    Subscribed! Love the new format. Just a couple of issues from making it perfect. You can try to position your seat so that it's much more leaned back than normal. Right now, the POV feels like it's above your head and the camera is framing a lot of the headliner. If the POV is lower and further back it would feel a lot more like what the driver would see. Also, having the right audio setup makes a huge difference to POV vids. I feel like you are just using one lav mic for your voice. Those are great for capturing voice and diminishing the ambient sound. I think you'll need a second audio capture just for the ambient sound, I can barely hear the engine over your voice right now. Looking forward to seeing some sick canyon drive POVs, you were always one of the better drivers out there with a great lineup of cars. Best of luck man!

    Man, in your last video I asked for your take on the manual Supra (and commentary vs the s2000). Didn't imagine a few days later you would bring the goods. Love the PoV style, esp the on ramps and right hand turns.
    I was settling between the GR86 and GR Corolla, now you are making me lust after this bad boy. How is the steering vs those two.

    • @Zygrene
      @Zygrene  Год назад +2

      GR86 steering is the best of the 3. GR Corolla maybe 2nd? Would need to drive them back to back.

    • @michaelnewman6645
      @michaelnewman6645 Год назад +4

      I had the same debate, and ended up picking up a GR86 a few weeks ago. Renting a GR86 was what sold it for me. Coming from a 07 WRX hatch and having driven a regular Corolla hatch, the lower lighter feel, and more direct steering/ great overall handling won me over. I have some minor complaints with respect to pedal placement for heel toe, and clutch feel but it's gotten better as I've gotten used to the car. Also if I'm being honest, I got a little tired of waiting for my GR Corolla allocation with essentially no timeline on when I'd have one.
      I've also rented an automatic Supra, and to me it felt too .... cockpit-y. Some folks like that, but personally it wasn't for me. Also it somehow felt larger vs the GR86 than the actual difference in size. With that said, it's definitely faster with higher limits stock for stock, and makes much nicer noises. But I was going for light, nimble drivers car vs outright straight line speed, so it was the GR86 for me. Maybe a manual Supra would have won me over, who knows.

    Loved the POV! I'd watch anything you post dude, it's great news if you're gonna use the cars for even more content.
    2 things I'd improve :
    1. The garage segment was pretty dark and claustrophobic. A more open and well-lit presentation would be more visually appealing.
    2. I would have liked to see you drive it harder, honestly. I found myself a lot less entertained watching you than I am when you're pushing it in the canyons. Obviously everyone has their own tolerance for what they're willing to do on a busy road. But just using 1st gear more to GET to the speed limit would make it more interesting. Any kind of throttle/high rpm would be welcome as much as possible, even if you decide to be a perfect citizen about it. And a little wheel slip here and there if you're feeling like a rebel... especially on that U-turn haha! I kinda drive like a fool though so maybe that's just me.

    • @Zygrene
      @Zygrene  Год назад +5

      Shifter/clutch in the ND2 are fantastic but almost too light. The Supra's controls have more weight while still being very linear and predictable, which makes it feel more like a GT. Maybe I'm getting old, but I like anything that feels GT. Supra is less fun on tight canyon roads but more fun from stoplight to stoplight and higher speed roads.

      No chance if Toyota made a dedicated Supra model from the ground up that it would cost less than $80,000. Sports cars don't sell like SUVs. I grew up on Toyotas from the late 80s and 90s. If I was gonna pay $80,000+ for a 2 seater sports car I'd choose a Porsche instead and Toyota knows that which is why they wanted to keep their cost down to make this vehicle more accessible. I'm a big fan of your POV perspective on this intro. It feels like being there. Although Bavaria and Aichi collaborated on suspension design, BMW gave the Supra much more than its interior and 6 speed manual, because it's literally a Z4 M40i beneath the Celica facelift. As is the Z4 sDrive and the Supra 2.0. I might be old school, but marketing them as a Toyota without acknowledging this feels a bit disingenuous to me. The name "AC" Cobra acknowledged that it was a collaboration between Texas race Company Shelby and the British race company Auto Carriers Ltd. The only reason the current Z4 even exists is because of toyo asking for the collab and its been all too prominent that BMW could care less about the Z4 unlike toyo with the mk5 that they haven't even updated the car since it came out nor planning on even giving it a M version.

    • @justsomerandomguyman
      @justsomerandomguyman Год назад

      Longer than an S2000, but, IMO, better than any current BMW or Porsche. The way he describes how "easy" it is in the video is the perfect description. It feels good. It's tight, easy to shift. Fairly short throw and less rubbery than every other BMW and things like the Nissan 350Z/370Z/Z. However, it's not quite like the S2000 or other Hondas. It can likely hold much more power than your average Honda manual transmission though. So, you have to consider that too.

    Like the format a lot.
    I've been agonising for ages over what car to get in this kinda price bracket.
    I'd kinda dismissed the Supra because every review I saw rated it below the competition, due to that restrictive cabin and the slightly odd driving dynamics. But I do like the way it looks, the B58 is a bit of a peach...
    This, Alpine A110, Cayman GTS 4.0... gah idk man

    I think people have an issue with it being a BMW doesn't necessarily have to do with it being a BMW. I think its more like copying someone's work and then slapping your name on it and taking credit. So if the Supra is amazing really how much credit can you give toyota and how much to BMW, probably most of it top BMW.
