Holocaust survivor meets school boy to pass on her story | Holocaust Memorial Day 2024

Eve Kugler was just seven years old when Kristallnacht took place in 1938.
After her family’s home and business were destroyed, her father was arrested. Remarkably, Eve’s mother was able to secure her father’s release from Buchenwald, and in June 1939 they fled to France on a forged visa.
When the Second World War broke out, Eve and her sisters were placed in a home for Jewish children outside of Paris. In 1941, Eve was evacuated to central France, where she lived under Nazi occupation.
She fled to the US with her sister Ruth, forced to leave her parents and sister Lea behind.
This week, to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, she met 15-year-old student Josiah Folorunso at 10 Downing Street, where they discussed Eve’s experiences growing up in Nazi Germany.
They spoke about life as part of the Jewish community today, and the importance of passing stories like Eve’s down to younger generations

I can't imagine what that young black teenager had to go through when he was facing the injustices of the Holocaust. Eve Kugler is a phenomenal interviewer and journalist for taking us through this young man's heart-wrenching and harrowing story of ordeal and perseverance. We will never forget your story young man.
