As long as you give it a good buff job your golden, as long as they liked it and you got 💰 that’s all that matters

i use same machine and without the belt cover also. i put the shim behind the paper. slide it it from the belt side. in my mind it keeps the crease in the paper closer together so less chance of chatter

I learned how to sand on an old American sander 30 plus years ago. If you put the paper on too tight it will chatter, If you put the paper on too loose it will chatter and if you put the paper on just perfect it will still chatter. I've been using Lagler Hummel for 25 years. BTW, of course you can't see any chatter marks because there's no finish on the floor yet....how dumb do you think we are ? LOL!!

If you put the paper on loose it will break.. lol … Customer was very very happy and I got paid … I did hundreds of high end homes… no problems ..of course it can not be a 100% if you need that then you need the belt sander…however you can get it 98 % or better with the slotted drum … Remember for years there was no belts ,how do you think they did floors ? The Profit margin is also way way higher than the belt sander with a drum … the money you spend on sandpaper on one house .. I can do 10 🤑 .. I started sanding in the mid seventies self employed since 90 … 99.9 % success rate !! 😁✌️

Pull the paper out about 1/4 inch prior to tightening so as to get a more complete grab of the paper.

I use a template that gives me the exact length of the paper - to factory specs … what I do works that’s the reason for the video .. this is a 220 machine not the 110 volt machine … the drums are different … however you will always have some marks with these types of drum … this video demonstrates how to minimize them … completely chatter free sanding is only accomplished through using the belt type sanders … 🙂✌️

@@thrlllckr6244 Regardless of the sander being 110 volts or 200 volts has no relevance. Using a template is a guide line only. Cutting the paper at the correct angle and bending the paper according to the template is only the beginning. While your metal template will never change, your drum does. The drum will change with temperature as well as the drum wearing down. Some drum machines require a shim. While other do not. Complete chatter free sanding is not accomplished only by using a belt sander. It's accomplished by knowing how to correctly install the paper onto a drum. As as the person above stated, knowing when to back the paper out of the drum as needed. if needed.
FYI, Belt sanders can also create chatter for a couple different reasons.

Good video but every professional knows we wont see chatter in this video without a finish on it. If we were able to see chatter in this video theres no chance in hell you would have a profitable business. However all flooring professionals know a good buff will eliminate the chatter marks.
