Juan Caesar I fell into that same weird unmotivated funk about 2 weeks ago... maybe cause it’s summer and I’ve been distracted with friends, girlfriend etc... but sometimes you just gotta look at the hard truth and say “do I wanna get out of shape again, do I wanna wait till I’m 35 and be mad that I didn’t get in shape when I was young and more able to do it” cause if you don’t get into shape when your young it’s a lot harder to do it when you older and have more responsibilities.......so it’s either get back in the gym and do it 2x harder or get fat and sad 🤷♂️🤷♂️😂😂 Don’t worry tho, many people get into a funk but it’s easy to get out of

Tiro Tenten It really does! I guess everything that makes us healthyer, makes us happier to a certain degree. Can't solve every problem like that, but it feels SO good! When heavy stuff becomes lighter every day...
I'm going to give this a go. I was given 12-14 months to live in February, because of a grade IV glioblastoma brain tumor. I don't know if I'll fall into the 75% who don't live longer than a year. The odds are against me, but that 25% has to filled with those who didn't. I'm going to get in as good shape I've ever been, with however much time I have left. And what Joe Rogan says is true. Whichever route you take, slacker or doer, your brain rewards you either way. Only the healthy route is free of guilt and remorse that come with letting your body go to shit. I'm nearly 20 lbs overweight. I'm confident that I can complete some of these 30 day challenges, and get into shape. Thanks, Joe Rogan.
That's what most people don't get. You have to make exercise part of your lifestyle; feeling that crunch, that physical strain is a good thing, it means you're putting yourself on the path. If you persist and make it a part of you, you'll not only be physically stronger, but you'll also be less oppressed to doing things that need done in general, you'll be more positive mentally, and have more energy.
17 and weighing in at 195 lbs. I’ve been working out since New years. I’ve definitely gained muscle, but i also managed to gain fat. I feel better about myself but still slightly self conscious about myself. What did you do to lose all that weight? I plan on doing a long fast to attack my fat stores and enter ketosis, but i want to hear what you did
Steven Maya mainly stuck to weight lifting and added 20 mins of cardio after every workout. Worked out 4-5 days a week and stayed in a caloric deficit. Any more questions follow my Ig
One of the things that really hit home is that when I slack off on the exercise, I slack off on all aspects of my life. The discipline FOR YOUR LIFE looses momentum and everything suffers. Thank you for reminding me. I'm back to my exercise routine today!
That's dope man! But if I were to give ya some advice it would be do it for you! Not for others! At the end of the day they probably don't really care if you're fat or skinny! They just say it because it makes them feel better bout themselfs..
Hahahahahahahah, so true, but honestly I often play the podcast while working out in the morning :D Just do my routine and listen some new ideas same time :D
do it.....but not just tommorow, just do it i promise you, i PROMISE, you will be happy and confident and make others happy, trust me on that, truuuuus me!
I always feel like shit after working out! Like nauseous, weak and jittery. I used to work out a lot and it was always the same thing. I did it despite the way it made me feel, not because of it.
That's one of the best traits a Tier 1 Special Ops Operator could have so it must be a valuable asset to have as a person! It's like like being in a fight.. whoever is comfortable being uncomfortable has a clear advantage cause most fights happen quicly is its hard to get experience!
I have PTSD and depression and my doctor recommended exercise so today I went to the gym for the first time in a year... I'm excited but so nervous to start again!
@Alexia Zamora It was going well but I attempted suicide in November by jumping 50ft and now I'm in a wheelchair. Still doing daily exercises and can't wait until the gym reopens to start again :)
I recommend The wim Hof method as well. Meditation and yoga can help as well. Try to Eat organic and quit sugar. Maybe dopamine detox? Start working out more and feed more positive stuff to your eyes and ears.
This is so spot on, after I really dedicated myself to working out it probably took me 6 months before I looked forward to working out and became my happy place. For those who are starting just stay disciplined and don’t rely on motivation, one day it’ll switch.
Joe Rogan has a masterful way of putting things in context. In this video he lays out the massive benefits of exercise IN EVERY ASPECT OF LIFE. Do NOT embrace the path of the "Fuck Off"! Enhance your current life experience!
“Just Do It” - Nike every time i don’t want to do something, i think of this phrase. getting started is the hard part but once you’re in that moment it’s honestly not that bad. whatever you’re trying to accomplish, Just Do It :’)
honestly, i think the reason this is so effective is because it motivates you, but it doesn't motivate you too much. it doesn't give you ridiculous expectations. instead, it makes you believe that you can do it, and it makes you motivated to change for the right reasons. it doesn't give you false hope. it gives you that push that you need. nothing more, nothing less.
James did you know you can turn off the feature used to track your interests to maintain your "privacy"? Or the do not track feature available on literally every browser available? It's moments like these that remind me how much of an idiot some people can be.
Bottlekap you start off nice like you're going to explain how to turn off tracking for devices but ultimately just call him an idiot. Rise above, people.
James it’s odd because literally last night I was putting notes in my phone about being more motivated to do better at track, work more, and just do better in school. I thought the video was great but it was a weird coincidence
This video literally changed my life when I watched it 3 years ago. I'm back to pass it on to friends, remembering how much of an impact it had on me. From a beer belly slob at 98kg. Now 3 years later, 83kg, 170kg squat, 190kg deadlift, 100kg bench. All slow and steady. It started by going on the treadmill for a walk after watching this video
Still on the grind since the stage was set by this video. I've been two years sober, career consistently on upward trajectory, weighing 88kg, deadlifting 270kg, squatting 210kg and benching 125kg these days.
Workout is probably one of the very few things, if not the only thing, can bring only positive change to your life, the more you workout, the more positive change you can see on your body. Your job might fail you, your relationship might fail you, but workout won't.
Almost impossible to achieve this without healthcare for me. Physical therapy gave me the ability to get where Joe is talking about. 15 years of chronic pain and now im training for triathlons. Happy to be alive. Hope you are too.

Roberta Lust I still did, my body is pretty much broken into the gym except my leggies... I need to be running in 2 days so I'm using that as a bs excuse
The most motivation I felt is when I stopped needlessly putting pressure on myself. Get rid of that “movie” mentality, that you have to suffer immensely to reach these goals and things you want. It’s just working out. It’ll maybe hurt a little bit. You’ll feel amazing throughout the day. You get to plan your week out and set goals and take on new challenges. It’s fun. It might seem like this hard thing that you have to force yourself to go to do, it’s not. Don’t stress yourself out for it. You’re only missing out on the experience. Go work out today, you deserve it
Starting to think many of our societal ailments come from lack of connection (think addiction as dis-connected) and fear of discomfort. This is another piece in that puzzle. Also - the illustrator = AMAZING.
just had a massively shitty day, ended it with a good gym session. Came out another person. Anxiety and depression are pervasive and truly fcked, but exercising REALLY really helps me deal with the more hardcore feelings. Takes the edge off, liberates me for a whole different perspective on life. What i now struggle with is more a sense of being kind to myself when i dont meet my goals or dont improve as fast as i can. Its all good if i just keep at it, one step at a time. Keep perfectionism under control and avoid comparing with other people who are naturally fitter becoz they ve been training for a longer time. Sometimes i go training and i still feel a little overwhelmed (everyone is fitter than me, blablabla) but the rush that comes after giving my best at it... its priceless. And the mental benefits are FAR superior than the physical ones, no matter how greatly you improve phisically... its always gonna be even better between your ears. 🤜🤛
The momemtum thing is so true. I'm on a student exchange and I have much less classes, homework and things to do / attend to. When I look at last year, I was always working and studying, this year is litteraly a long spring break and whenever I have to actually start working I have trouble to do so.
Damn, this is true for me as well. I'm so lazy whereas I absolutely shouldn't be, especially not right now in this stage of my life. I need and want to change that!
It can be really hard to just start off from scratch, especially if we have never done it before so we have not experienced the good feelings of exercising. We often will only do something when we are in enough pain that we need to get up and do something because we can't stand to be in that place anymore. Start where you are and congratulate yourself for doing something.
Its insane how much working out has mentally enlightened me. Joe is 100% right. You feel invincible. You see things for what they are and you push through them.
i notice working out especially calisthenics when i can do a workout anywhere has improve my job performance giving me so much energy from working out either during a lunch break or before going to work
After high school is quit working for two years. I gained some considerable weight and everyday felt slow and depressing. Didn't know what I wanted to study in college and had no real motivation. All I did was sit in front of my pc and play games all day. Now it's been 4 months and I've changed my life around. Making better choices. I wake up and take a cold shower everyday and then begin my workout. I've been sticking to a plan for these 4 months and I'm already seeing results physically and mentally. And you know what? A funny thing happens when you start to look better and feel better. You gain confidence and like Joe said, you gain momentum. Just pick a plan, start, and stay with it! Whether you're into bodyweight workouts, weight training, yoga whatever just start and stay with it.
After some weeks of on and off working out.. I've decided to have enough willpower to start being consistent again so I can feel strong, happy and energised again. We got this 💪
Last year I was diving deep into alcoholism and binge eating, was so depressed and low most of the time. Then I made a decision, quit alcohol and started working out. A year later and 66 pounds lighter now, physically in peak shape. Physical health impacts mental health so much. Working out really took me out of a dark place and kinda saved my life!
I'm slowly getting back into the gym after suffering an elbow blowout nearly 12 months ago. It didn't take 12 months to heal but during and after it I became depressed, I lost all motivation and let myself go. I put on some weight, began to eat like shit and treated my body with contempt. Everytime I said this is the week I go back to the gym regularly, I would go once or twice and return to my now "normal" lifestyle. It's not easy to develop a routine, and live a healthy lifestyle. It is however incredibly easy to give up. Don't let yourself give up.
I think it’s the first time of my life that a motivational video about exercise actually motivates me to exercise. It’s pragmatic and logical. I’m gonna stay humble because this is my Day 1 on this new path but I really feel like it helped. Thank you. 💛
Hey dude, I'm super proud of you for starting, I wanna start too but I don't know how.. Have any tips? How's it working out? You still motivated? Still keeping it up? If you are, awesome!

I don't understand why those people think you CAN'T be happy if you're not eating tons of sugar and fat every day. Happiness comes from lots of different things. For example, I believe I will be happier if I become ripped one day. They're just making excuses.
I consider myself athletic and spend a lot of my week and paycheck on exercise, but I think that is a great way of thinking if they genuinely enjoy it. Not everyone bases how they feel solely on their physical condition
like bill burr said: you ate your way in, now walk your way out! :-) same here! and i know what joe means. it actually is alot more fun to do something instead of just sitting on your couch.
Deadpool's Testicles Relatable. My motivation was my pencil neck, bird chest and chicken legs. Decided to change it after I realised you don't get pecs from sitting on your ass.
you still have to play the game though, being fit is just being granted an opportunity to play. And chances are she wont stick around if you have nothing else to offer but just yourself. in my opinion, the game isnt worth playing unless theres something more than just "getting laid"
Having a powerful physique hasn't done much for me in that area of things. Some things just can't be changed, working out is the difference maker for only a select majority of people
@@RetaliationOG I would say that being physically fit makes it easier for oneself to get into a relationship for numerous reasons: 1. You are physically more attractive to people 2. Your self confidence will go up 3. People who are committed to health show a sign of discipline But one thing that I believe I have learned is that just because you are fit doesn't mean you have the ability to not "put yourself out there". I mean that even if you are physically attractive, chances are the only way you will get into a relationship with someone you find attractive is if you make the first move. TL:DR If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself
@@dakotamercer1679 I definitely agree with those points, but no amount of initiative makes disproving stereotypes and an ugly face easier. I don't mean to be a pessimist, it's just a different upward battle.

Started working out when I was 15. I'm 25 now and never had any kind of medical problems (while my peers did). Training helped me through my saddest times, I went straight to the gym after my dad's funeral, it was the only thing that I felt like I wanted to do. Each muscle DESERVES to be taken care of through exercise! You will feel like a million bucks, age slower, look fantastic, have a strong mind and body. You know what the Romans said "mens sano in corpore sano" Let's get it! 💪
wow what an awesome video! Seeing the older people starting at 5:25 is so motivating. Everything you talked about is on point 100%. I just turned 40 and feel like I'm in the best shape of my life. My wife and I do yoga every morning and I mountain bike every weekend. We both can fit our clothes from highschool. One very important thing that I think you forgot to mention is food. My belief is its 60% diet and 40% fitness. People can exercise all they want but if they shove soda and processed foods down their mouths they will not progress. I am sure your video will help motivate tons of viewers, great job!
Joe rogan’s mind is really something special it’s insane how helpful and it’s clear that he makes a massive impact on peoples lives for the positive. Thankyou joe for changing my life. Great video too we all needed this! 👌🏻👏🏻
Everything he’s saying in this video is 100% true and is me 100%. I’ve worked out the past 5 days getting up at 6 am, being productive all day and going to bed at 10/11..which I’ve never done before in my entire life. And I’ve never felt better and my depression has melted away. I’m so excited to see results and I already feel amazing.

Just recently consistently got in the gym and it really has changed my outlook on life I couldn’t be happier enjoying life. I dread laying around as much as I used to dread working out.
Agree with this 100 percent. Went through a weird phase about 2 years ago...where I was out of work. Sitting in every day watching tv...playing playstation all day..was fun for the first few weeks. But I started noticing...I started feeling anxious and dizzy in public places. I didn't have motivation to do anything...didn't feel like I was enjoying anything. As a very skinny ectomorph.. I always thought gym would be a waste of time because I would never look jacked. With my genetics...I didn't see the point. However by starting to go gym..just to get healthy and feel less anxious. I honestly started feeling so much more confident...motivated and then I started seeing growth and changes. People would compliment me noticing a change and it would motivate me more. Honestly can't recommend it enough. It's improved every aspect of my life. I don't lose my temper Any more. You feel happier daily. It has honestly changed my life. Agree with everything in this video!!!
I started working out in my mid-twenties and I wish I did it way earlier. I've been exercising for 7 years now and it has become such a staple of my life that I rely on it to fix me up when other things go wrong. It won't fix all your problems but it makes you feel like you can overcome them and it gives you the motivation to try.
From this point of my life, I can surely say that fitness, exercising, gym, physical activity, and just walking and moving my body every single day made my anxiety and depression much much lesser. Gosh, I remember the days where I used to procrastinate and just stay home and play video games and just cry over how miserable my life was. I was really one of the people that are victimizing their own selves and crying over their destiny(?)... One year later, I am a smoke free, confident and well built guy that overcame a lot of things that got into my way. I don't want to attain any sort of praise by this, I just want to give some ideas to people. If you are at a low point in your life, you need to start with working out and you will see how things fall into place.

Thanks, Joe Rogan.
god bless you dude. i hope you are in the 25%.
Best of luck
Goodluck dude!!! Wish you the best!!

I developed this mentality of not feeling good when skipping gym
The trick is to turn it into a lifelong lifestyle
And not look at progress
Same *hi5* missing the place so much :(
That's what most people don't get.

One of the things that really hit home is that when I slack off on the exercise, I slack off on all aspects of my life. The discipline FOR YOUR LIFE looses momentum and everything suffers. Thank you for reminding me. I'm back to my exercise routine today!
people focus too much on exercise
My workout motivation is people kept saying I'm fat. So I gotta change that. In 5 months I lost 25 lbs. Feels good

honestly, i think the reason this is so effective is because it motivates you, but it doesn't motivate you too much. it doesn't give you ridiculous expectations. instead, it makes you believe that you can do it, and it makes you motivated to change for the right reasons. it doesn't give you false hope. it gives you that push that you need. nothing more, nothing less.
This has nothing to do with the topic but this is an appreciation post for this guy’s art, f*cking awesome.
I got an ad about the science of motivation for this video. Its moments like these that remind you that nothing you do is private.
Travis Havemeyer yes, yes I did.
James it’s odd because literally last night I was putting notes in my phone about being more motivated to do better at track, work more, and just do better in school. I thought the video was great but it was a weird coincidence

Go work out today, you deserve it
3 weeks into working out - finally want to achieve the body I've wanted for years of being uncomfortable and self conscious
Working out saved my life, it could change yours too. Best thing I started doing, highly recommend 10/10
Starting to think many of our societal ailments come from lack of connection (think addiction as dis-connected) and fear of discomfort. This is another piece in that puzzle.
Also - the illustrator = AMAZING.
Thank you!!!
I wish everyone good luck and blessing in their journey to become a better person 🙏
Consistent exercise is the only thing that keeps me going.
just had a massively shitty day, ended it with a good gym session.
Working out 7 years and no more depression🙏
It can be really hard to just start off from scratch, especially if we have never done it before so we have not experienced the good feelings of exercising. We often will only do something when we are in enough pain that we need to get up and do something because we can't stand to be in that place anymore. Start where you are and congratulate yourself for doing something.
This video deserves a billion views!
Joe's own video deserves that, this is just some cool drawings added to his rant.

Thank you. 💛

Motivation: WORK OUT IF YOU WANT TO GET LAID! 😁
There will be people out there that get laid and don’t work out. Keeping working out boy.
you still have to play the game though, being fit is just being granted an opportunity to play. And chances are she wont stick around if you have nothing else to offer but just yourself. in my opinion, the game isnt worth playing unless theres something more than just "getting laid"
Having a powerful physique hasn't done much for me in that area of things. Some things just can't be changed, working out is the difference maker for only a select majority of people
@@RetaliationOG I would say that being physically fit makes it easier for oneself to get into a relationship for numerous reasons:
1. You are physically more attractive to people
2. Your self confidence will go up
3. People who are committed to health show a sign of discipline
But one thing that I believe I have learned is that just because you are fit doesn't mean you have the ability to not "put yourself out there". I mean that even if you are physically attractive, chances are the only way you will get into a relationship with someone you find attractive is if you make the first move.
TL:DR
If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself

Holy shit this is so right. Ive been going to the gym now for a few months. For years I've gone to the gym for little stints like 6 weeks then fall off the wagon. But its totally true after a while you start craving the next work out. I look at my day and try find space for the gym now I love it. Hopefully it continues. I got a membership at quite a pricey so now I also feel like i need to go to get my moneys worth.
