What's funny (but also a little sad) is that the developers of this game said they wanted to innovate the RTS genre... Apparently they didn't realize that _Pikmin_ exists and already innovated in all the ways Minecraft Legends was trying to do, over two decades prior, and with significantly better execution. 💀
I mean Dungeons was really successful but they stopped updating it and doing content for it because of Legends, and instead of going back to updating it after legends fail they left it to rot
They didn't stop updating MC Dungeons because of Legends. It was never meant to be a live service game, most of the team moved onto a new project like MC Dungeons 2, and also they are an entirely different team with an entirely different partner compared to MC Legends.
@@minewrecked5775 Exactly! I don't understand why some people think that Dungeons, Legends, Java and Bedrock are developed by the same team. They clearly stated that the Dungeons team is separate to the Legends team and works on a new game (which we know almost nothing about except that there may be an Ender Dragon)
@@Yegor_MechanicMarketplace too. Like people feel entitled to the updates because Marketplace brings in money but they're separate and most games don't get free updates, let alone for 15 years 😅
Minecraft Dungeons had a different development team than Minecraft Legends. Dungeons did not die for Legends. The Dungeons team is probably working on something else from what I've seen.
you gave it about 4 more hours than I did and as someone who plays civ6, the game felt like it was trying to be an mmo with the camera and with how you actually get involved in combat, but said "screw it lets put some coc in this game"
If I'm being honest here I hate the fact that they made a more enjoyable game cost less than a not so enjoyable game. I mean common on! I don't regret spending 20bucks on Dungeons because when the trailer and the gameplay came out I was hyped. When the trailer for Legends came out though for some reason I wasn't hyped and I know see why. No way I'm spending 40bucks on a game that most don't enjoy at all. I'm curious to see if anyone liked actually Legends?
The animation of the story cutscenes is beautiful, other than that the game is just boring which sucks cause I was really hoping it would've been more fun.
My biggest issue is that there’s no way to upgrade your troops as I feel like that would’ve made the progression feel so much better. All of the regular golems you get at the beginning are almost useless against the later stage piglin troops and the firsts are just too OP so I needed up just using the first and as soon as they die you can just teleport to a village and they respawn so there’s no need for any other troops
The worst part is, it technically does, with the Allays. But since the Allays A) have to be put down manually. B) have such a small collection radius. C) automatically stop and return to you when your inventory is full. and D) for 90% of the game can only collect one resource at a time, they are super annoying to use. BUT, they will keep collecting those resources no mater how far away you get. If there was an option to just tell Allays to collect everything in a massive radius and wait there until you needed more they would function as a proper unit for collecting resources. Hell let them explore and collect randomly on their own! But no, its gotta be super manual and full of micromanagement.
I think Mojang has the potential to make good spinoffs and do try with them, but Mojang has attracted a lot of talent not so used to making new games (they're just fans of Minecraft in general). They co-develop with smaller 3rd party studios, come up with good ideas, but don't execute on them the best they could. With a new CEO coming into Mojang recently as well as Xbox probably helping them a bit more to get a high rated spinoff out, I could see them slowly improve over time, especially with the internal development teams learning from the current spinoffs and trying to improve future developments both for higher ratings and more popularity.
I would say that this sort of game has been done, and can be done well. Both of the Overlord games, all of the Pikmin games, and Brutal Legend are all third person hero-RTS titles. But you can't have stuff happen behind the player's back, and I do agree there needs to be delegation. Maybe if a town was above some abstract defense threshold, it couldn't be destroyed, or could only be done so by deliberate enemy action, such as sending a major force the player would be alerted of. Resource collection like this also makes no sense given the strict timing mechanics in this game.
legends isnt in an alternate universe,it is basically minecrafts history but told by legends so it is told by an unreliable source and parts of it is likely altered
Except it's pretty much like saying "ancient alien theory is basicaly history but tld by unreliable source". But even disregarding that it was still trashy idea for a game.
I 100%ed this game and gave every Lost Legend at least a shot. It sucked total ass. The Lost Legends were better than the base game, but even then I wouldn't have tried it if it wasn't half off. Only good thing about it was the cutscenes, which in the modern gaming landscape isn't really saying much. Controlling your troops is clunky and the gameplay of "blow up these 12 portals" gets repetitive real fast. 1:14 The story is weird, but not quite in the way of "alternate universe." It's supposed to be a children's story Villagers read to their kids on where the Ruined Portals and Illagers come from. It's set in the same universe as and is canon to baseline Minecraft, just a few 100 or 1,000s of years ago and with a bunch of details embellished or exaggerated. 1:44 Again, this game is in the past. It happens back when most of the Piglins hadn't been zombified yet. I'm even more old school in that I'm just happy the non-zombie Pigman mob finally got in the game in some form after like a decade of Notch and Dinnerbone saying they would never going through with it.
And it's practically a time paradox as your character gets sent back to this time period and then gets sent back to your characters current time (the Minecraft time period) only to get sent back to the legends time period.
Which one do you recommend buying on PC: legends deluxe, dungeons deluxe or minecraft bedrock + java? The boy who wants it is 10 years old and likes basic Minecraft... he likes creating houses or castles with cubes, exploring the worlds, etc.
Sounds like he just likes playing regular Minecraft, so I would just get the regular bedrock and java because that's the original game. Legends and Dungeons are two spinoffs that are a different genre.
6:00 about this whole section where you talk about the resource management, how many resources are you using 😭 I didn’t have an issue with that at all. Also about that part where you talked about the game feeling like it has no sense of progression I can kinda understand and agree with. I think it’s really just a personal issue with you though and your managing your time right. I always just go for the bases 1 by 1 and take out the factions 1 by 1 and boom it’s easy.
Minecraft legends is like 1000x worse than Minecraft, unlike Minecraft it is supposed to have progression be a big part of it, yet Mojang even failed at that.
I can’t believe they let go Minecraft dungeons for this game and now this one is just sitting there in the dust to bad I hope they are preparing like a new thing that’s going to change the whole game but I hope it’s not done yet rip dungeon hope legends will be better soon even though it’s probably impossible
I played a bit of it and got bored really quickly. It felt like an absolute slog trying to go through battles. After dealing with the first Piglin outpost, I put the game down because I felt like it was just going to be more of the same tedious gameplay of your minions and you slowly doing damage. But what do I know? Maybe I'm just not really a fan of RTS games. Frankly, I probably could have put this game down out of boredom just from the tutorial alone.
I'm a casual player who also played bloons and this game was quite fun when I played it, maybe just got gud? Mostly joking but I see why people don't like this game but I think its fun for what it is
i started to paly the game 2 days ago for soem hours and for myself who played warcraft and starcraft ist not such a game... but i must say i have fun. its an easy to understand game and the cut scenes and voice actor is well made.
