Thank you for posting this! Sometimes one doesn't have the capabilities to do this themselves. I now know punching a hole would definitely be better for my situation to create a thick shoulder to seat screws.

I came to this video to see a comparison of punch vs drill holes. I came away with an understanding of that and a respect for the mustache. That's one bad ass mustache.

Starts the punching and drilling. This exudes upbeat energy and I love it 🔥

Awesome! That 's exactly what I wanted to know ^^ Thanks. Just one more question. How do you punch the holes on a houndskull visor? With the same method? How do you even out the surface? Put it on a stake and hit it from the outside?

The drills' wrist must be exhausted from swinging a hammer all day.

How did you punch through that in 2 or 3 strikes? Is it aluminum? I'm beating 16 gauge mild steel sheet with a punch and ball-peen hammer a dozen times (backed with a tree stump) and just have a nice dent in it and a warped plate. I already broke an Eastwood 14 gauge hand punch trying to punch the holes in the plates for my Sode (pauldrons). I may have to give up and try a drill press, but I think that will go through a lot of bits (and be very slow). I need to make hundreds of holes for the lacing. Is there something special about the shape of the head on your punch or what? I think I need an industrial laser or something....... I really salute those medieval armorers making this stuff without power tools!

You are using a punch with a flat tip and a sharp corner on the edge of that flat tip right? You want the punch to sheer the steel around the slug, you aren't exactly trying to pierce the steel.

can i a punched hole to any angle direction on the plate ? suppose i punch a hole in 45° can possible?

no, you have to have a 90-degree angle, more or less. otherwise, the punch will slide off. Also the support under the metal will be hard to have in position without having it sliding.

Well typically you would be doing it next to the drill and ALREADY have the bit in the chuck.... so maybe a few seconds longer.....

yes of course, but I still think I have a point here..

@@albertcollins6427 I'm not debating that. But you were kind of bias. It's ok, I'll be drilling some holes into stainless soon so that's why I was looking at this video. Drilling, not punching lol

You must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. You must love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus the anointed is Lord! Repent and be baptized and believe the Gospel.
