But I still use RUclips and it's better if you watch better videos solely for the entertainment and educational purposes. On Instagram it is like same meme over and over again. Same shit, people either showing off or advertising shit.

@@samhammond7575 yea. there's a reason ppl say " enjoy the journey, not the destination". i guess you don't really try to go outside of your comfort zone and try some shit for a hour, day, week etc. and it turns into " idk what to do, have nothing to pursue, because i don't know what I want". that's actually very common if you didn't get hooked on something in childhood, either try to join some activity groups or as i said try to break the turtle shell where you feel secure and can be lazy, because nothing drives you forward. can't expect some magical people to appear and fix your life. time flows either we want it or not. duncans analogy of broken bone is perfect, have to break the bad habits and start something.

Any mental breakdown which can be depression and/or anxiety is a check engine light your brain turns on and needs fixing. Forget medication because it doesn't work or is supposed to be a temporary fix/help until you get ahold of yourself and make that change needed to get back to normal. You have to reprogram your brain to start enjoying life again and stop fearing your temporary malfunction. I healed from anxiety. Which was because of a long time of stress that brought me the worst anxiety disorder/insomnia/depression you can imagine. Once I said I'm not gonna fear this fearful/anxiety sickness and start living. Then I started to heal. It takes time for your brain to heal and get back to normal. That's where people lose patience and don't get out of it, thinking it'll never go away. Everybody is different. So no telling when you'll fully heal but eventually you will. I'm about 1yr and 3 months from when I changed my way of thinking and started healing. I'm at 90% back to normal. Remember. The only thing to fear is fear itself.

As the son of a schizophrenic mother, I’d say that dismissing medication is literally a life and death matter. Many people who might not need it overuse it, sure, but many people who need it aren’t taking it. Your story sounds inspiring and needs telling, but just like trying to cure cancer through diet, some mental issues can not be controlled through being more mentally strong as you’re implying.

I used to be horrible inside.. I used to have no control over myself and it's still an embarrassment to me. I used to do stuff I didn't know I didn't want to do at the time because I was "numb". We live so much of our lives through the subconscious mind just "going with the flow" until that false sense of self (ego) CRASHES. That's when we become spiritually awakened. That's when we can identify the true self and let it manifest in our body and we can become intentional with our actions.

The most profound learning I've undergone in the recent past doesn't come from "experts," but from regular human beings sharing their wisdom from direct life experiences. That is where the true knowledge originates, I think. I can tell when I listen to someone like these two that they aren't just reciting scripture from one textbook or another, but from life. That is the greatest teacher!

  • @Hlecktro
    @Hlecktro 4 года назад +68

I have a panic disorder which, sometimes when triggered, one episode can last years. This isn't just a day of freaking out. My body will get so out of whack that it just turns on the physical terror for months and months at a time. No matter how I logically think or feel about it, It just happens. The doctors always wanted to throw SSRIs and Benzos and other such things at the problem. But no matter how bad I've felt, I've always refused, choosing to take what my body is doing and face to face with it head on.
It's in doing this that I have learned the most about myself. A few times it's been so bad and I've been so frightened that I've lost total sense of who I was or who people I've known all my life were. But you know what? I know better than some random drug. I know in happiness or in despair that it's my soul speaking to me. In these extremely hard years I had no CHOICE but to connect directly to myself and identify and resolve underlying problems deep in the roots of my being. Maybe it took years, or even for me decades to do, to unwind those hard issues, but in the end I am so much happier and able as a person.
Everyone wants to run away from the anxiety and bad feelings, but covering them up isn't the solution. It's just living a half life between meaningless surface level thoughts, and ignoring the person underneath. Anxiety is a tool you can use to strip away the bullshit and grow as a person. If you have the courage to get through total collapse, face the worst parts of yourself, and see out the other side, it puts the power in YOUR HANDS to be happy in your life. Not the world around you. Not if only this, or if only that. The situation you are in now. You don't get to choose what happens to you, but YOU get to choose how you want to frame it.
Getting through depressions, addictions, and mental disorders has shaped me into the person I am today. If I had just dropped pills and thought nothing of it, I'd be like all of my other friends who are still stuck in the same loop of avoidance and haven't moved forwards. You really need to sort out what your true thoughts are. The reason it never works for most people is they have no idea what "real thoughts" are and what surface level bullshit buzzing around your brain is. There is a difference. Just because you feel bad or are CONVINCED that "something" is the reason for why you feel bad in the moment, doesn't make it true. It takes a LONG time to really sit down and sort out what is truly important, and a lot of that process is not easy.

To someone who has benefited from the experience, this certainly could seem like a minimization, but to someone who has never considered these concepts, minimization and focus on the positive is required to get the wheels turning. A full set of psychological lectures does not appeal to someone who has never considered that their core is flawed and/or that it can be repaired. Even arguing for or against (or both) your argument would be rather cumbersome without a lot of minimization. And I only argue because I too see minimization as a tool too often used to support toxic viewpoints, but to ignore the utility of a tool… I’m basically accusing you of minimizing minimization lol

Also I have to say, the worst obstacle for you to become what you want to become is you, because people that want to be themselves can’t be stopped by outside factors, they will push beyond their limits, because that is what brave people do, they go against all the odds set to stop them from becoming the one they want to be the most. External factors don’t matter, the one thing you need to be in peace with is yourself to achieve being yourself.

Yes. That really was a beautiful analogy (most personalities as a bone that healed the wrong way and needs to be SNAPPED & reset) BUT never forget, Alan Watts said that we should not try to blow a square's mind of shake up a square because those people are WALKING A TIGHTROPE holding this s#*t together - you should be in awe; they're the ones who are far out. It's true, maintaining an illusion is mad toil!

One time in RUclips I encountered some really scummy political trolls and they said they messed up things about me.

8:57 In a sense Jesus talks about that too from another side, when he says that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. it's not because of being rich, but because it's hard to not be attached to all the things you have when you are rich, and if you have too many things that keep you attached to worldly things that might not even be that important anyways then it's hard to get to the true thing, it's harder to go to that Paradise Duncan described.

This literately came on at 4am while I am trying to rectify my sleep and habits... I’ve been in this rut before and i must agree that we can decide to put a stop to it. It’s not always easy I’ve relapsed several times but I keep getting up and I keep going. It’s never easy when your going through it ever and you will fail and you will encounter bumps in the road however if you decide to keep trying change does come
After my nervous breakdown I found myself more aware and excited for life again I felt alive. I stopped smoking weed and drinking for a month it might not be long but I felt I needed to detox and find my balance again.
After I drank after a while I had so much fun and I enjoyed myself again. I would drink before and it stopped being fun. Weed also made me resent it for a while ultimately I always had a choice and I still do which is why I’m saying balance is essential with anything. In life
To anyone who’s gotten this far you prob have a similar story I just want y’all to know nothing will ever be perfect and you won’t always feel your Best But if you find the peace and balance with the now you’ll be alright

Personally, I use tech as a distraction and I'm fully aware of that. I'm a thirty year old homeless disabled guy, so...
I think of it as harm reduction. I'm one of those extreme addicts. Left alone with access to drugs, and I'll end up dead or in a coma eventually. My history proves this (close to dying many times).
So, in that light, is tech addiction good or bad? For me it basically keeps me alive.
And Joe always takes things to an extreme...necrosis from sitting too much? This isn't 1788...tech is a tool. How you use it is more important than the tool itself. Facebook can either make you Narcissistic, or help you stay connected in a healthy way by checking Facebook once in awhile. You decide how you use it.

Everyone is addicted to something. It's HOW we're addicted to it. If somebody was addicted to RUclips for the right reasons where all the content they consumed are productive and not just random shit to keep them entertained, he'll be miles ahead of the person that just watches RUclips to kill time.
These "jokes" is what kills and justifies how shitty we use technology. We laugh about it and continue to use it how we do. After watching a video like this, it just opens my eyes to how I'm using technology in a bad way, I have to wake up and use it for the right reasons moving forward.
      Perspective matters.

Don't think I have ever had a full on mental break, but due to depression and anxiety and just random life shit, I have certainly had my fair share of sobbing through gritted teeth. And I agree, I think it's in those bitter freaking moments when instead of running away from the pain, we rip open those scars and allow ourselves to be raw and honest with ourselves or with a higher power, that we really start to discover who we are. In those kind of chaotic emotional storms that shit gets washed up that we didn't even know was there, and we can kind of collect those "treasures" from the tidal wave, and hopefully emerge with a better understanding of who we are, and what we want.
