I heard this colossal work more than 50 different times, different interpretations, different performers. This is easily the best time I heard it. Excellent soloists especially the great tenor and the mezzosoprano, the choir extraordinary, outstanding artists in the orchestra, and the conductor!! That conductor who mastered all the nuances of this massive work, and held all these artists with a fist of iron!! BRAVO!!!!!

My mum sung in the Bournemouth Municipal Choir 1980's/90's for many years. I watched her perform this masterpiece with the choir quite a few times over the decades . Sadly she passed 2005 so this incredible work still brings a tear to my eye.
I thought classical music was dead and I believed that. Now I see it lives. Now I cry with joy while listening to this Requiem. God bless the choir. Grant the victims of 9/11 eternal rest.

Qui Verdi raggiunse l'apice della sua potenza creativa. Dominio totale, assoluto e incondizionato della materia. Come Dante nel verso o Michelangelo nel marmo.
Although most of Verdi’s masterpieces are situated in the opera component, he was still an amazing composer when produces other type of works. This extraordinary Requiem is an example of this, which is a masterpiece of an incredible elevation dedicated to Manzoni. His music touches us deeply and at times is overwhelmingly powerful. Only a genius could have composed this fabulous work. This is perhaps the best interpretation I’ve heard of this fantastic work so far. The soloists’voices are superb for their beauty and the sound that touches us in depths of our most intimate sensibility. The orchestra, the choir and the direction are fantastic. Viva Verdi and his divine music. Thanks for this incredible recording that gives us moments of unforgettable pleasure.
Absolutely concur with you. I love this work which I was blessed to sing as no part of the choir when I was 18 y/o, so I always try to listen to every version I find in RUclips and, I do think this may be the best I’ve found so far. As you said, conducting, orchestra, soloists, choir AND I’d add sound engineering are all amazing. I especially love the young soprano (Lise Davidsen). She can be as sweet as in “Recordare” as well as fearsome in the “Liberame Domine” at the end of the Requiem.
To lose one's wife and two children in short term öne after another is difficult to endure for anyone, the world is lucky that Verdi was able to produce most of his great works even after such tragedies.
SUPER MAESTRO AND CHOIR AND ORCH. - THE SOPRANO AND THE TENORE SOME TIMES INSUFFICIENT AND FALSE TONES! - CUDOS TO THE MEZZO AND THE BASS !!! - HIGH CLASS VIDEO RECORDING!!!
There are Requiems and Requiems: Verdi's take on out approach to the day of reckoning just has to be the most impressive of all. And a tremendous, powerful performance by orchestra, choir and soloists that is closest to Verdi's manuscript. Well done and thank you for this performance, Maestro, Danish National Symphony Orchestra and Choir and Soloists.

Yes, Mozart's Requiem is beautiful.... But, when the time comes, and you're sitting on the 'Naughty Step', with the Big Man measuring up all the good and bad that you have done, in your life, it is the Verdi Requiem that provides the background music! Be afeared, be very afeared! 😮
Bravo. However, cutting the applause short like that is worse than coitus interruptus. If listeners have invested 1:29:02, they're likely willing to indulge in enjoyment of the audience's appreciation as well.

This is so amazing. What I wonder is how do the trumpets up in the nosebleeds stay in time being so far away? Would this cause a slight timing challenge?

Probably the best Soprano and Mezzo on the planet currently for this work. What incredible music!!!
You really must be joking Aidan! Listen to Veronica Simeoni from Italy the Mezzo soprano who is head and shoulders from others!
And listen to Anna Netrebko from Russia the soprano!
I totally agree with you. These work doesn’t require the theatrics of opera but the dramatic but reverent vocal production sacred works require.
