Thanks for the review, Danny! Just ordered one on sale. This will be my first DAP since the old iPod days. Looking forward to just keeping my iPhone in my bag…
I just put it in my pocket for stuff like that. I'd rather have it secured in a pocket with a zipper than flopping around hanging off me. I guess you could hold onto it but still feels redundant.
I use 2.5 on my HiBy R3 Pro Saber and love it. I know some people complain that 2.5 can break. So can screen, buttons, etc. Don't like it, don't use it. I am happy that 2.5 is also on my R5 Mk2. And 4.4 uses too much space better saved for larger battery.
Thank you for your review Danny! I personally use this with the colorfly MP1 for the 4.4. Using it as a transport is fun and I can get to RUclips and use the speaker when I want to, basically a phone without the network functionality. Very in point review!
Just got the m300 today. I love it!! I have a 128 SD card and trying to move all apps to SD card. Is that possible? I can see all my pictures that I had on the card. I got the blue one. I love it!!!!
Interesting, first I've heard of something looking for that feature. Glad you have an option to fill that need and that it's on a great DAP as well. Thanks for tuning in 🫡
It's an Android device so you can load anything from the playstore on it directly. I never tried to disable the speaker, I just have it at zero volume when nothing is plugged into it. Just like any android device it remembers volume settings for whatever is hooked up to it (analog, wireless, speaker, etc).
A few questions for you, Danny. I may have missed it, but... 1. how is soundstage on this compared to other DAPs or dongles, 2. did you notice any difference in sound between the Hiby app and Apple Music or Spotify with the same songs, 3. can you download albums, playlists, and songs from Apple Music and/or Spotify to the micro SD card? Thx!
1. Stage felt on par with my other stuff I have currently, maybe a bit more than DX170 and the iPhone at least 2. I did not notice any difference in sound between apps even without the bit perfect playback, just small delays here and there (like maybe a second) 3. Yes, I had all my music on the micro sd card actually
Thx for the answers, Danny! On my old Shanling M6, the audible difference between apps is quite noticeable. The built in Shanling app sounds very rich but lacks gapless playback. Other apps sound neutral and lack note weight but have gapless playback. I didn't think I've tried Shanling's Eddict app on it, though. Maybe that'll provide similar sound to the built in player while providing gapless... 🤔
Great video!! 🙌🙂I've been using my 128GB iPhone SE (1st gen) until now like you and now I'm hoping to buy a DAP due to the storage limitations on the iPhone SE. Keep up the great work and greetings from Romania!✊
Gotta admit, I'm intrigued. I've been holding off on a Sony Walkman, but I wasn't too keen on a proprietary charging/sync cable on the a45 and the a305 was a bit more expensive.
I would put them pretty close to each other in terms of sound, I believe that iPod uses the same DAC chip. M300 is way better overall in terms of usability and versatility though. You have the freedom of Android and expandable storage.
Thank you for the review it was a device I was considering and at the time this would have been a relative bargain. However with Hiby R4 about to drop that, for me, relegates the M300 to the back shelves. My only decision is whether to pre order the R4 or wait for availability on Amazon
hey Danny, grear review ! got mine on order. qq, does it support spatial audio/ Dolby Atmos for apple music? could not find souch detail online. thanks again for the review!
It runs off Android 13 so anything Apple music supports on the latest update should work. I know it has spatial but I haven't tried Atmos since I don't like what it does to music.
Thx for your honest thoughts! Do you think the M300 is sonically an upgrade from the Iphone SE or other Phones with headphone jack (Tuning, Details, Soundstage...)?
Thanks for tuning in. Hiby makes the best DAPs it seems. I want to eventually get something to replace the DX170. I don't think this was out 6 months ago anyways.
Do you find that apps like Tidal are very slow to load music from the SD card? I'm having that issue with the m300 where Tidal will take up to 5min to start playing music I downloaded on the app to the SD card
I did. I only use the Samsung EVO cards off Amazon. The blue ones. This DAP supports up to 2TB but that size is very expensive and only made by two brands currently. I am using a 128GB one currently.
@ImAWSMDanny do you still like the device? This is my first dap ever. I'm tired of using my Samsung s24 ultra for spotify. Want to use something smaller. I'll buy the 128 sd card on Amazon too, then. The blue one. Thank you so much!! I hope I invested in the right dap!!
@@ishmone21 I use this DAP every day. It is my go-to portable solution. I use it both for bluetooth (in the car or with wireless stuff) and for wired sets. If I am moving and listening to music I use the M300.
@ImAWSMDanny I've heard that the volume is low on this device. Is that true, or is it plenty loud? Thank you for spending time answering my questions, subscribed
@@ishmone21 out of the box it was but there is actually two audio settings. The volume rocker controls main volume but in the settings there is options for volume mixing. So make sure to go in there and adjust media volume if needed.
I ordered one of these and cancelled it after i started reading all of the things wrong with the buttons on the side, randomly locking up, QC problems. Anyone else experience this? Thinking of ordering the H4 instead. Really wanted something smaller though.
This must be some kind of sorcery. I am doing some research on the internet to buy a pmp for myself and the iphone se pops up everywhere. I lost that phone to water damage 3 years back.
I love it but I wish it had 4.4mm not cause I think it changes anything but for my Mext came in 4.4mm since it what people do for high end iems I guess lol, easy enough to replace but man my frickin Elysian Piglrim's Pentaconn Ear Connectors, so expensive for a different cable. Instead I went dumbnuts route, I'm gonna buy an R4 down the line lol
My thing with this DAP is the problem that the batteries are soldered in. These type of batteries are known for their finite lifespans and the fact that they are soldered in and not hot swappable, there’s going to be an issue if replacing the battery down the line. It’s so depressing that right to repair is never a forethought these days
Don't project your naïveness, sir. My phone? It streams. It has unlimited, unrestricted data. Therefore, I can use streaming services and watch RUclips. On the go, that is. Enough said?
@@ImAWSMDanny My streaming services are uninterrupted. All a man needs is a good phone for streamed or locally stored music, unlimited data, good IEMs and a good DAC/amp. Enough said.
Your music isn't interrupted when you get a text, phone call or other notification? Also phones are just more distracting in general. I like to disconnect from the world when I listen to music for enjoyment. If your phone works for you that's fine but that's not an argument for those who don't want to use their phones for everything.
@@ImAWSMDanny I have a second phone dedicated for music listening. I have removed all the annoyances from it and optimized it for streaming and local audio. Works wonders with either Mogo 2 or Hiby FC6. Look at the Mint cellular, for instance. It gives you a very inexpensive limitless, quality 5G connection.
Did you adjust the media volume to max in the setting i mean you use that in 50 volume level then im just in 30 to 35 level and it sound pretty loud.
No I hadn't, this gave me lots more headroom. So there's a small nitpick solved. Thank you.

It's a great little DAP. I'm using mine right now. I didn't find an option to transfer apps. I'll double check.
@ImAWSMDanny thank you so much. Since I have the sd card on it, does it just roll over to SD, once the 32 gb on the device gets filled?
The speaker is a must have for me. Otherwise, thanks for the comprehensive review.

2 Questions.
