Just a small critique and music history lesson. They are not typical 80s they are the band that made the entire 80s decade.
Well said brother!
Made it!!!!
utterly true.
Van Halen isn't only the guy who plays his guitar very fast. It's also his brother (Alex) who also plays the drums very fast. The best proof is the intro of "Hot for teacher".
I've always been partial to Alex's rib-rattling drums on this song. Also, Michael Anthony's underrated solid bass playing and harmony vocals. The outro is 2 minutes of bombastic rock unlike any other VH song. I've heard it 5,000 times since it came out in 1981...40 yrs and never tire of this one song.
AVH is one of the greatest percussionists that ever existed.....take a listen to Outta Love Again
.
A jam
The best guitar intro and the best guitar outro of any song ever imo
That outro still slays me 40+ yrs on, mate. Something about it, like no other song does it for me. Never tire of it.
EVH - the very best! At least we were alive during the Mighty Van Halen years because there will never be another band like them. Best front man, Greatest guitarist, killer vocals, awesome drumming. I repeat - never again!
Super TAL DAMN RIGHT IM 59 seen them live in 84 AWSOME
@@anthonydorazio9650 You have class brother!
@Super TAL Hey bro let's cut through the chase who's better then EVH, PAGE . Drums Pert and Bonham better or equal to Alex . Anthony is good we can put Wofie in there. DLR come on he's the coolest maybe Plant Bon Scott. VH THE BEST PEACE BRO.
@@anthonydorazio9650 Well, I have to say it - you the Man!
I've always thought Morello was influenced by Ed. The palm scratching on Atomic Punk, tap drumming on Mean Street, the oddball noises with whammy bar and harmonics. Ed didn't necessarily use it as a main part of the rhythm of the song but more intermittently.
Your right about that, he has stated that fact time and again...
Right on. Thanks for sharing.
Dave grew up rich. Shows how awesome of a lyricist performer he was that you thought the otherwise. A big part of the magic of VH was Dave's ability to write lyrics for difficult songs and phrasing. Other magic was Ed's relationship with Alex, brother on drums., Mike's harmony vocals, (which Ed grew tired of hearing about and not receiving the same credit for backing harmony, eventually tossing Mike out of the band), and Alex's drumming itself.
Nice reaction!
Many know of EVH as the guitarist who plays very fast, however, his brilliance lies in his composition and electrifying riffs. This song NEVER gets old!!!
Even better the second time around 😁
It is 🤘🏻🔥
Tom Morello is amazing! That said, he and every other rock guitar player would be playing old Clapton tunes if it wasn't for EVH. There was Hendrix, Edward and SRV.
and Jeff Beck.
Love your reactions bud! Give some of their live concerts a go sometime. You'll Love it!!
Eddie played the guitar and did back up vocals with Michael Anthony.
David Lee Roth is the vocalist. This is one of my favorite songs by VH. There are so many killer songs to react to. Aunt talking bout love is a good one to do next.
My good sir, you need to listen to Eddie van Halen's Live Without a Wire guitar solo. Live demonstration of how he makes these sounds without FX equipment.
The intro that you were perplexed over is a slapping technique and not to be confused with tapping (also used in the intro), Eddie's other forte. This tune is a masterpiece, I guarantee you'll revisit when it's beer and billiards time...lol. The VH catalogue is rich, but "Fair Warning" and VH 1 (self-titled) are bar none! Also, check out footage from their 1981 Concert in Oakland CA..I'll forward the link for "Unchained" ruclips.net/video/Cn8APTMyKsg/видео.html ...this band's energy (with David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar-afterward) was off the charts. Great reaction! Tom, is a great guitarist, but Eddie is the G O A T, just ask Tom..lol
This song is why Tom Morello plays like he does. He has said so many times
Dave wrote this after visiting Port-au-Prince Haiti
Great Reaction to a great band! I loved it! Would like to see what you think of Van Halen's "Ice Cream Man"
Hi guy Eddie vanhalen is lead and Ruth I’m guitarist his brother is the drummer davidlee is the vocalist 9:36
You know straight away that EVH is on the guitar 🎸🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥 Good one
After David Lee Roth left Van Halen, Sammy Hagar became the singer (you saw him in Chickenfoot) Michael Anthony, the bass player was also in Chickenfoot
You need to watch Eddie playing his Eruption guitar solo live in their wir
Eddie Van Halen on the better than average guitar, Alex "Lord of the Skins" Van Halen playing the awesome percussion section as well as backing vocals. Micheal "The Bass Bruiser " Anthony on bass guitar, also teaming up with Alex as the best backing vocals duo of all time. David "Showman Extraordinaire " Lee Roth on lead vocals. Mean Streets is my favorite Van Halen tune.
On the better than average guitar???? What do you mean???
@@supertal6074 Is he less than average?
@@bronzegod8037 taking all things in consideration, he is most likely the greatest electric rock guitarist that has ever lived - period. Better than average does not do EVH justice. I'm a very serious player and amazed at everything he does and on top of that, VH has great music. His creativity is unsurpassed.
It rocks!
Alex is my favorite drummer of all times....he's the greatest ever..( Just my opinion, before you Jackals tear into me ).....
None of them actually came from any particularly "mean streets'....they're just using their imagination...based on stories, things we've all herd and the general understanding that there ARE "mean streets" where these and other bad things can and do happen.....it's a general attitude!
David Lee Roth.
Tom Morrello might sound like Eddie, but, Ed does not sound like Tom......are you even aware of who King Edward is.....if not, you better ask somebody.....
Please, never, ever, ever mention that hack Tom Morello and Edward Van Halen in the same breath again. Morello is like the generic off brand Dollar Store soda pop version of a guitar player. Eddie was the King.
Tom morello learned his shit from EVH and will never be as good let alone anywhere near as good as EVH. And morello would be the first to admit that
Sorry but Morello couldn’t hold a candle too Eddie two totally different guitarist Ed is the King and Morello is not good
NICE ONE ?
