A funny thing about truffle hogs is that unlike trained dogs, they search for truffles mainly to eat them. So if you have one "helping" you, you need to be fast with your fingers to keep it from eating the truffle once it has found it. However, I remember reading sometimes you have to let them eat some of it or have a treat prepared, because otherwise they stop digging for them if you're around.
Yeah, they're smart. If you take all the truffles they'll stop digging them 4 you
well duh.. it's like a hawk that brings back prey it catches. You have to feed it or it stops hunting for you. I thought that was common knowledge.

Pigs can do short term cost benefit analysis, if only they could do long term cost benefit analysis they'd liberate themselves and eat all the truffles themselves. But hey that only makes them as smart as most humans.

I used to have that on VHS and watched it over and over... I'm ready
I once saw a sow with at least 5 of her piglets when I was traveling with my classmates to a local wildlife refuge in Oklahoma. They all ran away as soon as they saw us and two of the piglets did a cute cartoon run where they ran in place like looney tunes style and ran with their little lives to catch up to their momma. My professor immediately said to head back to the van as fast as we can, since it meant that the 600+ lb male boar is probably nearby and we didn't want to encounter him.

In 20 minutes I've learned to rewire my e bike to add an extra battery and after that changed the frame and transferd the thing. I didn't know anything about electricity and now I've learned something different then surfing snails. I'm bored easily and visual representation while explaining it with a story/joke for 1-7 Times makes it stick better while laughing. It's like more senses are engaged cumulative with a happy memory/stimulus.

You should. Wild pigs have lost a lot of natural predators very quickly throughout most industrialized nations in the global north, as a result they've become so numerous as to be classified as pests.
And considering their size, the nutritional requirements resulting from that and their hostile attitude especially while they have piglets running about, that is a problem.

Grew up in a farm and cared for pigs: NEVER, EVER, SAW A PIG EAT POOP. And they naturally keep as clean as they can. Chickens do eat everything, poop included.
Aye... I have very little experience with pigs, but the ones we have at the farm I work at are pretty much always clean--except on their feet.
They're smart enough to flood their pen on a hot day, though. Their waterer shoots out water when they stuff their noses in, so they dug a trench and a heap down the middle of their pen to contain the water, stuffed in their noses, and let the water overflow and fill up the space. Definitely one of the funnier incidents on the farm! :)

My father and a buddy of his ran into a wild pig while they were out hunting squirrels once, the pig charged them and they had to run. They were only carrying small pistols and it took both of them running and emptying both of their clips into the pig to get it to stop. They were in the Marines at the time and they took it back to base and cooked it up so it wasn't wasted. Pigs are scary in the wild.
