catchpole didn't talk about the ultra long gear ratios = 140 km/h in second, 190 km/h in third gear. You can't use the gear lever properly. You are forced to short shift to not break the law, lose your driving license and go to jail with this shit engineering made by porsche. The purpose of a manual gear box is to use it a lot. With this car you drive in second gear all the time. You bunch of novices, blind fanboys without knowledge.

Looking forward to seeing Henry driving the new Spyder or this GTS in his series “driving the best roads in the world.” Like he did in the last 981 Spyder and Boxster. Henry Catchpole Anyone who can invoke the Dance of Death, the National Theatre and both Sir Laurence Olivier and Sir Anthony Hopkins to answer “the question” in a car review video and has us thoroughly engaged throughout, deserves our praise . I have owned many great sports car but the Gt4 Spyder, er, 718 will be my last. I have asked this question on other forums and yet to hear a reply so will ask it again. Can you name a car company other than Porsche who is currently producing a mid engine, NASP, manual, convertible - Ferrari,Lamborghini,, Aston Martin Alfa, Maserati, Audi, Lotus, Alpine , Ford , Chevy ., Acura or any other Japanese manufacturer - short answer is no. Seriously I am interested to know if there is a manufacturer checking these boxes or if the Porsche is a unicorn. So I’m delighted to be getting the new Spyder and being my last ICE sports car will drive into the sunset, top down, and of course rowing my own gears. Happy motoring 😀👍

@n s 0-60 time is somewhat irrelevant for the GT4. The 718 Cayman S 4 cylinder would absolutely murder a 981 GT4 in a straight line. But so what. A GTS 4.0 wouldn't see which way a GT4 went on a track. And that's what a GT4 is about. You get GT3 suspension, tyres, brakes etc on the GT4 and Spyder. I do agree though, that these cars are very close to the GT4 and Spyder. People say, why buy a GT4 when there is a Spyder version. But then why buy the Spyder when this Boxster GTS 4.0 is so good, has a more useable roof, and is cheaper.

There are comedians including Porsche centres trying to ask overs with a price of £105,000 for a flipped Spyder. You would have a serious bolt loose to pay any overs on GT4 or Spyder with these GTS offers.

Genuinely, I could spend hours listening to Henry Catchpole, even if he was just reading out entries from the 'high-weight paper and card' section of the Viking stationery catalogue.

Another Stella video guys, just on another level! So glad Porsche have listened to their customers (and lack of Boxster/Cayman sales) Sounds like the perfect mix of Boxster, throw some PS4S's on it and away you go 👌

Far more desirable that the dubious-looking Spyder with its horrendous roof mechanism. Not sure about the difference in the investment potential though.

Appreciate the review. Though a more apt title might be "How the GTS 4.0 stacks up against the Spyder." So many references to the Spyder here. Kinda would like more focus on the car at hand here...

As ever, great stuff. Compared to the 981 GTS you drove on Mallorca, Henry, the exhaust on the 718 GTS seems very muted indeed. WLTC / Euro 6 woes to blame, do you reckon? Otherwise, it seems like a great car.
Artistically, were you going for an old school Fifth Gear / Top Gear vibe with the slo-mo 80's video wipe section between 2:36 and 2:41? If so, mission accomplished.

The GTS will be more playful than the Spyder just off the smaller wheel and tire package. On the street, less grip is more fun. The ability to enjoy most of the car more of the time is a big advantage for a street car where these cars will spend the vast majority of their life. This new 4.0l GTS is awesome and a car I’d love to own in its hardtop version. Slick top, manual gearbox and the carbon bucket seats would be my spec in any color besides white.

I love these but. I Own a 718 4s & wouldn’t be upgrading to this anytime soon. My story is l always wanted a 981 gts but as much as l loved its note it just didn’t have the performance to match the package for me. I ended buying a 2nd 718s, tuned and piped it to a 450hp beast. With the soundtrack from improved air intake & exhaust the note is insane. 7500 revs and it now sounds epic all the way through its range. 0-60 in 3.6secs it’s fun, fast and puts a smile on my dial every time lm in it. I also upgraded the wheels & tyres to gt3 cup 295s. It’s stance from the rear and on track keeps it punching well above its weight. It’s also 25kg lighter due to dumping that crap exhaust that Porsche fitted to it. They should come and see what a 718 4 can be. All in at 110k Aus is half the price of this and from what l can see and hear, no gain and also gets a performance loss. The 718 model is due for a significant facelift and console upgrade in 21, will be interesting to see with what this amazing car manufacturer comes up with next!!! The 718 is a tuners delight, APR releasing a stage 3 500hp for it soon, u bet lm there 👊

@@ardijanuar2036 for one, GT3 Touring commands a huge amount of money. Then there's the question of who can get one, as most of them were bought either by speculators who inflated the price massively or collectors who hide them away (there are GT3 Tourings in Indonesia. None were driven).

It may be pointless watching all the expensive car reviews cause I'm not able to buy a Porsche, but listening to a man really enjoying a car and driving with it is great. It's an excellent review once again. What I am missing on a lot of other review channels is the passion, they just talk about numbers and new unnecessary features you get nowadays. For me, driving is all about emotions, that's why I'm happy with my 200hp Gt86. It's sad most people don't get this.
