@@Aquarius-iv2pmthere is R4 for that, has class A amp.. This device have two markets, one, Gen z kids for casual listening, two, old guys, audiophiles, who want a good transport to plug various dongle dacs in or feed to amplifier in the home, and for streaming, because it's android, you can be downloading and curating your collection on the same device as well, and it's small. Updated to the latest firmware 1.30 but quick share still not working, help?? Sometimes it will begin to send to the hiby frm my fold 4, either go to te end or stop quarter of the way and will keep contiuining to "send" and then cancel.
I ordered and received the unit. No it does not have system wide MSEB, it is only available in the Hiby Player. It did not sound that bad for what it is but I had to send mine back as the volume rocker was not working. It did not matter if the FN switch was in either direction. I am hoping it was only an issue with my unit.
How is the output for use as a transport? I want to buy for occasional casual direct listening, but more for plugging my dongles in.. Also is it system wide src bypass? If you listen to RUclips music, it's going through the dac? If I plug my dongle in, it's also going direct, not through android stack?
I was referring to the timbre of a music track. And different transducers and sources produce different timbre based on the materials the equipment was built. So if the timbre sounds casual it means that what i listen to is more enjoyable usually with more texture and colour added to the track because of the nature of the equipment used. And analog simply means it doesn’t sound robotic or digital or unnatural. Analog would sound more natural, musical and more musical to the ear. This audio hobby is very subjective, listening experience differs from individual to individual.
How does this compare to the R3 II regarding sound, and which would you recommend to someone who listens to a lot of Drum & Bass and wants accurate bass? Trying to decide between the 2 and leaning towards the R3 II since it has a balanced output (I run balanced monitors and sub), but very new to DAPs.
in a nutshell, R3 would sound better to me and outputs more power too with the balanced output. again, it's a different OS and it depends on personal preference on which OS you prefer.
@@ianfann Thanks, I appreciate it. I want a music device that is seperate from anything else so the OS isn't a real big deal, my last experience with a music device was my iPod gen 1 which I kept using till I got my first iPhone. LOL.

Is this any good comparing to a LgV50/V60 or a dongle dac (Tanchjim Space). I really like the design and a dedicated dap but I dont want to carry 2 devices with me.
hmm, yes and no. ipod touch is a different user experience altogether. ipod touch is integrated into apple's eco system. this technically is outside that eco system.
Great video and info. Looking to get my first dap and trying to decide between this and the R3 II. I use FLAC files and listen to a lot of Drum & Bass, music I use to DJ with. What would you pick between the two? Still learning about chips but I see people complaining about cover art taking forever to load with the R3II.
@@ianfann Since I see a Play Store icon, it does have an ecosystem, just not Apple's. I would say it is maybe an alternative but since the touch is gone, replacement seems more accurate. I suspect this will be the case for a number of people who miss the concept.

Damn, I was hoping for a replacement for my R5 which can no longer reliably play nice with Spotify due to (I think) being left behind by Spotify software revisions. I know there's a new(er) R5 than my OG model but it's bigger than mine, and doesn't take advantage of more recent versions of Android so I'm not convinced it would perform any better from a user interference perspective than my R5. I love the size and sound of my OG R5, I just want it to work better with current versions of Spotify/Android. I do love the addition of a lock button, that'd be very useful, but the omission of 4.4mm balanced with less focus on high quality sound makes me think I'm gonna have to stick to the R5 for a while longer😢.
I allready have a hiby mini balanced DAC I hope the USB-c works correctly on this, for my balanced moon drop setup. Taking a chance and ordering The blue one.
Dude I feel like I'm on a some sort of joke world. I have no idea what you are talking about. I just got this player and it's absolute crap. This sound is so weak and hollow it's basically like listening to the first basic mp3 player ever made. I have to put the player up to 80% volume just to hear anything at good volume on my U12T which is really effective and easy to power. The bass is so bloated and nowhere near what it should be and it has this hollow sound for the rest of the frequency. My Iphone with a apple dongle completely destroys this thing!

Do these Android DACs bypass the Android audio mixer by default, without using uapp or Hiby Music?
Some DAPs do and some don't. For example, the iBasso DX320 does, but the M300 doesn't seem to have it based on the forum discussion so far.
