Good episode. I used to like Bowmore but that was a very long time ago. I bought a Douglas Laing 8 year not long ago and it's still doing the rounds. It's aged in a refill barrel but only bottled at 46% and, therefore, rather expensive for what it is. Any half-decent Bowmore costs a fortune nowadays. Suntory really ruined that distillery.
Excellent episode Chris, very informative. I have bought Hunter Laing bottled Bowmore in the past, when it was affordable (!). Can’t remember exactly the age as I’ve since lost my notes from that period. However, I do remember it being an exceptional dram. Not sure what the official bottlings are like nowadays - you do read varying comments on social media.
Hi Andy. I retasted the distillery 12 year old about 3 years ago and it was very much the same as it had been for a number of years now. As I said it is a bad whisky, it's just not what it was.
