I think this video really highlights how many instruments Chris can play! Great comparison of the mics. Thank you!
i liked how you played every single instrument
Thanks Varun! This video was a lot of fun to film.
There were some very surprising results! Sometimes I thought the condenser and dynamic were nearly identical, sometimes I could hear huge differences, and while I thought the ribbon mic would be pretty useless in most cases (I haven't heard of ribbon mics before and judged it pretty quickly after the intro) I changed my mind and realized that there aren't a lot of use cases for it, but when it fits it fits perfectly. Fascinating stuff.
I bought two of your OH mics for my band and I absolutely love them. I'm looking into more mics from you guys. Great video BTW. Keep up the good work!
ribbon sounds best on the fiddle to me, but the dynamic works better on the bass drum, better attack.
I'd be afraid to use a ribbon on a kick drum.
Some are built for that
thank you so much Chris!!
I think the 57 has the best clarity for high and low frequencies - the ribbon just sounds muted in most situations...
That's because that mic is either dead or trash quality from the beginning. I'm using a cheap ribbon mic and it sounds amazing - warmer and softer than condencer but not as boomy as dynamic. Not for the highest of frequencies but it's very sensitive up to 12kHz and somewhat sensitive up to 18kHz. This one is muffled AF.
iSK stands for "Inoperable Shure Knock-off" right?
Great comparison "gamut" !
Can i have more info related to ISK TDM-3?
Couldn't find a specification on the device online?
Can I use the Pearl (a pair) to record a Choir??
Is isk still in business?
Yes, we are, however it is difficult to replenish inventory at this time due to the situation in China.
How can we hear the quality of the mics when you can barely play the instrument?
haha... yeah... I'm not that good at some of these instruments, but there definitely is a difference between these microphones and if you have good monitoring you should be able to hear a trend.
@@iskproaudio7124 thank you for your video, the idea is really good and helpful. I wish more people took that initative.
