Oh Carol, so sorry to see this. Happy that you are okay, if a bit shaken, poles and awnings can be replaced. Hope everything is back up soon and you are feeling less shaken ♥🫂
Hi really sorry regarding awning I had similar problems with new camptech awning the first night in February we woke up to really heavy rain my wife had to keep pushing the water off with a broom the next day we made extra roof poles with the old Isabella poles from our previous awning so my wife put in a extra roof pole in each camptech space and three at the end were we had a slight curve in the roof it's the only way we could stop the pudding we were so lucky to have the extra roof poles I think camptech should look at the problem with the roof poles the were with the awning not being enough as I had read a lot off Atlantis awning having this problem
@andrewclarke5051 Hi, thanks for your advice a few people have said about extra poles so I think it's definitely worth doing and it's good to get the advice from.someone with the same make of awning 😊. I'm still absolutely gobsmacked how the caravan awning rail wasn't ripped off with all the weight of the water!! Have a good day 😊

@lynnhirst1 Thank you so much for your lovely comment it really means a lot 💗 No its not been an ideal situation with the awning and it's a bit of an obstacle course at the mo, trying to get in and out of the van with the awning half up and half down 🤣. Fingers crossed it'll be back up in the next couple of days 🤞😊

@@michaelpurcell4464 The poles are the strongest you can get, I think it was more down to me not being more vigilant with the heavy rain and adjusting them accordingly. Lesson learnt for when the new ones come 😊

I really feel for you Carol. I have the same awning. When it was up I put in extra storm poles and roof rafters to stop the rain pooling. I think its because they are so big this happens. I left mine up for 14 months but i reinforced the poles with 2 x1 and 3x2 lengths of wood. Fortunately I work on the campsite all year and was able to keep an eye on it. I hope you get everything sorted. Take care.
@scubadiver617 Morning, it came with the roof rafters that go across the length of it and I put them were it was showing on the diagram which was near the middle. I've put it back up yesterday and put those poles about 2ft from the caravan and it definitely has put more a slope...is that right would you say. I've also ordered more roof poles so fingers crossed it will be OK 🤞. Thank you so much for watching and commenting it's really appreciated ❤️
Drop your front poles to angle the roof down a bit if extremely rain is expected. Empty roof first before untightening your poles. Maybe get more rafter poles to strengthen roof too. The joys of camping!
@hayard61 Morning thanks for the tips really appreciated 😊. I've finally got it back up and altered all the poles this time to give more of a run off if it rains. It's just tricky getting it right when it's first put up on this pitch as I'm on quite a slope and always have to jiggle them about a bit. When we have been on holiday, we have had some close calls with the wind. We were staying at the very top of scotland, and the camp site over looked the sea. Anyway about 4am, the wind picked up and bloody hell it was like a whirl wind. We had to move our cars to try and shield the awning, we were thinking the wind was going to lift it. Also i have seen failure exactly like that, poor couple awning failed, due to the rain. The site owners were trying like hell to get in touch with them about it, The couple were paying the fee for the year.
@procta2343 The wind can certainly do a lot of damage to them. On my site everyone has storm straps which certainly help but if that wind wants to destroy things...it will.
