Thanks for the tips but I would like some clarification. Are you using the airplane pitch/roll/yaw axes or the helicopter cyclic and tail rotor axes? Thanks.
As someone who used to loved flying the Ornie in the original Dune in the 90s I still can’t believe I get to do it again in VR! Just put on the original soundtrack and I’m back in the game.
Great tutorial I gave my MSFS 2020 a rest for a year while I saved up for my 4090. Just got back into it tonight and I must say this is by far my new favorite. Great tutorial btw 👌
You're good at this, these helpful quick instructional vids. You give us the info we need without filler and attention stretching rhetoric. Great stuff.
good point: SC space brake shouldnt over rule any other input given to the ship, insead it should just try to cancel out any movement vector that has no or opposite inputs
Personally I like the flight model for the most part. The air brake is very powerful, but I can understand that that might be seen as a novel fly-by-wire function. However, what really grinds my gears is the lack of sideslip when doing knife-edge manoeuvres. The Ornithopter has basically no mechanism to control sideslip at those extreme attitudes and yet the thing floats almost as well as if you were level. Sure it helps in the missions but its just weird. I feel if you're going to add a completely fictitious aircraft then you have a responsibility to match up whatever it looks like mechanically to the flight model you give it.
I'm actually kinda sad that they didn't fully recreate the real flight capabilities of a vehicle that flies like dragonflies. Dragonflies can produce thrust in any direction except side ways. so up, down, forward, back, without modifying their attitude. allowing them to hover with their body verticam, facing down, or even upside down, and ornithopters in this config should be able to do the same. which means they shouldnt need to pitch forward and back for forewards and rearwards movement. otherwise pretty cool craft. making me want to buy MSFS just for this ahaha
All the abilities you've said, and many others more, in so little weight... Something like from 0.2 to 1.2 grammes... From 0.007 to 0.035 oz. Dragonflies are really exceptional. I hope the wirds I've used are right... Salute from France
Space brake is a unidirectional brake. I do not use it much at all. Just use rear strafe and boost, which will do the exact same thing as space brake. If you want to strafe in other directions at the same time, you can also add those inputs while braking.
Na space brake in SC is shit everyone knows that and the new master modes isn't solving squat diddly either. SC really needs to figure out better flight and combat mechanics and fast.
One of the greatest DLC for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Another potential should be looked forward are planes from: Ultraman series, Disney Talespin, SWAT Kats, Ring Raiders, Pocco Rosso, Area 88, Batwing from Batman movies, Quinjets from Avengers, Nadia: The Secret Of Blue Water, Laputa The Castle Of Sky, Last Exile
2:14 you have NOT understood the flight model at all.. it behaves like a helicopter at low speeds but transfers to a more fixwinged flight at transition speed.
The Ornithopter flies more like a fixed pitch helicopter. Similar to an RC Drone. Add the afterburner and you have Airwolf all over again. Only thing missing is guns and missiles!
Hello help! I have a problem when I activate the boost I do not see the flame coming out and I also do not see the effects on the ground during takeoff/landing or at ground level (dust and drag), where this could come from the bug ? I uninstalled the extension and then reinstalled it. Thanks in advance
Somebody also has the bug, that the afterburner fireanimation just went missing? I had it for a couple of days, then someday it was just gone. It still glows slightly to indiciate the afterburner, but the real flame is gone. Somebody knows this and how to fix it?
The MSFS 2020 doesn't have a dragonfly-like flight model. Instead, they configured it with a fixed-pitch helicopter model and complemented by two jet engines to provide additional thrust for people who like jets. This way Orni can appeal to helicopter and jet pilots alike.
C’est du contenu optionnel. Il faut pas oublier que c’est un “sim” qui a pour but d’être pour tout le monde. Si tu veux du réalisme je te conseille x-plane 11 ou le 12 qui est plus récent.

This game needs explosions for moments like that haha

I just started flying the Orni in VR. I'm in awe. It's like a dream come true--flying an ornithopter.
The Ornithopter is the coolest thing I've ever seen
100%
agreed

That is really, really cool. I love that Flight Sim keeps adding these amazing sci-fi vehicles.

My dream version of the Aurora comes to Flight Sim! Can't wait to give this a shot
Buddy, that’s not aurora. If you want aurora, darkstar.
It’s official. This is my new favorite plane in the ENTIRETY of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. I can’t get enough. Can’t stop flying this BEAST!
This is awesome. I'll have to try it out tonight. Looking forward to your races and to see how you all take advantage of the quirks.
Once you get going forward the wings will keep propelling you you don’t need to hold the afterburner

I just picked up MSFS 2020 solely for the Dune addition lol, pretty sure it's on sale still on Steam as well

After watching dune part two in Dolby Atmos I played it and got tremendous satisfaction. Truly amazing.
Ps. You do need a joystick at least. 🕹️
Dragonflies figured this out millions of years ago. Glad to see we are catching up with them.
They shoulve given these flight dinamucs for the pelican, instead of that weird flight model they gave it

I’m a little late to the party, but what is the name of the control for starting the engines?
Can you fly in Flight simulator with duel sticks? I come from Star Citizen and don't really want to buy a throttle, but I really want to fly this.
Can you *Dive* AND *After Burn* too at the same time? :o
For a REALLY fast boost of speed.
Yes!

awesome, can't wait to try myself
Jaký software na to používaš?
Ayy, did they added proximity assist to the MSFS? And y'all telling me that SC is useless : )
I turn off proximity assist in SC
which canyon are you at?

Somebody knows this and how to fix it?
I’m on controller, so I don’t possibly have enough wrappable buttons to be able to actually fly it
where where you flying?
Marble Canyon near the Colorado River.
How do you free fly in it?
anyone know how to pitch nose up or down on moust and keyboard?
diving into flapping mode would let you pull up faster sure, but it's not nearly as cool
Like in Ariwolf
WHAT GAME I WANT IT SOO MUCH!
🤣😂 Ornee Thopter 😂🤣
Ornithopters form Dune didn't need jet engines to fly forward, same as dragonflies don't

Cloud imperium games never learns from its mistakes. But! As for the copying issue, they copied Elite and Dangerus to the core.🤣
C'est de pire en pire MFS....c'est absolument pas un simulateur mais un simple jeux finalement.
