Alabama was the best country band of the 80s ...in my opinion Jeff Cook was one of the best fiddle player in county music bands .....he will be missed....🌹
They just played a concert in St. Augustine Florida a couple of weeks ago. But its only 2 members. The best drummer has been gone for a while and one recently died. But they rocked Country music
Alabama never disbanded. They pushed back concerts due to Randy and Jeff’s health and Randy losing his mother. I literally just saw them live last week. It’s just Randy and Teddy left with a fairly good backing band.
Alabama’s concerts were 100% sing-a-longs. The audience participation was total. And people would leave with smiles and tears. It was always fun and a great time.
RIP Jeff Cook. Amber, I was in Idabel today and the devastation caused by the tornadoes to the south and east of the town is heartbreaking. Prayers to the people of Idabel, Ok., New Boston, Tx., and Powderly, Tx. for recovery and restoration after the tornadoes of November 4.
I was born in Florida. During the depression era, my maternal grandfather was a hunter, trapper and fisherman, among other things. My mom was the youngest of 8 children. My grandfather got enough food when hunting and such to feed his family, plus some of the other families near them. It brought everyone together through that hard time. Thank you for reacting to this song.
My great grandmother who lived in Tennessee during the Great Depression said that if it ran across their yard and they could catch it, it was supper. 😂
I actually will have their Christmas album on a loop. If you don't want to come to my Christmas parties and hear only Alabama, don't come. Although I do make some pretty good eggnog.
This song is the story for so many of our families. Poor to begin with, loosing everything, TVA creating jobs and saving families. Some of us even had family who worked on "the bomb". Amber, I'd love to see your mom and dad! While you're visiting, be sure to gather family stories; as you get older, you realize just how precious they are, and you don't want to lose them.
That's for real I wish I had listen more to my great grandma and her stories about the Cherokee the Legends of our people but I was to busy thinking I knew it all and that's my loss
@@RitaBowen1 It's never too late. You may be able to ask cousins, aunts, etc., to see if she told any of her stories to them, or if they remember them. If so, record them for safe keeping.
My Native American Grandaddy and my white Mamaw lived through the Great Depression. They picked cotton til their hands bled. The Greatest Generation taught us so much about strength and character. We have a responsibility to pass it down to the future generations. Amber said it best when she described the misrepresented South. It's all about love thy neighbor. Another great Alabama reaction. I hope you have a great trip when you go to see your family. There's nothing like going home. ❤
The struggle of the generation that lived during the great depression also through the world wars were so resilient, strong, unwavering and the hearts of warriors, gave way to the most pampered and easily attained prosperity generation to have ever graced the face of the planet, which are the boomers.
"Momma got sick and Daddy got down, the county got the farm so we moved to town. Daddy got a job with TVA, we bought a washin' machine and then a Chevrolet." .... Favorite line. Speaks of the recovery of the South and Southerners.
Back in the 80’s we never missed their concert when they were in our city. My absolute favorite Alabama song is “Old Flame”! Their first Christmas album was a holiday staple in our house during the holidays. Your kids would enjoy “Thistle Hair, the Christmas Bear”.
Alabama was also heavily involved in the Shag/Beach Music scene in the Carolinas as well. Jay and Amber, this is a whole sub-genre you guys have slept on. You have been touching all around it with The Drifters, The Platters and a couple others but give Alabama's song "Dancing/Shaggin' on the Boulevard a listen. They are talking about hanging out at the various beach music scenes in Myrtle Beach, SC. But many other artists here like The Tams, The Embers, Chairmen of the Board, etc. The music sprung from motown/soul roots combined with a beach vibe. Also give Stagger Lee by Lloyd Price a listen - good shag song and a story song as well! Wishing you and your family well!
When you play Alabama your speaking my language when they started out they was called Wild Country and where I live is where they started out one of them use too work at a coffee shop here That's when they use too play on the old flat bed semi trailers here and that was Middle Tennessee not Alabama don't get me wrong i Love Alabama too but Tennessee is my home and their still as good now as they was then Love them guys and Love You guys too got too Love little Amber shes one of us..
The song tears me up...growing up on a farm in the mid-west....dirt poor, but we didn't know that when companies offered steady work (car unions back then, I'm against now), all our families could get steady paychecks- I joined the Army to get out and get GI Bill. when they say momma (for me it was grandma)got a washing machine....you just don't know how wonderful that line is.
Being poor in the country is something id gladly take over being city swelling suburban yuppie type with absolutely no REAL wealth and no REAL skill... All trivial and riches derived from money made of pure hopes and dreams. A man that can go provide, and take care of his family, and using is strength, and knowledge be able to thrive in that situation is wealthier than any know nothing, know it all with all the money they can spend. It honestly means nothing
Love Alabama! So sad about Jeff Cook. Thanks for doing them today.✌❤🎶 I'm proud to say I got to see them twice. Both times were awesome! That would be great to see Amber's home.
Not a country music fan by any means, but growing up in Knoxville, TN and also in West KY in the 1980s, this song and band were everywhere. To this day still remains one of my favorite groups from any genre.

Alabama! Top notch southern country music. Love that violin. Lindsey Stirling does awesome violin too. Lindsey Stirling - Crystalize or A River Flows In You.
On this channel we don't use the word violin when you're speaking about country music. Fiddle is the proper word. There I fixed it for you Jay and Amber. : )
You need to react to some of their more serious stuff like "My Home's in Alabama", "Love in the First Degree", "Feels so Right", "Angels Among Us" and "Touch Me When We're Dancing". RIP Jeff Cook
The images from the depression reminded me of the 1940 film The Grapes of Wrath. Amber, another song about the south that you might like is That’s What I Like About The South, Phil Harris from the late forties or early fifties. Chances are you might know Phill Harris because he sang in a lot of Disney animated films from the sixties and seventies.
RIP Jeff! He was diagnosed with Parkinson's and stopped touring with the band in 2018. Angels Among Us is a really good song. They did Christmas in Dixie with Home Free if you guys want to check that one out. Jeff was in it but barely participated.
Great song and reaction guy's. RIP Jeff!! Y'all should check out " 40 Hour Week" or " I'm in a hurry and I don't know why". Just a couple of more greats from Alabama.

There will never be another group like Alabama another good one is Restless Heart. If you haven't given them a shot you should listen to The Bluest Eye's in Texas their harmony is awesome.
I’ve been working for the TVA for 34 years, I have seen Alabama in concert twice in the 80s. Best band ever. Randy Owen wrote a book about his life that was really good.
Jeff Cook could play any instrument 🎻 with strings on it. If you’re ever in Alabama drive through Fort Payne and visit their museum. You won’t regret it.
You guyss are already into Alabama and have just barely scratched the surface of their amazing musical catalogue. Alabama = the Beatles of country music. RIP Jeff Cook...Thank You for the music.
God bless the south and RIP Jeff Cook. Alabama is my wife's very favorite band. She and I have been listening to them since the early 80s. I know the sticks where Amber grew up in the Durant area. Southern Oklahoma is some of the prettiest country there is. I've spent summers in Arizona, winters in Montana and spring time in Florida and there's no way I would live anywhere than south central Oklahoma. I just hate all the stupid bugs!
It's been said before...but Alabama is simply the greatest country band of all time. Over 200 awards received over the years, and 21 consecutive #1 hit...pretty much says it all. I would do 'Feels So Right' next...as it's a bit different from the songs you've done so far, and the lyrics, and Randy's vocals, still make that one of the most amazing romantic ballads I've ever heard. 'Roll On(Eighteen Wheeler)' and 'Love In The First Degree' as also songs you MUST do at some point.
They have some really awesome ballads. I love this song, Mountain music and High Cotton probably because I grew up in a cotton field here in Louisiana.I love their tribute to the American worker in 40 Hour week For A Living. My favorite is Angels Among Us.
Amber and Jordan you need to watch (Muscle Shoals) documentary. Located in Alabama. Alabama and the Rolling Stones,, plus more.Keep up with the good work 😎👍
I hope that you listen to more of this group. They are by far the best country band ever.Try Feels so Right. I have loved their music for many ,many years.
Another great reaction from you guys. Alabama is the greatest country band of all time. Another everyman song they sing is "40 hour week" shout out to all of the 9 to 5ers that make the world turn
Had the privilege of seeing Alabama several times over the years. Always enjoyed the show. I know y’all enjoy groups that have great harmonies. Please check out Blue Water Highway their song “Hanging On” has fantastic harmonies. Also group is The Wilder Blue check out their song “Picket Fences”
The other three guys in the band are Randy Owen (lead singer), Teddy Gentry and Mark Herndon. Two movie suggestions - "The Grapes of Wrath"(1940) and "Gone With the Wind" (1939). Thank you for remembering Jeff Cook.
I grew up in rural Missouri. My daddy was a huge fan of outlaw country and my parents together loved Alabama. I remember seeing them in concert at the state fair when i was a little kid.
Growing up, we didn't have any money so my parents looked for free things to do for entertainment. Right before Alabama hit it big, they played a free concert at Centennial Park in Nashville, TN. It was Summer, and the organizers gave away paper sun visors. After the show, I liked it so much I went to see if I could meet them and get their autographs. I was 13. They were so nice and kind to me, and they signed my visor, which I still have. Great memories, enjoyed your reaction.
I like that you are getting to the point you recognize them by their sound... Just wait until they change it up on you and you stumble on one of their love ballads... Still easy to identify them, Lead singer Randy Owen has a very distinct voice. RIP Jeff Cook.
Can't go wrong with Alabama! "Tennessee River" and "High Cotton" are a couple of others that you haven't heard yet. But there are so many worth checking out
I saw Alabama in concert 4 times in the 80's. They were the best country band of the era, hands down, and Jeff Cook was a major part of that. Sad news of his passing. RIP
Born and raised in middle TN and people in the south in my experience are raised to be humble, kind, and someone is always getting their hearts blessed. If you go out one day and don't hear "well bless your heart " something is bad wrong. I love the south and wouldn't trade it for any place on earth.
You could do an Alabama song every week and it would probably take you more than a year to get thru all of their hit singles. Not just the greatest country group, but one of the best groups PERIOD! Rest in Peace Jeff Cook If you want to hear something a little different from the band than what you have already touched on I highly recommend Angel's Anong Us and especially Feels So Right They also appear in one that am dying for you to watch the video of..Forever Country is the name of the song performed by Artists of Then,Now and Forever. Hopefully some other Squad members will vouch push for this song as well. Lol
Hi Amber and J. For your Christmas music reaction party - check out a few Alabama songs. My faves are "Christmas Memories", "Thistlehair the Christmas Bear", "Homecoming Christmas", and "A Candle in the Window". A couple more songs to check out "The Fans" and "Tar Top", these songs are about the early years and then becoming who they are today. We will miss you Jeff.
I saw them in concert in Hampton, VA in January 1988 with my two sisters. Our Grandmother gave us the tickets for Christmas. Didn't know it at the time it would be the last gift we ever received from her. In addition to Alabama, the show included Merl Haggard, George Strait, and Ricky Van Shelton.
Great reaction guys. We lost Dan McCafferty, the singer from Nazareth yesterday. Maybe you will do another reaction? Maybe "Dream On" if you want to hear the amazing emotion, or Turn on Your Receiver or Bad Bad Boy for some rock?
I had the pleasure of seeing Alabama last summer in Salisbury, MD... Randy Owens voice sounded just like it did in the 80's.. unforturnately, he suffers from vertigo so he wasn't jumping on the stage any more... and the fiddle player.. had Parkinsons and has now passed as far as I know... getting old sucks sometimes... when we lose such amazing ppl ya'll r young but I'm a child of the 80's I love every Genre of music... but was rasied by my Pop-pop on Old country.. love me some hair bands.. (my era) but I love Elvis, Frankie, Hip hop.... just can't stop loving the music
Alabama is my favorite band. They are my first musical memory. My hubby took me to see them in Denver in September for their 50th anniversary tour. So good.
Please react to Brad Paisley - Old Alabama. This was done several years ago and its is basically a tribute to the band Alabama, they even appear and perform in the video
I have never been the most religious person, and have seldom listened to country music in the last 20 years, but Alabama's Angels Among Us is one that has stuck with me since childhood.
Wonderful reaction!! I saw them in concert three times, always great!! Amber I would love to see where you grew up and meet your Mother!! Also, when it gets closer to Christmas y'all should react to Alabama's "Christmas In Dixie"!! It is one of the best Christmas songs!!
Losing Jeff Cook was like losing a piece of my childhood. I grew up on Alabama. I saw them maybe a handful of times with my parents, one of those times being the June Jam in 1988. Earlier that year on a whim we hung around after a concert and found out Randy Owen (lead vocals and guitar) was signing autographs. So there I was, 8 y/o Heather, with my Baby Kermit stuffy getting a hug from Randy. Never got to meet the other guys though. I would've loved to have talked with Jeff about guitars. Parkinson's sucks. Shine on, Mr. Cook.

Was able to see Alabama in concert four times. Jeff Cook could play the fiddle like no ones business. He will be missed. RIP Jeff Cook.
The other three guys in the band are Randy Owen (lead singer), Teddy Gentry and Mark Herndon.
Two movie suggestions - "The Grapes of Wrath"(1940) and "Gone With the Wind" (1939).
Thank you for remembering Jeff Cook.
Was it this group in Sweet home Alabama? Hi from Australia, so sad when we lose our and your greats.
@@kathleenmayhorne3183 Sweet Home Alabama was sung by Lynnerd Skinner.
That's the true measure of a groups success when the audience jumps in to finnish a song of yours.
I grew up in rural Missouri. My daddy was a huge fan of outlaw country and my parents together loved Alabama. I remember seeing them in concert at the state fair when i was a little kid.
The best country band ever.. one of the best bands of any genre ever.
Now you gotta react to "Smile" by Uncle Kracker... a fun and uplifting song!
RIP Jeff Cook one of the best to do it!!! Please react to Closer You Get, Old Flame, Angels Among Us
Closer You Get is one of my favorites along withRoll On and Love In The First Degree
RIP Jeff. He's been inducted into the fiddler's hall of fame❤❤❤❤He has so many accolades. He and his wife are supportive of so many good causes
I absolutely love Alabama. My favorites are Roll On and There's No Way. Y'all should check those two out.
I met these guys years ago. What a great bunch Of Talented musicians. They put out some great music..
R.I.P. Jeff Cook ❤🩹
With Christmas approaching you should check out Alabama's song "Christmas in Dixie." It's a classic.
Can't go wrong with Alabama! "Tennessee River" and "High Cotton" are a couple of others that you haven't heard yet. But there are so many worth checking out
Love this. Keep the Alabama coming. Please?
My favorite Alabama song is I'm in a hurry! So good.
One of the best country songs EVER!
Now this is what you call real country music they had really great songs through the years
You could do an Alabama song every week and it would probably take you more than a year to get thru all of their hit singles. Not just the greatest country group, but one of the best groups PERIOD! Rest in Peace Jeff Cook
If you want to hear something a little different from the band than what you have already touched on I highly recommend Angel's Anong Us and especially Feels So Right
They also appear in one that am dying for you to watch the video of..Forever Country is the name of the song performed by Artists of Then,Now and Forever.
I absolutely adore these two! Just lovely youngins!
Great reaction guys. We lost Dan McCafferty, the singer from Nazareth yesterday. Maybe you will do another reaction? Maybe "Dream On" if you want to hear the amazing emotion, or Turn on Your Receiver or Bad Bad Boy for some rock?
Not Dan. He will be missed. RIP Dan McCafferty
Its just So. Darn. Catchy!!! I love Alabama, their harmonizing is unparalled.
So good.
Alabama is a great band with great music! My favorite song from them is The Closer You Get.
RIP Jeff Cook. Try ‘Deep River Woman’ with Alabama and Lionel Ritchie. You’ll love it. ‘My Home’s In Alabama’ is another must listen to.
Cook.
Love this song.
Love Alabama!
Please react to Alabama “ Angels Among Us”
So very touching!!!
