basically Rivers' aesthetic went from nerdy highschool kid to quirky college professor
Seem's he'd be reasonable to play against in a game of Monopoly, not hogging Park Place and all the Railroads.
Rivers went to my high school. EO Smith
yeah
Doesn’t he have a PHd in literature?
AleisterMeowley from Harvard no less.
My favorite part of Weezer is the fact that they all look like that uncle we have who is kind of lame but kicks ass at music and happens to be in Weezer.
Right on bro! Rock on!!
well fucking put bro lol
I have that same uncle but he's super lame and is OK at music and happens to be in a really shitty original music project that is going nowhere. OK wait, I'm actually talking about myself.
♫ Evolved Tracks ♫ - Listening Evolved my uncle looks like rivers and he plays
I've had exactly 0 uncles who fit that description.
SETLIST:
0:24 - Say It Ain't So
1:24 - Wrestle With Jimmy
1:27 - Say It Ain't So resumes
PLEASE
LMAO
Hahahaaa
Boo
Ooo. Mr. 3-seconds over here.
The shadow from Rivers' glasses looks like really angry eyebrows.
hahahahhaha i feel the same hahaha
I remember Billy from power rangers use to do that all the time and I used to LOVE IT
thks, i thought i was crazy hahaa
One of the first things i noticed too! 😬
It kinda reminds me a klingon
These camera angles are straight out of guitar hero 😂
OML
Same tech prod for both...
If you look at the sponsoring at the beginning it has Guitar Hero Live. This was probably filmed for it and they figured they should upload the actual live version of it to RUclips
oh shit i have to play that some day
can confirm they used this for guitar hero live
this is so fucking sick. just hearing that first riff, i felt what the audience was feeling.
EXACTLY
Gabby King wym by Sick???????? wtf is that
TheCompton1963 like really good ?? lol
Gabby King oh oh...this new talk is new to me...maybe im just old....34 :(
When i listen to the videoclip i just do it to listen to that final riff... this man, this band, this song... jesus... this concert also! 45 years of age and still rocking! :D
At least during the bridge he plays the guitar solo the same as on the record, sometimes improvising makes some people think it sounds better, but that lick is so legendary it should always be played the same.
Shane Vogel who John or Josh? John for the most part almost always played a different solo than what was on the record during live performances and most of them were great, Josh tries to also but always seems to just stick with studio versions.
John also did an improv in scar tissue live.
His opening to this song was crazy. People there probably have no idea how crazy technically he got. Anyways this was a great over all version. Feel like the crowd kinda sucked. Usually the crowd sings thr whole song with him
Dude I could not agree more. The bridge and solo are fucking phenomenally genius considering this song was written by four 22 year old star wars nerds. I've jammed out to the album so much I'd almost be disappointed if I didnt hear the sa.e thing love. Especially with that godlike tone he has for that solo in this video.
@@rhuttonaa247 the reaction from Scott at the opening is priceless
Quite possibly theeee COOLEST nerd to ever walk the Earth!
What about Mc Lovin and Michael Cera?
Jessica M Donald Glover is up there too!
nicely put
@@TheSlipke I heard my Michael Cera is a asshole on set but I dont know man.
*Nerds cmon :( what about Matt and Brian
for a 45 year old dude Rivers dont look a day older back in 1995. He still looks like the poster boy for the dorky 90's teen. Thats a compliment btw.
sadly. i think his aging is a little bit visible
I dunno dude, they ALL look very similar to the way they looked 20 years ago! Its pretty incredible. If I didn't know any better I would have a difficult time deciding if this performance was a year ago or 20...
of course it is, but he doesnt look ALMOST 50
sure he does...idve guessed late 40's...your concept of age is off mine used to be too
his guitar keeps him young that's why😌
The King of the Nerds! Rock on brother!
Yeah Monkeyboo, good taste in music
I see.
The offspring’s lead singer has a PhD in microbiology, so I would beg to differ.
@@brotatochip7001 virology
king of nerds would be Milo Aukerman, Descendents, molecular biologist
angry eye brow lighting
Benn Ibbetson I was hoping someone else would see it too 😂
+Steve Aguayo lol me too
I actually thought when I first saw that either he had drawn on eyebrows, or had some condition.
Or jack nicholson
Benn Ibbetson ikr 😂
Anyone who can play lead guitar and be the main singer at the same time deserves mad respect.
He’s not even playing the guitar while he’s singing tho lmao he just plays a few chords during the chorus
@@matthall7359 He does play the solo
@@MrChairReal That's just false
@@matthall7359bruh what? The dude is doing a ton.
I still think Atreyu’s drummer being able to do the clean vocals in every song is one of the most impressive things ever.
I just realised, rivers went from being one of the lamest 20 year olds to being one of the coolest 40 year olds and he didn't even change
SprinkleBomb Rivers was always cool dude
At no point was rivers ever lame. They've been"anti cool" when you stop worrying about who thinks your cool. You get to be yourself and free to chase your potential
Now 50
Rivers is actually an amazing guitar player
Tommy Yanovich he's good for what the band needs and I think that's really all that matters. You just gotta serve the song
Hoshi Studios no hes just that good
Mario Martines that's kinda what I said. He's good at doing what the band needs him to do, and maybe he's got some extra skill but I think for the most part he's you're average player and sometimes that's a good thing.
Hoshi Studios nah dude he's good. You should here him shred in the glam metal band he used to be apart of when he was a kid. It's called avant garde
I think hes extremely underrated
I've never seen a man play a distorted guitar calmer than Rivers
Noel Gallagher. He hardly moved, an inch
Rivers’ voice really hasn’t changed much since Blue Album, and if it has, it’s just been for the better. He is the most consistent rock singer with age I think I’ve ever seen.
@Novagats ever hear Ann Wilson sing in Heart?
@@mattlemmons6647 *Freddie Mercury and Weird Al have entered the chat.*
Compared to the album, he's pretty pitchy here. Still a decent performance though
In the same league as Robert Smith
Chino some how is holding up lol. Fuck knows how
That Intro was majestic
it sounds like their make belive track "Freak me out"
0:22 that smile from Scott (the bass guy)
you know it's going down
=w=
Johnny Knoxville is a good singer
Unknown Reject -- LOL oh shit I was just saying the singer looks like a cross between Johnny Knoxville and Stephen Colbert
Don't you mean Fred Armisen?
wanted write the same than i scrolled down !
Unknown Reject I thought that was Johnny Knoxville
I thought the same lol
The most covered song by high school garage bands in the early 2000's.
All The Small Things anyone?
As a bass player. A novice have this down in a day. Fun to play.
What's my age again?
Played dammit on live TV here in nz when I was in high school :)
dude im only half way through high school (im aussie so yr 7 to 12) and played this just the other day with a band. My ears are still rigning from the drummer, could barely hear when i tried for solo stuff but dude the feeling it gives u is insane. Yep. I said it. i said it is so
Weezer is literally the reason why I started a band
What's your band?
same!!!
Same
Me too
Same
Yesss, those three years of Japanese paid off, I can read the stickers on Rivers' guitar.
do you know the 虎馬 joke?
No... e_e I can read the kanji but I don't get it.
the joke is tora-uma, in other word "trauma" :-)
there is a tiger sitting on a horse.
OH, wow, thank you for explaining that for me. Never woulda figured that out. ;P
OtterTot what's it say
This song came out 24 years ago...
APodbayDoor how old does that make you feel?
And still kicks ass till this day, look at the crowd mixed with the young and the old
Great taste in music will always live within and will never be played out
I'm 12
I’m 11
Which is crazy because all us 1992 babies who were too young to know this song still scream it at the top of our lungs in the bar.... august 2019. Weezer is for all rhe generations. Its crazy.... they're never gone!
Here in 2020 and I don’t understand why Weezer is so underrated. My lord they’re so good!
God there it is again. That word used by casuals. Underrated. Stop it. You have to have lived under a rock musically not to rate Weezer.
@@Chris-wq3pe These newgens are ruining my OG collective :/
i just love playing this song on my guitar with my headphones on
me too
I like playing it on my bass guitar
And me in my drums
So... A new band?
Hey I'll play lead if you play rhythm haha
Fuck this was my first Weezer song. I'm gonna cry.
Catyclept same
The ENTIRE Blue album was epic from start to finish.
Catyclept same
I legit cried, and I'm not even ashamed about it.
I cried thru the whole performance unlocked memories and life. I hope you were able to release those tears on positive vibe
0:10 when I discovered guitar for the first time
nothing makes me happier than hearing an awesome crowd. brings happy tears to my eyes. this is why music brings us all together. also my bandmate has that guitar strap with the lightning bolt.
Rivers with the cheeky intro. This band is so good.
The great thing about this performance is: effortlessly delivered, yet hits really hard.
I love Weezer! They sound just as good, if not better live, as they do on vinyl/cd. Solid band!!!
That last "say it ain't so" falsetto is legendary.
"Goodnight humans"
@@oneimage84 That wasn't an insult.
That was the cherry on top for me. What a great exit!
I thought he said cubans XDDD
For a bunch of 50 year old men, their looking rather good for their age. (My dad is 51 and he looks about 60)
Scott is the only one that is over 47.
Ben Kalik
Pat is only 47. Look it up.
No alcohol, no drugs that's the reason
Your dad says thanks.....🤪🤓😎
*Men in their mid 40's. None of them are quite fifty yet.
I must admit: the sound and vocals are so clear. Congratulations quite an amazing live performance.
Thank you to the engineers 😊
playing this song for 25 years really has Rivers SHREDDING his guitar parts
Man, brings me back. The 90's had the best music in my opinion. Love this tune.😎😎😎
One of the greatest live bands to ever play a crowd. If you haven’t seen them live and you’re a fan, PLEASE do. It’s a treat beyond words. An experience you’ll never forget.
Dude! Saw them in aus last weekend, incredible.
The perfect song doesn't exi--
say it ain'tso, it does exist!
I actually think this is one of the best songs ever written. Even though every part is independently simple, as a whole it's a beautiful masterpiece.
1:03 why is Rivers so mad!?
My favorite comment!
Someone’s cold one was giving him chills!!
Lmao
The bass was seriously louder than brian's guitar
TheJunior3600 It doesn't sit on top of it though, and that's kinda the point. Bass is always supposed to be louder and higher pitches nestle themselves inside of the volume so it makes them sound full. Source: a decade of concert and marching band experience as well as performing as a bass player.
It's the way it's spost to be over the top as a musician I know this
Nah I agree, I play professionally and have done a lot of sound mixing and I thought the mix was subpar. Obviously a video mix separate from the house. The lead vocals were too hot, the bass EQ was weird, making it not sit in the mix. There were sections where the second guitar should have been hotter and wasn't. It wasn't Weezer's people doing the mix and it shows. I might have been okay with that if I was playing a club and they provided sound but for a professional video it didn't do them any favors.
Mark Barbuto no. The bass wasn’t EQ’d properly to sit in the mix and there was absolutely no volume from Brian’s guitar feed.
@@usaflagraybans noticed in the solo, couldn't hear him at all.
Scott's smile on 0:23 is everything
As he begins to play the guitar a big grin came on my face.. This is music that will last for decades..
I saw them in concert 10 years ago. I remember being more excited for Fall Out Boy but Weezer was waaaay better live
I can't get over how chill they look while sounding this badass.
i was today years old when i found out the lead singer of weezer is stephen colbert
Not even close, bruh.
???
Hahahahaha
True tho
Melissa Ferrell it’s a joke Karen
2:04 They changed the letter D to the letter W on the Diezel Amp, so now they‘re using a „Wiezel“ Amp, lol
lmao just noticed it, nice
This brings me back. I cried for some reason after he said "goodnight humans." It was so cute. ♥
Im playing this with my middle school band and I’m silently singing the harmonies 😂
This is such a bop ♥️
THANK GOD FOR THE launch of Guitar Hero Live and the all-new 2016 Honda Civic Sedan.
The bassist enjoyment smile after the first River's riff made my day :D
love a crowd with no cellphones even tho it was mandatory not to have phones out. They still got the full effect of the song with no distractions
OMG...WEEZER rules! My Trader Joe's was playing their Buddy Holly a few months ago...a few of us customers were almost dancing in the aisles!
Still my favorite Weezer song by far and the song that made me fall in love with them.
One of the best riffs of all time
Why am I seeing this video almost five time a day?
Because it's awesome, say it ain't so.
I'm a firm believer in playing the song the way it was recorded with very little deviation, and also playing it and presenting yourself as if no one has ever seen you or the song before. This seems to have done that. Awesome.
Oh my gosh..I swear these guys do not get enough credit for how good they are and the fact that they sound better live then on the cd which takes raw talent. These older bands didn't have help making them sound good like these newbies do.
thank god no phones for this concert love how weezer feels about it
This was one of the last songs they played when I saw them live. I love them so much. And I feel special being one of the only kids in my town who listens to them. They are amazing!
That backdrop looks more like Wonderwoman than Weezer
Anirudh Anand that’s the joke
@@aprokhozhy No its not lmao? Its their logo
@@Iemonzinger maybe their logo was based in Wonderwoman?
It's based off of Van Galen's, if I remember right.
humblecolumbus Van Galen
I love the background guitar sound during the verses so much in this version
weezer is one of the most band of all time
i really want them to play some pinkerton songs live
eggsBenedict We all do
eggsBenedict but sadly, they never will bc rivers hates the album
They played El Scorcho live, and The Good Life
They played the entire album live a few years back.
I read an old interview with rivers. He said after their blue album became well received, critics said bring more of the raw honesty so Pinkerton was the result. Critics were dissatisfied with that album, so rivers said fuck 'em, pop music only from here on.
Weezer is so incredible live 💛
One of the best bands of all time. This song is genius and full of pure raw emotion.
I saw weezer in 2001 ,they brought down the house ,the entire arena was rocking out.love you guys.🎸🎸🎸
4:17 still the same
Tom I'm ded halp
good night humans!
I love the way he starts off with the slide
Perfect! Most underrated songwriter of his generation, greatest song!
They sound almost like the studio recording even after 21 years!
I like this version more than the studio version but the studio is 100/100, this one is 101/10
Also,
"Goodnight Humans!"
- Rivers Cuomo
I need to see them live!!! I would probably start crying with this song. 90s classic
Finally a crowd that enjoys the moment instead of filming every second of it with a phone
They sound amazing live
=w= weezer forever
ruven samaraweera it looks like Waylon Jennings mixed with Van Halen
i’d be screaming while they’re just chilling.
say it aINT SOOOOOOOOWWWOOOOOOOWOWOOO
Such a great band. They can do anything... and do it very well.
Absolutely amazing live version
Not a single cell phone In that crowd......
Wow! I'm impressed.
+yellowrocker34 I know right? I think it's somehow staged..
It was an iHeart Radio concert, a Weezer one at that. They probably had to sign forms, and also security cracks down on recording at Weezer concerts. A woman told me to turn mine off once and I wasn't even in GA.
+seven80seven so absolutely no recording at weezer concerts?! That sucks I'm seeing Weezer and P! This summer and I always take pictures at concerts
+TeamSuperD Have fun. I'm just pissed that they're not coming to MN. And who knows, that might have just been MY experience.
band of geeks.awesome!
Those riffs just gave me some of the best goosebumps ever
Love this track. Friggin awesome vocals way to give 1 heck of a performance.
These guys defined my high school years.I will always love “Weezer”.🤘
the intro is so nice!!! Rivers rock!!
Such an amazing band. Unreal talent even to this day
might be one of the best Weezer solos ever
I love this song. It’s such a pleasure to play it on the guitar.
God these guys are such pros! One of the best sounding live bands I've ever seen! Every performance sounds just like their recordings!
Perfect performance
kid : my dad is such a nerd
friend : hahaha
kid : he's in band called weezer
friend : fall down and collapse
0:23 Scott's smile is priceless
yeah
Alright
Somebody's Heine'
Is crowdin' my icebox
Somebody's cold one
Is givin' me chills
Guess I'll just close my eyes
Oh yeah
Alright
Feels good
Inside
Flip on the telly
Wrestle with Jimmy
Something is bubbling
Behind my back
The bottle is ready to blow
Say it ain't so
Your drug is a heart breaker
Say it ain't so
My love is a life taker
I can't confront you
I never could do
That which might hurt you
So try and be cool
When I say
This way is a water slide away from me
That takes you further every day
So be cool
Say it ain't so
Your drug is a heart breaker
Say it ain't so
My love is a life taker
Dear daddy
I write you in spite of years of silence
You've cleaned up, found Jesus, things are good or so I hear
This bottle of Steven's awakens ancient feelings
Like father, stepfather, the son is drowning in the flood
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Say it ain't so
Your drug is a heart breaker
Say it ain't so
My love is a life taker
I'm old enough to remember the first time this song came on the radio. Never gets old.
Best summer songs in one's lifetime
I love you guys!! I grew up listening to all your music!! Thanks very much . say it aint so is my favorite song in my life. 10th album is the best present for me and your all fan in the world.
Does anyone else notice the bass guitarist face go wtf and smile when Rivers does the guitar riff
Takes me back. love it
this song is so awesome. I love it.
