Thanks! The tip of removing the motor mount nut and jacking up the engine just enough to get the water pump out is a good one, should help alotta people.
Great video, about to tackle this project because Toyota decided to use some junk Water Pump in these engines. Thanks for letting us know the bolt for the idler pulley is reverse thread! Saved me a potential headache!
Thank you for the video, it helped me replace the thermostat housing on a 2017 sienna. This was not that bad of a job, took me about 3 hours with no ratcheting wrenches. Only issue I had was one of the long lower bracket bolts only came out when I removed the metal bracket completely, there was not enough room to take it out while the bracket was still in place. I then forgot to put it back in the bracket and didn't realize until I started bolting everything back up that there was not enough room to get it back in so I left it out for now.
This is fantastic!!! If you don’t have the ability to vacuum out the cooling system there’s a bleeder screw on top of the engine you use to burp out remove the air from the cooling system to prevent cavitation.
I thought it would be complicated... And I was right!!! There are only several hundred opportunities for me to make a mess of it... Thanks for convincing me to pay someone else to do it...
1. @10:32, the motor was jacked up, why, for easy access to the pulley? 2. How to adjust the belt tension? 3. Does it recommend to repalce the idle pulley too?
The water pump pulley won't come off the water pump unless you jack the engine up a bit, not enough clearance. These use automatic belt tensioners just like most vehicles have for decades now, there is no adjustment.
I completed the job today. It was much more difficult than it looked on this video and compared to the 4 cylinders RAV4. Replacing the water pump was not hard at all, but access to it was the most difficult and frustrated because of the space and design. This video really helps the whole process. I messed up a few spots, and it took me probably 6-8 hrs.

This video helped me out tremendously. I was able to get the job done yesterday and still have time to cook dinner. Thanks for all the tips.

I’ve done that a few times when I was first learning 🤣 thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
I certainly hope you replaced the water pump and belt while you were at it since these water pumps rarely last 100,000 miles.
This job was a lot easier on my 2005 Camry. The space is really tight in a Sienna. Great job, Roy.
Thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Was your Camry a 4 cylinder? That's why.
@@BartSparrow123 yes, 2.4L 4 cylinder There is a lot of working room.

That looked a lot easier than i thought!
Nicely edited and the steps are well explained.
Thank you!
Good job, clearly shows
Good job cleaning up all the blood on the parts you took off !!!
Great job
great job

If I had to do it my self do I need that airlift tool to pull vacuum? What if we don’t pull vacuum?
No, you just open the bleeder screw and leave the coolant cap off and run the engine until you "burp" the system.
Thanks Roys for the video. I am going to do it soon on the 2018 Sienna. What were the torque spec for the water pump and thermostat housing?
Found it. 8 lbs for 10mm and 15 lbs for 12mm.

Very nice details and thanks for sharing, I feel comfortable doing this job.
Hello I would to know if any compressor would do job. Suck the air out of cooling system like 3 gallon compressor 110psi?
Great job!
Wow!!! Now I know how!!! NOT!!!!! LOL
just do it step by step. looks overwhelming bit just do it piece by piece.
