My favorite part of Weezer is the fact that they all look like that uncle we have who is kind of lame but kicks ass at music and happens to be in Weezer.
I have that same uncle but he's super lame and is OK at music and happens to be in a really shitty original music project that is going nowhere. OK wait, I'm actually talking about myself.
At least during the bridge he plays the guitar solo the same as on the record, sometimes improvising makes some people think it sounds better, but that lick is so legendary it should always be played the same.
Shane Vogel who John or Josh? John for the most part almost always played a different solo than what was on the record during live performances and most of them were great, Josh tries to also but always seems to just stick with studio versions.
His opening to this song was crazy. People there probably have no idea how crazy technically he got. Anyways this was a great over all version. Feel like the crowd kinda sucked. Usually the crowd sings thr whole song with him
Dude I could not agree more. The bridge and solo are fucking phenomenally genius considering this song was written by four 22 year old star wars nerds. I've jammed out to the album so much I'd almost be disappointed if I didnt hear the sa.e thing love. Especially with that godlike tone he has for that solo in this video.
If you look at the sponsoring at the beginning it has Guitar Hero Live. This was probably filmed for it and they figured they should upload the actual live version of it to RUclips
When i listen to the videoclip i just do it to listen to that final riff... this man, this band, this song... jesus... this concert also! 45 years of age and still rocking! :D
At no point was rivers ever lame. They've been"anti cool" when you stop worrying about who thinks your cool. You get to be yourself and free to chase your potential
I dunno dude, they ALL look very similar to the way they looked 20 years ago! Its pretty incredible. If I didn't know any better I would have a difficult time deciding if this performance was a year ago or 20...
Rivers’ voice really hasn’t changed much since Blue Album, and if it has, it’s just been for the better. He is the most consistent rock singer with age I think I’ve ever seen.
Mario Martines that's kinda what I said. He's good at doing what the band needs him to do, and maybe he's got some extra skill but I think for the most part he's you're average player and sometimes that's a good thing.
nothing makes me happier than hearing an awesome crowd. brings happy tears to my eyes. this is why music brings us all together. also my bandmate has that guitar strap with the lightning bolt.
dude im only half way through high school (im aussie so yr 7 to 12) and played this just the other day with a band. My ears are still rigning from the drummer, could barely hear when i tried for solo stuff but dude the feeling it gives u is insane. Yep. I said it. i said it is so
One of the greatest live bands to ever play a crowd. If you haven’t seen them live and you’re a fan, PLEASE do. It’s a treat beyond words. An experience you’ll never forget.

This was one of the last songs they played when I saw them live. I love them so much. And I feel special being one of the only kids in my town who listens to them. They are amazing!
Oh my gosh..I swear these guys do not get enough credit for how good they are and the fact that they sound better live then on the cd which takes raw talent. These older bands didn't have help making them sound good like these newbies do.
I'm a firm believer in playing the song the way it was recorded with very little deviation, and also playing it and presenting yourself as if no one has ever seen you or the song before. This seems to have done that. Awesome.
They sound almost like the studio recording even after 21 years! I like this version more than the studio version but the studio is 100/100, this one is 101/10 Also, "Goodnight Humans!" - Rivers Cuomo

♫ Evolved Tracks ♫ - Listening Evolved my uncle looks like rivers and he plays
I've had exactly 0 uncles who fit that description.
basically Rivers' aesthetic went from nerdy highschool kid to quirky college professor
Seem's he'd be reasonable to play against in a game of Monopoly, not hogging Park Place and all the Railroads.
Rivers went to my high school. EO Smith
yeah
Doesn’t he have a PHd in literature?
AleisterMeowley from Harvard no less.
John also did an improv in scar tissue live.

oh shit i have to play that some day
can confirm they used this for guitar hero live
this is so fucking sick. just hearing that first riff, i felt what the audience was feeling.

I just realised, rivers went from being one of the lamest 20 year olds to being one of the coolest 40 year olds and he didn't even change
SprinkleBomb Rivers was always cool dude
At no point was rivers ever lame. They've been"anti cool" when you stop worrying about who thinks your cool. You get to be yourself and free to chase your potential
Now 50
for a 45 year old dude Rivers dont look a day older back in 1995. He still looks like the poster boy for the dorky 90's teen. Thats a compliment btw.
sadly. i think his aging is a little bit visible
I dunno dude, they ALL look very similar to the way they looked 20 years ago! Its pretty incredible. If I didn't know any better I would have a difficult time deciding if this performance was a year ago or 20...
of course it is, but he doesnt look ALMOST 50
sure he does...idve guessed late 40's...your concept of age is off mine used to be too
his guitar keeps him young that's why😌
I've never seen a man play a distorted guitar calmer than Rivers

I remember Billy from power rangers use to do that all the time and I used to LOVE IT
thks, i thought i was crazy hahaa
One of the first things i noticed too! 😬
It kinda reminds me a klingon
I actually think this is one of the best songs ever written. Even though every part is independently simple, as a whole it's a beautiful masterpiece.
Rivers is actually an amazing guitar player
Tommy Yanovich he's good for what the band needs and I think that's really all that matters. You just gotta serve the song

Hoshi Studios nah dude he's good. You should here him shred in the glam metal band he used to be apart of when he was a kid. It's called avant garde
I think hes extremely underrated
Here in 2020 and I don’t understand why Weezer is so underrated. My lord they’re so good!
God there it is again. That word used by casuals. Underrated. Stop it. You have to have lived under a rock musically not to rate Weezer.

No... e_e I can read the kanji but I don't get it.
the joke is tora-uma, in other word "trauma" :-)
there is a tiger sitting on a horse.
OH, wow, thank you for explaining that for me. Never woulda figured that out. ;P

The great thing about this performance is: effortlessly delivered, yet hits really hard.
As he begins to play the guitar a big grin came on my face.. This is music that will last for decades..
I love Weezer! They sound just as good, if not better live, as they do on vinyl/cd. Solid band!!!
Rivers with the cheeky intro. This band is so good.
