long; Micht was passing infos on what's happening onto the principal and is also happy.... I think; And overall, the townfolks are happy to have us back after the alliance had a run of the place for so long; though Claire's adjudant of the RMP is also here to remind us that they still preparing in the background, they're moving high-speed vehicles into the station and the 4th will be moving into the town tomorrow morning, so let's enjoy it while we still can; so let's continue with the mandatory stuff.
      - The proto Class VII group are hanging in the rooftop and Rean thank them for everything while promising to them that he'll drag Crow back and force him to graduate with them....... Which sound pretty impossible given all the shit he's done and many criticized Rean for being naive to even think that...............but I guess the fact that they're still kids being hopeful doesn't amount to anything for them and that they were quite happy with how things turned out in the Finale huh. And Valimar is guarding the west exit leading to Heimdallr, the theater of tomorrow's operation, he's indeed starting to talk more Normally than before, and he recovered fragments of his past memories, notably, that his previous awakened was none other than Dreichels Reise Arnor, the one and only, and we get direct confirmation from Valimar instead of the visions of the shrines, it seems he followed a path very similar to our own: gathering ore to forge his weapons and preparing for the assaly in the capital where he put the war to rest, he also describes Dreichels and it's funny you compare him to Olivier because Bleublanc did the same comparison in the Intermission and it's true their background are eerily similar: a bastard child with no claim to the throne, though as Rean said, he plans to do things differently from Dreichels (and btw, don't worry about still calling him Olivier, everyone who started with Sky does this as well, it's rather those who started with Cold Steel who calls him Olivert more often XD; Rean compares himself to Dreichels, how he wish he could be more like him and how he surely haven't handled this as well as he did, but Valimar does indeed make a point that he shouldn't compare himself to Dreichels and trying to be like him, he has different strengths than him as well as people already willing to fight at his side, better to improve yourself than trying to become someone you're not.
      - And it's finally time for the bonding events, to spend the last moments of the evening reminiscing in the dormitory with the special someone......... And by lack of choice, Sara was the only option, goddammit, it's Persona 5 all over again XD. Just like last time, I won't talk about all of them, but I recommend unlocking them all because some has interesting infos in them, like Millium
      - The next morning, the last day of 1204 : December 31st, time to depart after Schmidt finalized the tachi with the help of George and..... Makarov?! Yeah, turns out he was also an apprentice of him who ran away form the institute because he couldn't stand this guy XD; but yeah, it's done and Valimar and the tachi are resonating with one other, which means we finally have a chance against Crow; but before we go, a few word from the Principal and Alfin after Sara gave us all Thors armbands; making us remember what was said at the entrance ceremony about Dreichels' creed: "Arise I youth, and become the foundation of the world", wishing us well and to all come back alive and safe. And with Towa's order, let's move out!!!
Oh, and we get Rean's second S-craft (about time) : "Termination Slash - Dawn" ; good catch about Arios having a variation of that move because that's exactly right, his S-craft (in the last fight against him anyway) was called "Termination Slash - Black Parago".
      - and with everyone in board, it's time to do the final preparations, so it seems that Contacting the west right now is impossible, as things have became quite hectic, so for the report, we'll have to do with Towa; I'm glad you read these last extermination requests, it's probably the funniest, especially the first one, I just imagine Olivier typing this, then Mueller noticing what's he writing, and quickly push him away to finish the request himself XD; but yeah, let's get to work.
-I'll talk about all the optional stuffs available at this point in the other comment, and believe me, there's A LOT to talk about, to the point that I'm suprised you decided to not include some of the events occuring in it in the video because it was "boring", or maybe you missed it, that can also happen🤷.
      - So yeah, let's skip right to the promised hour, and the clash between the imperial and Provincial armies; Craig fights Bardias and Zechs fight Aurelia, and while the formers returns blow for blow, the latter is a bit one-sided at the moment, with Aurelia moping everything (even slicing in two tank shells) with the goal of being the strongest warrior in history, even the Lance Maiden, and unlike Laura, she has quite the potential to really do so, and she'll start by defeating Zechs here and afterward the Radiant Blademaster, which is quite the thing to proclaim but also quite fitting for the Golden Rakshasa; the alliance's generals are also disappointed that they adversaries don't fight in Soldats, and while Neithardt did have one for the Sidequest, it's still just one, it's not enough against the numbers the alliance has, and the sidequest wasn't to help him piloting it, it was a test in order to optimize their anti-soldat strategies, there's no strategic advantage in using just one soldat in these battles.
      - We finally get to see what's happening in Heimdallr, and the propaganda against the imperial army is still going, but people are not dupe and clearly realize that the Nobles are the traitors here, and the appearance of the Courageous in the sky helps bolster the population and starts to cause an uprising; meanwhile our crew land at the villa, our first time in this place an it's quite charming, surrounded by cliffs and waterfalls at every corner, but no time for that because the imperial guardsmen are here, so we stick to the plan of: Group A goes to the villa while rouo B support the other students against the coming reinforcements from the capital.

      - The dungeon is not really a dungeon honestly, it's relatively brief and it's coherent with the fact that it's not supposed to be a fortress or a big corporate building with security systems; just a locked door with the key on the gazebo a'd a bunch of obstacles in the form of mandatory fightb but anyway, we find all the VIPs at the end, but first, we have to deal with Altina, you fortunately have Millium in the party so she gives additional Infos but otherwise, she does confirm that her and Millium are sisters in a sense, with her being the younger one, and that her model number is Oz74 (which Millium comment that hers is one off mine, so she would be Oz73), furthering the mystery regarding the Orions' origins, though it does seem likely that they aren't exactly human.
      - Now, our final battle with Altina with 2 big golden boys besides her; from now on, the bosses truly deserve the no hold barred treatment, because they don't fuck around, can easily wreck you, and are spongy enough to survive S-crafts spam (especially on Hard/Nightmare); Altina has the same moves as last time with the addition of her S-craft: Ragna Bringer (funny you mentionned Transformers just before and said it doesn't fit Altina because unlike Millium her puppet doesn't transform; welp, as it turns out... Airgetlam and change into a hammer, and Claiomh Solaris can change into a sword😅), and the big golden boys have the same moves they usually have except these ones can also cast Purgatorial Flames, which is practically a one-shot of you don't have an art reflect ready; the most annoying thing of this fight is definitely her black b a r r i e r that can throw you off if you're not careful, her S-craft that can wipe the party if you're not durable enough or if you don't have adamantine shield applied; and the big golden boys applying all kinds of stat downs as well as Faint, Seal and Mute; but the worst has yet to come.
      - So now that it's dealt with, we have the reunion proper, Rean with Elise, Machias with his dad, and the Emperor thanking us and revealing that he too attended Thors, that it's a tradition in the imperial family to attend this school, Olivert did as well and Cedric should also in the near future; and yeah, Alfin won't attend Thors, after all, she's already in another school: St astraia.
      - But Cedric is nowhere to be seen, and we know that since we saw the scene earlier, he's about to be used in a ritual, when you say ? We'll right now, with Vita chanting Lucifen Lied and summoning our equivalent of the Azure Tree in Erebonia: the Infernal Castle; and as you can see by the reaction of everyone, no one in the alliance (including the generals) knew this was gonna happen, only Duke Cayenne and his collaborators (Crow, Zephyr and Ouroboros) knew about this, as well as Rufus. Cayenne has a cryptic line regarding his ancestor that will be explained later, but Rufus also mention something quite interesting: the Black Records; you said you finished the game and you saw the "video", so by now you probably know what he's talking about, including the things he says just after, but on a first playthrough, what he says here doesn't make sense and comes out of nowhere, but we'll come back to it once you post your reaction to the video.
With the emergence of the Infernal castle, Rean will go to it because he can sense Crow calling him; this is the final stage they'll clash on, and all of Class VII and Thors will assist him in his endeavors; before that however, if you collected all the medals from Alfin, the Emperor will give the Grand Cordon; a medal in which that's not its first appearance in the series; you probably didn't do that quest in Sky, but it's one of the things Bleublanc during is numerous heists in SC, where he stole this medal from the Erebonian ambassador on a visit to Bose, and he mention how this medal is a grand prize bestowed on few by the emperor himself, which is coherent with how we receive it here (and btw, as thanks for retrieving the Grand Cordon back to him, the ambassador rewards us with the Eisenritter's medal....... Yep, the Eisenritters were mentionned all the way back in Sky).
And away to the final dungeon we gooooo!!!.....

      Alright, where to begin ?
      - The Last Erebonian tour is long, but also in my opinion the most important one to do, because of several important scenes occurring in it that are completely optional. Let's tackle this like I always done.
      - In the Courageous, every students (Except you-know-who) are present and accounted for, including the stragglers of the order of the lion and the nameless NPCs, and they're readying themselves to assist us at the villa, they'll be distracting the imperial guardsmen while we go save the VIPs, and some are freaking ready, like Friedel, Loggins, Edel, Lambert, Vincent, Patrick (who makes a comment about Elise and who know where it's going XD) and pretty much everyone else, as a reward for recruiting all the students, Towa give the Emblem Master Quartz (the one Angelica has equipped) ; among the the order of the lion, the ones more useful gameplay-wise are Friedel and Edel who are managing the advanced training of close combat and arts respectively, and with that, including the ranged one which we unlocked the advanced training last time by recruiting Theresia, you should have every training available, while the reward for clearing each stages are U-materials, the reward for clearing all the stages of a specific training are Master Quartzes, it's worth the detour: you get Chevalier for close combat, Cypher (the one Crow used in CS1) for ranged, and Magius for arts; there's also the cooking, by this point, you have all the recipes of the game, which means you can complete the lists of Superb, Peculiar and Unique dishes and give them to their respective people to gain a good rewards: For Monica, it's the quartz Impenetrabke Shield; for Margarita, it's the quartz Chaos, which make status ailments last longer on the ennemy; and for Bridget, it's the Revolution quartz which make you more powerful the more you are below an enemy's level, which is quite good ngl; and it's not the end, if you present all the recipes to Ferris, she'll give you the Genesis master quartz, which raise your critical chances the more your HPs are low; also, I forgot to mention, but throughout this playthrough, there was just like last game, a book series to collect: Gambler Jack II, if you manage to get them all, the vice-principal will exchange them for a piece of Zemurian Ore the night of the 30th (also fun fact: he started reading Gambler Jack because Rixia recommended it in an interview, truly the man of culture, and should do as well, it's a good read),but anyway, as on the other game, you can create the ultimate weapon with this, and with the additional shards you get by killing the monster requested, you can have up to two weapons for the endgame.
      - In Ymir, everyone heard about the coming Heimdallr operation and that we'll be a part of it, so they wishes us luck, including Patiry and Kargo who are worried about Heimdallr despite their attitudes XD; on side activities, you have the last snowboard course avaible now who will reward you with a Skanda Gem if you beat it, and you have the fishing of course, Annabelle decided to stay in Ymir for now because she can't get past Roze in train due to the operation coming soon; but if you caught every fish in the game, you'll get to catch the last one here, the Ymir Guardian: Arch Tyrant, as a reward for catching it, not only you gain the title Platinum Angler and you can purchase the Aeolus Gem from Annabelle, if you talk to Kenneth afterwards, you get to purchase the Sennin Gem from him and he gives us the Orochi master quartz; the rewards form fishing are still great in this game. But the main event in Ymir is the discussion between Rean and his parents, which is quite important (you can tell because it's voiced); of course, they know about the operation and are wishing Rean luck for rescuing his majesty and Elise, but the Baron also has something else in mind, once all this is over, he'll tell Rean all that he know about his birth, he knew about it the whole time and with Rean growing tremendously over the past months, he feel like he can finally handle the truth regarding his biological parents, Rean always thought there was something weird going on behind the way he was adopted, he was found in a blizzard by the Baron, but the timing was too convenient, in a blizzard, a kid like him would've die in a matter of hours, and yet he was found and saved, what are the odds ? So yeah, the Baron seem to know, and while he's curious to find out, it's not a big of a issue as it was before, because no matter what happens, he'll always be their son, what a growth from Rean who before wanted to bow out of the family to avoid being a burden to them, now he accepted that he's a part of it and nothing will change that, so it's hug time🥺; and the scene end with Rean remembering his earliest memory, a fuzzy one about a person praying for a child (probably him), which is probably the person who abandoned him in the blizzard; but yeah, this scene rocks and also serves as a clue for what happens later regarding Rean's birth family, so much so that it enters the category of "why is this optional?".
      - In the Highlands, things have turned back to normal, the nomads have returned to their old spot now, and they heard about the incoming operation, Gywn makes us promise to never waiver in our beliefs and to wield the power we have for the right reason, without losing sight of why we possess it, as someone who established the Reinford Company and who created weapons that were used to terrorize people, that carry a lot weight coming from him; but the main event is of course Thoma and Sharl, her dad went to the settlement to talk to the former and his parents, and while it was supposed to be a normal greeting, he completely loses it and ask to stay away form his daughter as if they were going to get married, at least Gaius' parent interpret it that way, leaving the two quite embarrassed by the conversation, and her specifically by her dad XD; and there's no one at Zender Gate anymore, as the lieutenant general left last night to prepare for the operation, and the 3rd armored divison should be in position at the moment, waiting for the start of the hostilities.
      - In Roer, while things are looking up, they're not back to normal unfortunately, with the battle of Heimdallr coming, no trains or airship coming from here is circulating right now, which has a big impact on Roer since it's the nerve center of the railway network, and while it seems like they're safe here with how far away they are from the capital, the Marquis asked the airport to be prepared for an emergency just in case, and the Reinford company did it as well, a good choice because the outcome of this battle can decide the outcome of the war, and can therefore affect greatly the region, though something is certain, the Reinford company won't make the same mistake twice and will not allow themselves to be taken over by a faction; but yeah, overall people just want this war to be over, even the miners are not in the mood to work; now, for something completely different, there's Anton and Ricky, Anton talks about Sharon and how he wants to make a move on her....... Yep, we got the girl of this arc and is going to get hit on by Anton XD; and that's Anton's hopelessness that brings Ricky's memories back, what a way to remember him XD, but yeah, they finally reunite for real.... But don't worry, we're not done with them.
      - By the way, do you remember in Azure how Commander Baelz made the comment that maybe the soldiers missing due to the Aion's attack could still be alive ?....... Well, as it turns out, she was right, because the 5th at the proving ground actually found their former commanding officer lying in the Fortress, when he was supposed to have been evaporated alongside it, naturally, everyone is crying and think that's a miracle and that there may be more of their comrades somewhere out here; Rean theorize that he probably appeared now because the Azure Tree vanished, and that the power that originally wiped out the Fortress (KeA's) was now gone, and it's a pretty good one honestly to make sense of it all
      - Naturally, the Twin dragons bridge is basically empty due to the 4th being deployed for operation Heimdallr, so nothing much here, in Celdic however, things have changed for the better, the town is getting back on its feet and has already started the restoration of the grand market with Becky's father leading the charge, in fact, a few store have already opened up again, the injured are on their way to make a full recovery, and while the merchant focus on the grand market, the rest are rebuilding the town to its former glory, hope is back for them, the concert really did the trick at giving them the push they needed to believe again, and with all the merchants who were scattered around the country reuniting in Celdic after they heard of the market manager's passing, the town is on the way of healing, slowly but surely.

      - In Bareahard, things are still muddled here, with people still supporting the noble and other starting to doubt them with all the rumors of their crimes starting to reach their ears, and it doesn't help when said rumors are backed by the now free Radio Trista which corroborate these rumors and giving them more weight; Jusis also finally put an end to the wartime taxes that's been plaguing the city, everyone can breathe a little now; but of course, the main attractions of this tour are the discussions with Scarlet and Duke Albarea; the former is finally sharing her backstory in more detail, regarding how her family were farmers and that all of a sudden, they were chased from their homes so that Osborne can build a railway line on it, they were given a pile of miras to reconstruct their lives elsewhere, but they never managed to, and in the end, Scarlet's father began drinking himself to death until he passed away in an accident, after that, her family scattered and she lost contact with them, not knowing of they're even alive anymore..... Yeah, once again, you can see how, just like the rest of them, her descent into terrorism was a product of Osborne's collateral damage in his methods at modernizing the country and make the empire stronger: by making Jurai's mayor into a scapegoat in order to acquire Jurai, he created C; by brutally retaliating in order to make an exemple out of any nobles who tries to question his status of Chancellor, he created V; by razing a farm in order to expand the railway network and despite compensation, he created S; it's all these events that seems mundane in his quest of modernization and expension of Erebonia that led to the foundation of the Imperial Liberation Front, while his ideologies led to the properity of many, it also led to the ruin of several people caught in the crossfire of his reforms, Gideon in particular spoke against that his policies, but when he was fired due to that, he set on the road of terrorism and became G. All this to say, the ILF had good reasons to go after him, but their methods to achieve that were still wrong and reprimendable..........pretty much like every terrorists.
      - Jusis gets to talk with his father (and it's voiced too); the latter still thinks he can come back on top yet again and continues on with a more insane plan of capturing his majesty; so Jusis has to call him out on said insanity and that it's his own fault for finding himself in this situation, that he disregarded his responsibilities as noble and in the process soiled the Albarea name, now is the time to regain the trust and dignity that will allow them to stand atop once more, something the Duke seem wholly incapable of; in the meantime while he is indisposed, he'll left the province in Jusis' until he comes back, how his attitude remind him of his mother and to be wary of Duke Cayenne who brought shady collaborators into the fold and uses his power for his own benefit (pot calling the kettle black but whatever), so yeah, nothing really changed for the Duke.... Actually no, something did change at least a bit: for the first time since he was brought up into the family, he showed interest and has expectations from him, something Jusis longed for for years, and now that he talked to him, he's ready to face Rufus as a member of the Albarea Family, add that and the Scarlet discussion into the category of "why is this optional?".
      - Nothing really new in Legram, things have gone back to normal since the fog incident, the reprentative and his wife heard about the battle for Heimdallr and are glad that they stayed in Legram after all...... After bickering and lamenting the whole game that they wanted to go back there XD; also, the students or the Arseid managed to beat Klaus four on one today, a good progress.
      - Now for Trista (btw, did you check the Highway leading to it that was previously blocked by the alliance ? Because if so, you get to obtain the Hades quartz, the equivalent of Domination but for Arts); thanks to Micht's tips, the townfolks are taking shelter and are ready to evacuate should the need arise since the battle for Heimdallr will be close by, and there's the musician who's still there and wish us luck in liberating the capital so that he can perform there once more; the radio station is ready to report the battle of Heimdallr truthfully; as well as Schmidt, who's still bashing in the glory of his creation and will return to the Roer institute sometime later (btw, said institute are besides themselves that he hasn't came back yet, especially because..... You know......HE'S THE INSTITUTE'S PRESIDENT XD); as you noticed, the academy is quite empty without the students, and even the instructors who stayed recognize that and wish us well on order to return to these halls; Beatrix also goes a bit more into details about her past, he was a colonel on the army, but one of the event that pushed her into retiring was the hundred days war 12 years ago, where the whole premise of the war (Hamel) was fabricated on war hawk's lies in order to invade a smaller country and was therfore meaningless, countless lives were lost in this conflict for nothing (including Estelle's mother) and made her realize that she can't save anyone, however, she sees in us the potential to do what she couldn't, a ray of light amongst this civil war, and wishes us well for the operation; the principal also has a bit of reminiscing regarding how Osborne was his subordinate back when he was in the army, and that he suddenly left it 12 years ago to become the Chancellor we know today;. Alfin is also on the rooftop lamenting that she can't go with us, though you caught that conversation already (And also, that'd means you received the medals she grants and obtained the Vermillion master quartz if you got all three); there's also the priest hidden quest that makes Class VII go insane wondering how the hell can a traveling priest can go so fast to all the churches without catching up to him with our freaking high-speed airship ? If you have Gaius in your party, he'll add the post scriptum about him and reveal that he was his former teacher back in Nord (an info completely skipped if he's not here), Sara (if she's also in the party) does seem to have an idea of who he is, and wonder if he has the title "Roaring Lion"; and Rean theorize that maybe he has a high-speed airship as well and connects the dots to what Scarlet said regarding the congregation for the Sacrament.... So yeah, with our prior knowledge of the series, we know he almost assuredly used a Merkabah and that he's a least a member of the gralsritter, if not outright a Dominion.
      - And we end this tour with the newspaper, obviously, the more pressing issue is the battle of Heimdallr and all the noble propaganda still present within the pages, but there's also the errest of the Duke, which the paper make clear that the alliance has dissociated themselves from him, but also saying that "he's innocent until proven guilty" and that no evidence were found against him... Yeah go say that to the people of Celdic😓; in other news, the paper a'so mention the Azure Tree.... Which already disappeared by the time the issue is out, bad timing here 😅, and is considered to be another new weapon developed by the rogue state...... It's technically not wrong, but it's not exactly right at the same time; the western front is still chaotic, especially with the re-emergence of the 7th armored division (the one Mueller commands) previously missing who allied themselves with the Olivier's group: the wings of Freedom, and the rest of the imperial army are gathering themselves, so nothing is still settled over there, especially since the prince can't be contaxted right now; there's also a section dedicated to what happened in Trista and how Students are claiming to be "on a leave of absence" from their studies, of course the propaganda paint this article on a bad light, even claiming this is the work of seditious elements.... But let them talk, they have no idea what Thors is capable of 😈; and it ends with an editor's note that is probably the only genuine message of this paper that's not tainted by the alliance: please don't let the war go any longer.
      - I forgot to mention two things: if you kept up with the monster guide and registered every entries in it with Stefan, he'll give you the Calamity master quartz; and if you have done everything perfectly in terms of AP, you should have just enough of them to reach A0 and obtain a powerful accessory.
And that's it for the optional stuff in the Finale; from now on, it's just story..... Until the epilogue of course.
Edit: Holy shit, over 2 weeks to make this, that was LOOONNGGG !!!!

WHY DO Storywriters do that? I don't get it? Do any actual writers/storytellers know? I get it if it goes '5 hours earlier' about completely different people that were nowhere near the people you were currently following, but the same people that already had the attention before and after?! whyyyy

If they want to convey future thoughts on it, why not just play them in order.

Sometimes it's used to avoid tonal clash. Like if there's a big battle, most people want to see a celebration or relaxing scene immediately after, even if realistically they had a "cabinet meeting" right after, the audience can skip that and go straight to the celebrations, then hear about the interesting rest-of-story set-up stuff later in a flashback.
Or sometimes, for whatever reason, certain scenes just seems cooler when you know it's in the past. Don't ask why, just weird human preferences.
In this case though it's unnecessary. Falcom just seem to like flashbacks and use them a bit too often. There are a few times when they make sense, but this isn't one of them.

1:10 That really does get annoying once you notice it. Anyway, better get used to 'em, they'll be a Trails staple for a good while, for some Aidios-forsaken reason.
Claire: "We aren't asking you to battle on the frontlines"
Yeah, you are asking them to be your forward detachment instead. Even more risky.
4:40 "Azure Demiurge" will do, weapons. For some reason the Japanese insist on spelling and pronouncing it weird.
9:20 A cat is fine too
14:00 It's this part of Rean that never ceases to annoy me. There's optimism and then there's just plain naivete. Crow is responsible for forming and leading a terrorist group that launched attacks on multiple heads of state and military installations, took a member of the royal family hostage and personally assassinated the Chancellor even before war broke out. He is not going to be graduating anything other than life if you bring him in.
21:20 Olivier: "But in truth, I have my own glorious serpent I bring out at parties and on special occasions."
    Never change, you spoony bard
BTW, a character in stealth is effectively impervious to damage, including S-crafts. If you worry one's coming, might be smart to cast it on your aoe rezz.

I personally chose Alisa for the final bonding event and am very glad I did. The scene felt so wrong with Sara there. I am not getting into waifu debates here, but I really feel like Rean has absolutely 0 chemistry with most of the girls in Class VII. But hey, we can all play however we like. But man, that fight against Altina was brutal. I wonder if you would have had a better time if you relied more on adamantine shield or something? The campy fight in Azure is much easier if you just use A reflex and don't really attack him. The only really bad thing after that would be the Jalapenos. Very interested to see how you faired against certain bosses and even more pressed to see your reaction to certain big twists. Also, make sure you watch the new game+ exclusive scene on youtube afterwards. It gives very important lore. Can't wait for the next part.

gets completely retconned the next game, so ironically Sara,Towa and Alfin are the only romances that flow well into the next few games because Falcom doesn't have them commit at that point. Especially since Sara and Towa do get canon follow-up scenes like Towa comforting Rean in 2 or Sara's kiss in CS3 that follows up on what she says here.
