    Buy a container of "Water wetter", add it to the radiator. That stuff does lower coolant temp. It can't hurt...

    I lived in Little Havana for 5 months. Got hooked on the coffee. Good work diagnosing. Blessings from Alaska. Only 58 F here. I like a/c in my truck though. I bought an amazon recharge for like 22 bucks. It also treats the O rings. So far so good.

    I learned the hard way during HRPT 2022 that the circuit breaker is not a good idea for electric fans. They are thermally operated and when you run them at high current (electric fans) for a long time, they get hot and open. I talked to Painless about what was happening and they told me they did the same thing. I am now using the MSD 2 channel 40 amp relay board and had no problems on HRPT 2023.

      Interesting. I have this setup on my blazer and haven’t had any issues with that one but I can see where this would be an issue. I’ll do some more research into this when I get back from SETN.

    Keep an eye on those radiator fan zip ties! I’ve seen them rub through and cause leaks💦

      Thanks for the heads up! I was bummed when the fan shroud didn’t fit like I thought it would. Fingers crossed it doesn’t cause any issues.

    Hey buddy you need to box or insulate those breakers so that accidental shorts don't happen. A dropped wrench can cause quite a shower of sparks and could start a fire . Luck to you I sure do enjoy your videos.

      Yes sir! I didn't show it but I ended up wrapping the studs in heat shrink. Now I only get the circuit breakers that have covers. Thanks for the heads up!

    I did the same thing with my truck. Including blow out the AC compressor. Live and learn sometime.

  • @Moore257

    Make sure to put a trinary switch to control at least one fan to come on when the pressure from the AC builds up.

    • @yeahbuddygarage
      @yeahbuddygarage  Год назад +1

      I ended up wiring one fan to kick on when the AC compressor is on and it works great! A trinary switch would be a bette option since it works off pressure rather than only the compressor being on or off.

    Hey buddy. Glad to see you at SETN, the Dooley looks awesome. Love this video. I just installed AC on my Heavy Heifer and didn’t have the fan wired to it yet. Heard an awful noise under the hood while it was running at the gas pump. Guess I know what it was now. 😂 I had a similar issue with my fan draw when coming home from C10’s in the City. I had so much amp draw from the fan that I melted my relay. Best advice I can give is to alway mount the relay as close to the battery as possible so your main power line from bat-relay-fan is as short as possible.

      That's some sound advice! I'm going to need to rethink this wiring. I'll be adding the Air Lift Company's helper bag kit with onboard compressor so that's another system that will require power. I think I'm going to have to do a deeper dive on the electrical system of the truck before I fry something. 🤣

    Any time I introduce a significant new electrical load (like two 30A cooling fans), I go around and check voltage drop across basically everything potentially affected. That includes across the charging wire from the alternator to the batt (or to the starter lug or power junction box or wherever your vehicle's charging wire attaches). The factory usually made them just about adequate for stock electrical loads, but with little "headroom" for high draw add-ons. Also, high amp alternators need a bigger wire to get those added amps TO the battery (many come with recommended charging wire sizes right in the box- and those recommendations are almost always bigger than stock). It's a constant game of looking for the "weak link" and the higher you get up the ladder (closer to the alternator) the more systems it can negatively affect downstream. Measuring voltage drop across any run of wire is dirt simple and only requires a voltage gauge. Here's a very basic how-to vid: ruclips.net/video/9Arke3-J2nQ/видео.html

    When the ac is on the fans need to be also. Could have been lack of air across the condenser making it get spicy.

      Yes it definitely gets spicy. 😂😂 I will wire the fans to the AC switch. Had another pressure release today.

    What size is you’re steering wheel did you got it on 14”?

    • @yeahbuddygarage
      @yeahbuddygarage  Год назад +1

      I"m not sure what the measurement is but this steering wheel is built off of a factory steering wheel so it should be close to the same.
