My FD2R has done over 200k km and its slightly over ten years old. I still love driving it to bits and will never sell it. It is one of the best raw mechanical car ever built.

I’ve had mine from new since 2010. Love it to bits and it’s a keeper. Kept it complete stock save for the brake discs and a set of Öhlins. But it doesn’t speak Japanese to me like this one! Must teach it to do so

These cars are so cool ! Before i found out they were civic i used to think it was a four door dc5 integra ! Its kinda like an FN2 and a DC5 had a child 😂😂

Been a LONG time since I watched your content (you know how busy life can get) but I really enjoyed that video. Not as much as you enjoyed driving that Type R though!
Japan always did keep the best models to themselves so it's a pity these never officially came to the UK. Great cars.

Similar wrap over wing/fender type to BMW X5/x6, quite cool. Albright on the Bmw it means headlights have to come out from the back via inner wheel arch
Personally I think the spoiler is closer to my FK2's CTR than my FN2's (Not including the Mugen FN2 CTR of course which I think Jamie is referring to)... Performance wise there wasn't much to separate the FD2 and the FN2 CTR's other than on the track, I can't comment on the FN2 Mugen CTR as I haven't owned one. The FD2 was a touch quicker round due to the firmer suspension but it's the same engine tuned to have slightly more power.. it's also a Mugen CTR. I think with adaptive suspension the FD2 would have sold bucket loads of cars in the UK, I think it still looks good now even though it's 10 years old!

We got the Integra, NSX, Supra, and a handful of others. Everything else is a neutered version of the real deal.

We have it now with the current CTR :) But I think in it's standard setup it would have been too hard for UK roads.... people complained about the FN2's ride being too firm!

They range from £9,500 for a high milage example to £18,000 for a mint or very moded one, Yeah big money

The FD2 was apparently too hardcore for the UK Honda claims. Instead we got a 1.3l IMA Hybrid with only an automatic gearbox. How pathetic.
JustTahmid and we get it officially in Malaysia. I dont know what Honda Malaysia said to Honda Japan but they did a mighty fine job persuading HQ to bring in the FD2R to Malaysia.
The UK got the FN2 as an alternative to the FD2, which was also sold in Japan as the Euro R. (Not to be confused with the CL7)

We got the same body in the US called the Civic Si. Different front and rear but it comes with the K20 engine with 197hp and an 8k redline. A bit softer and toned down but still had the 4 wheel independent suspension and is loads of fun. Better than the EU Civic

Sometimes I wish I was Japanese, the fact they had the ep3 JDM made in Swindon and shipped to Japan with a UK badge on the back and also had this car but made us have the let down FN2. And also the Ingegra DC5 which we never got. Come on Honda :(

An importer called Litchfield Imports from the UK purchased a handful from new back in the day from Japan Honda (I own one of them). Hence why you have seen them in the Evo magazine in the UK.

Nice video as always Jamie! Love the FD2 my favourite Civic Type R beside the EK9. And ya the Honda Stream was a 4 door EP3 like car - Auto only with the K20a3 motor... neat car though.
Also fun fact... that classic Honda chyme you hear when the door is open with the key in the ignition actually translates out to the word "Honda" in Morse code.
