Such beautiful countryside scenery there. Shocking that such a historic tree and stand of trees can be cut down for a road. Shameful. It should be simple to reroute it I would think. My home state of Michigan was completely logged out in the lumber boom 100+ years ago. We were the lumber capital of the USA then. Just before WW2 the Civilian Conservation Corpse replanted millions of seedlings on public land. My father did that then. Landowners now enter property into conservation reserves and get tax breaks. Land owned by timber companies (millions of acres) was replanted and is open to the public. Long story short our state is covered in forests again and it's good for the soul just being out there. Walking in huge woods my father may have planted is such a great connection to the land. Hopefully given a chance your forests can regrow as well. Thanks for sharing, you are part of the solution!
I’m not too bothered about a reroute 😅 thank you for sharing! That is interesting, I hope we can plant more forests here in the UK - we have hardly any ancient woodland left! I agree, it is very important to recognise how we are connected to the land and to our heritage not only through stories and buildings but through the environment and landscape 😊😊😊
How very tragic. The people with the control know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. Thanks for raising awareness and I really hope the scheme gets binned.
I remember the Newbury bypass and the desecration of the countryside and trees around it, all in the name of progress, thank you for bringing this to light 😊
Very sad to see that such a beautiful tree is going to be cut down. Seems so wrong that something that has been there so many more years than we have will be gone. Interesting to hear that we are the most deforested nation in Europe, also very sad. Great video however, thanks for showing these places off.
@@ethicalbunny it the same nr where I live, money talks. the council have given the go ahead for 200 new houses to be built on green land despite 600 signatures against ‘this proposal 😡
Great video! If you want to do any more to highlight the madness of this scheme, we'd be happy to collaborate. Maybe by adding/supplying drone footage, etc. Not only are the trees at risk, the area is used by otters, kingfishers, herons, newts, dragonflies, bats, etc. etc. and of course a lot of humans who really appreciate this unspoilt area so accessible from the town. Areas of ancient woodland will be impacted along with Local Wildlife Sites and even an international site (Hencott Pool).
Thank you for caring for the precious Green space in Shrewsbury that is threatened by the proposed North West Relief Road. Shrewsbury is near unique in having a wedge of green landscape that follows the Severn into the heart of the town. The NWR road will destroy so much, the numerous ancient trees, miles of hedgerow. It will put the towns watercourses and water extraction for drinking water at risk of contamination and the elevated section over the river will be an eyesore and cause infasound pollution for miles around. And for what? A few minutes of of journey times that could be reduced with better traffic flow controls in the town and local area anyway. The road will open land to further development in what is a high flood risk zone. I'm sure there are a few people that we turn a pretty penny with this development potential on the back of destroying a natural asset accessible to all that live in Shrewsbury. If it goes ahead, it will blight the character and environment of a great county town.
hi ethical bunny, lovely videos. On the subject of using music in your video, my advice would be to reduce the volume on the music sections, since the volume is much louder compared with your commentary. Hope to see you in the Carneddaus next year!
In my local habitat there's a lord who grows trees to sell, does he really need the extra cash when he was worth £100 million in the late 90's? He should let the trees grow for wildlife and the enjoyment of people. I could rant about this for at least 3 weeks but I probably shouldn't because I'd break the Internet. While I don't hug them, trees are still an important landmark in the history of our culture.
That’s ok ha ha feel free to rant! Yes there is a huge difference between a plantation and a wood full of native trees … plantations are so heavily sprayed with pesticide! It is one of my goals to save up enough to buy some land and reforest it! 😊

So do I! Completely agree, I hope someone stops it … I wondered if I could do a swampy and live in the tree but I’m not sure I have the guts 😅😅
@@ethicalbunny would be good content! But no, perhaps not!

Glad you enjoyed it! Urg! I can’t stand it … makes me wonder what we are ‘progressing’ towards!

I know, it is amazing to think how the world will have changed since it was a sapling!

Glad you enjoyed it! Me too! Hopefully someone will stop the road ☺️

I hope you feel better soon, have a great Christmas and thanks for another great video 😁👍🍻
Thank you! I hope so too! Looking forward to the Christmas holidays 😊😊

Thank you that is very kind! I know - it’s horrendous the loss of biodiversity this will create - hopefully it will be stopped! 😊😊

Lovely area it’s awful how the uk destroys the countryside for more roads and more houses soon there will be nothing left
I know it’s awful! I don’t know why they can’t invest the money in public transport!
Crying shame for the Oaks to be cut down for what ? 3 minutes.......what a waste .
Well it is something like that - seems so stupid! They keep approving awful new builds everywhere so the roads can’t keep up :(
