I fully agree. Tried PoE 1 several times but it just felt clunky and outdated and too complex at the beginning. Yet i still do a story play through right now, to prepare for the PoE 2 release.
@@R4ZORLIGHT as someone who really loves to glaze poe, I definitely agree with you, idk why its so hard for some people to admit that PoE1 is outdated it some aspects lol. Definitely a massive and completely valid reason to not want to get into PoE1
My favorite thing in PoE 2 is the combat feeling being slower and more tactical, I saw people playing PoE1 with fuck ton of spells on the screen, zapping around the map at the speed of light while an army of enemies followed them also really fast, I just couldn't keep up with it, lol. I know, that from some clips the combat CAN be faster, but not to the level that was PoE1.
I am glad that you are gonna be playing POE 2 as your channel is mostly about your unique ideas and insight not just repeating other content creators. And always short enogh to leave us hungry for more.
Came to comment this. The moment I encountered your rogue videos back then, I was like "can't wait till this guy hops on PoE". At last the day is come.
Welcome in, Exile. Mind you, you don't choose this game, the game captures you and exiles your will to play other games, hence the name, nothing to do with the lore whatsoever.
I felt very similarly about PoE1 until I went ahead and bought a supporter pack for PoE2... been playing 1 in the meantime and actually enjoying it a lot. I think I kind of "get it" now.
While i think all the points very fair, i would caution that POE2 is still gonna be POE. Most of the roughest edges have been filed, but its still gonna take tons of knowledge to make build which can clear whole game. Game looks even harder, but most of us vets have our own goals with the game, not necessarily kill hardest boss. Some like blasting (clearing maps really fast), some like get rich by trading/league content, some like bossing etc. When you do stuff you like, you don't really feel overwhelmed and even vets with thousands of hours of game time learn constantly about things they're not interacting much.
@Separiiii Love this. Makes sense! I think the main point is that the *perception* of PoE 1 turned me off, whereas I probably would've loved it if I gave it a shot, which PoE 2 now is providing 🙌
@@MattiasTheGamertotally agree with you and I’m glad your going to be playing the game, I also appreciate your point of view on this you have gained a subscriber sir
When I saw the POE passive tree I was very excited because FFX is my favorite game of all time, and the Sphere Grid is there. I love super complex progression! What really killed POE1 for me was the combat. I don't know how to explain, but it feels weirdly clunky for me. I also hate the "skill into equipment" system. POE2 changed those things, and that's why I'm hyped for it.
It's funny how different people are. In high school, I saw the PoE skill tree and I was so excited that I saved up money to buy a new PC to play it. It was the first time that I felt like I could play an rpg that didn't have a rigid generic class and skill tree structure.
That means they've succeeded in appealing to their aimed demographic. Poe1 def wasn't for everyone esp those easily intimidated by complexity but people like you who gets excited by depth early on inspires them to keep going until the appeal catches up to others later on. Exactly what we're witnessing now.
I can understand jumping into PoE now would make you feel like that. Even for me with thousands of hours in PoE between 2012-2016 I'm a bit lost with all the new mechanics since I haven't been playing that often anymore. PoE 2 seems to be an excellent chance to start fresh and with lesser number of systems and old league mechanics baked into the game. I'm very excited about the slower pace of gameplay. I just hope it won't go back to very fast full screen clearing in the end game.
I never tried PoE for much of the same reasons, but I always felt a bit bad about it because I'm a Kiwi too and there are very few proper game studios here (only two I can think of: GGG and RocketWerkz).

They are getting mechanics from poe1 to poe2, and most of the passive nodes so far are stuff that already exists in poe1 and if they dont show up as items then they show up as nodes. Being a Veteran and 1 still applies to 2 and I dont see any valid reason to believe this is remotely an even field. People say about "following a guide" cause most people have the MMORPG mentality of letting your stats play the game and not you, so even if the GAME lets you improvise and gives you tools to dodge boss attacks and stuff....it wont matter for people who are used to play with big numbers and never adapting. And at the same time, poe players cant let new players go and play crappier games or other arpgs when the best one in their minds already exists, so they accept the fact most people cannot be trusted to make their own mind and would rather give you the answers in a build guide and be done with it.
