But many rappers and basketball players come from disadvantaged backgrounds. They are currently wealthy, but they may still have a ‘poverty mindset’.
It’s not 100% of the time; but I do think there probably is a psychological component of preferences in women nurtured by socioeconomic upbringing.

i remember learning in school about the concept of "new money" and "old money," i think bc it was referenced to in some book we were reading. the book said something very similar. "Old money" means the family has been wealthy for generations, they're comfortable and confident in their socioeconomic standing and therefore do not feel the need to show it off (there are exceptions of course). "New money," like in the case of rappers and athletes, etc., has never had this type of lifestyle before, so they show it off in every way possible to prove their wealth to the world. in the end though, it all comes down to one's character. money can't buy class, as they say.

As a person who grew up in a wealthier, more rich household, she 100% explained it perfectly for the "rich men" section, at least at a personal level. Of course you shouldn't generalise, but I'd say this is pretty accurate. Especially if it's an old money, and not new money type rich.

Social class is not just about finances. There are also culture difference between the working class and the middle classes. With that in mind, what that lady was saying makes sense.
I think it relies more on race and culture rather than wealth, I also think it varies generation to generation.
But historically, the races that are attracted to the BBL types are generally lowest in economic status. The wealthier races tend to trend slender.

This is more complicated than socioeconomic alone, culture definitely plays a part as well as the old money vs new money divide. Something else to think about is this exaggerated aesthetic could be fetishized as well by many of the same men that would never be seen in public with them, we don't know what happens behind closed door. Would be interesting to ask these type of women and if they were honest what type of men approach the most i.e. the BBLs vs the model types

The stigma isn’t because of wealth rather culture. it’s more so because white men (who also happen to be the richest/ most powerful) have a cultural incline to thinness. While black/ Hispanic men (who tend to make much less on average) have a cultural inclination to curves. It’s more of a mindset thing I guess, I’m 22 years old and not anywhere near rich right now but doing good enough to be self sufficient mostly and I’d never want my fiancé to get any type of plastic surgery. I like the classy look or even a casual look as long as it’s modest that’s all that matters to me.

All of these are signs of youth, health and fertility. So at the end of the day we are evolved animals and men’s instincts are to go for a fertile looking woman. No matter the class, rich or poor.
