Ladies and Gentlemen, the future of modeling is here! Now we can fully build our own models with proper tools, that's absolutely insane, love the model too! Great attention to details!
This week I thought the same thing, I have my 3D printer and I am already starting to print the models that I like the most, I think it will replace the kits that we have been buying for decades
Man, the entire time I just kept saying, outloud (to myself lol), "Damn that looks SO good!" and "God, thats SO SICK!" Really this is nicely done dude. A pleasure to watch from start to finish!
@@idaemonplasmo Perhaps Gods of Modelling decided to take "special scene Tax" for that scene with slow-motion. But I have to admit this is my favorite scene. Love it! Worth it! ;) Thanks again for sharing your process and inspiration. Good luck with next projects. Nik from Riga
I just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration. Last week I decided I wanted to make a build video relating to Dune on my channel and decided to make an Ornithopter, then I came across your video and you beat me to it! With amazing success I must add, and it inspired me to show a little more of the process of cleaning and preparing 3d prints on my own video. I'm not sure how I didn't found your channel before now, but I am happy I did and immediately subscribed. Congrats on all your success and looking forward to you hitting 1 million subs.
The ornithopter became an instant favourite of mine in terms of sci-fi craft. In no small part because Dune was an absolute masterclass in sound and visual design, which meant that the ornithopter was incredibly memorable. It is so cool to see one in physical form and your model is absolutely incredible. Once I have my own printer back up and running I think it will have to be on my to do list! Absolutely incredible work.
The Ornithopter (flapping wing aircraft) concept goes back to the nineteen thirties but no successful ones have been built because they shake themselves to pieces. Modern materials tech might make it possible but I don’t see anyone trying anytime soon. When Frank Herbert first published Dune he didn’t describe them in detail, leaving it up to the reader’s imagination. The film versions have indeed sucked until this latest version, and I think Herbert would be happy with it. Incidentally, the Corridor Crew channel did a video about how the wings were done for the movie. Surprise, they were not CGI! They literally did stop motion animation with physical models same as David did for the closing beauty shot. The film people added motion blur of course. Never seen a RUclips modeler show an action shot of their models before. Very cool.
They did a fantastic job on the 'thopters. It's no easy task making a flapping craft look mean and not like a toy dragonfly. The Baron looks badass this time. No moments with Sting strutting out of a pain amplifier wearing blue space underwear like the last one. 😅
Beautiful work! I've loved the Dune saga for decades, and the ornithopters never looked right until this version. While the color scheme looks simple, it fits with standard military paint styles and the very subdued palette used by House Atriedes. Long Live The Fighters!
Thank you. As a sci-fi fan.. this brings so much joy. Hope you will do a diorama with it. And also hope you will do other vehicles from cult sci-fi movie
there was an obscure early 1980s sci fi movie i believe called "Battle Beyond the Stars" ang Robert Vaughn had a ship that resembled a womans torso and had a female voice.... cheesy, i know but the ship was cool as hell and would make a great addition to a cult sci fi model collection
The ornithopter is the most mesmerizing job of technology mimicking biologicals in sci-fi to date IMO. I've always been a helicopter and wing in ground nut, so the ornithopter ticked my box perfectly. And as likely most of you have watched dragonflies in amazement. Their weight distribution, wing placement and even their eyes are for a super wide range of vision perfect for flight. Better I'd argue than raptors.
Another outstanding build. Sir envious you have one of these. BTW...the slight yellow/gold tint in many aircraft windows is due to an extremely thin layer of gold applied between the glass panes to conduct electricity (windshield warming, etc.)
Have you tried cut the supports before curing? Its a lot easier cutting these with a sharp blade before curing. If you are not overcuring model, supports can seperate pressing by finger to joints and wont leave a scar on surface. Also i love your style and learned lots of things from you for years. Appriciate!
Looks fantastic! I recently started using UV resin in builds and you can get some great gap filling by mixing it with talcum/cornstarch/baby powder if you have large gaps or layer lines to fix (like from a filament printer).
“Bless the Maker and His water. Bless the coming and going of Him. May His passage cleanse the world. May He keep the world for His people.” I loved the film, adore the books, played the original 'Dune' game way back in the day. The 'thopter has always been my most favoured thing. What an incredible build! I cannot even. Also, if the wings keep causing trouble, getting them FDM printed might be the way, as that will be a little less brittle and offer a bit of 'flex'.
Saw the movie in the theater in 1985. I walked out of it saying "what did I just watch"?😅 A few days later I found the paperback and "borrowed" it from my highschool library (forever). I have read it a couple of dozen times over the years and I am still as amazed today as I was back then...how Frank Herbert managed to cram 10,000 years of religion, empire, planetary strife, ecology, persecution and a messiah into 500 pages and make it such an incredible story. And I love watching the movie from the 80's and feel certain letdowns watching the current one because of it. 😅 That cheesy 80's version festered and attached itself to my brain stem. I would love to see someone print and paint a Sardukar figure from both versions of Dune.
I heard of a trick when it comes to plastic resin. When you use the plastic glue the stuff that melted slightly so they can bond together. If you take left over spews from plastic kits and put in an empty jar and put a little bit of that plastic glue in it, it'll melt it and make a slurry. Some people use that slurry to cover up cracks and scratches for plastic model kits. I can't remember the video unfortunately if you want to look it up on RUclips
That is by definition not an ornithopter, but an *insectithopter,* as it is based on a dragonfly, not a bird (like a hawk, for example, the loteral symbol of House Atreides).
Спасибо огромное, потрясающая модель и качество видео, очень вдохновляет, что есть люди зарабатывающие на любимом деле!) Успехов вам, лайкнул и подписался)

Thank you. I appreciate it. I had it the same, primarily when one wing cracked while filming a stop-motion video. "God Damn" 😅
Full agreement great work.

That is one AWSOME model!
:o)
Two videos in under ten days? Hell yeah! Love your work❤
Thanks. Now, it is going to be a small gap. I have more difficult projects on the table. 😅😅
beautiful build!... can you be more specific with the paint that you used for the windows please..

Loved the camera trick to make the wings flap at the end.
The thumbnail alone is SICK!
Thank you. As a sci-fi fan.. this brings so much joy. Hope you will do a diorama with it.

AMAZING attention to detail and AMAZING stop motion work. This is my favorite video of yours!
The stop motion was my first try ever, so I am glad you like it.

Thopters are literally my favorite design of an aircraft
Thank you , David .

Another awesome vid, i really love those Ornithopter design!
1st class build there. Absolute attention to detail. great colour scheme.
Your models are so spectacular! I love watching them come together.
For all interested Meng will be releasing 3 model kits from Dune - Harkonen and Atreides Ornithopters and Harvester in 1/230 scale.

The ornithopter from Lego 😍😍😍😍👍💪🤙
Your ornithopter nice 👍
A pleasure to see that model in your hands, someday i want to bring one to my channel, thank you for sharing this Ornithopter !
The wings moving animation at the end was great!
That is the best nodel I've ever seen. Incredible
Marvellous work. The way you problem solve is incredible.
acrylic paints can be reactivated with acetone, which won't dissolve the pla but will soften it
WOW. IT WAS WORTH WAITING FOR STARTUP SEQUENCE. GREAT JOB ON ANIMATION AND SOUND!!!!!
Really cool ! Especially appreciated the stop motion at the end ! Thanks
For resin prints it helps to soak the supported parts in warm water before removing them. It helps to soften them and make it easier to remove
Fear is the Mind Killer. Awesome job.
Wow, so cool, well done, sir!
Holy shit. Now that is AWESOME! Nice work!
So beautifull ! great job !
Watching videos like this makes me realize I'm not using my printer to its full potential, Great work!!!

Wow!!! A stunning paint job.
I like the animated presentation.
And the video greatly profits from the sound track.
A great model of a Dune Ornithopter. Very inspiring.
*Strange SF vehicle which looks similar to the first prototypes of helicopters, and great build!*
Beautiful craftsmanship!
Outstanding, really outstanding. I have been a fan of Dune since I first read the book 30 years ago. I tire of nothing related.
outstanding work considering the mechanical complexity.
Fantastic work! Looks just like the movie!😮👍🏽🙌🏽
Looking awesome! Loved these in the film

wow super cool. where did you download the model?
I second the question. Can we get the model files to print it ourselves?
I just saw Lego created this kit, but this version is much more prefferable. 🔥🔥🔥

Fantastic work. Show us your workspace and the camera setup please.
Thanks for another Video brother. Always great seeing your work.
