Daniel Fisher, Sweetwater's module master, demonstrates the Dreadbox Erebus v3 Duophonic Synthesizer with a huge analog tone that is sure to sit confidently in your mix. Featuring three vibrant oscillators (with auto-tuning to prevent drift), you’ve got a lot of sound-shaping potential between its 12dB resonant multimode filter, triple ring modulator, and lo-fi echo. An LFO plus an assignable ADSR envelope with looping capability offers creative modulation potential. Complete with an analog clock generator, MIDI to CV conversion, and a 35-point patchbay for integrating with your modular rig, the Dreadbox Erebus v3 is a formidable synth module that’s ready to integrate with practically any setup.

I love your synth demos Daniel. You talk about sound synthesis like no one else. It would be a dream to get some kind of masterclass from you.

I have the synth (standard green version which also looks nice), it's great, bear in mind it can't really track pitch over CV so you have to use it as a MIDI instrument (incase you were thinking of sequencing it with eurorack over CV for instance). Another small gripe is that when osc one is in pulse mode the mix pot will always let osc 2 through slightly even with the mix all the way left (unless you turn off osc 2). Also the decal around the cutoff knob has rubbed off, most likely from too much animated wiggling (so great to wiggle that knob). It sounds really good though, triple ring section is fantastic as well as the sound of the oscillators and filter on their own. The delay is killer too. Great to have some patching options for it, would have liked to see inputs for FM amount and triple ring amounts rather than CV for oscillators 1 and 2 (since they can't track accurately anyway). Can't have it all though, I think that's getting into realms better covered by other synths. Envelope isn't insanely snappy, for instance won't go into or near to audio rates when looped - still works well for pretty much every sound I've tried to dial in though. Having CV control for Osc 3 pitch as well as an output is great and has been a massive source of fun for me. Really enjoy using osc 3 to modulate cutoff whilst having a sample + hold triggered by the gate modulating the pitch. Starts to sound ridiculous with FM and triple ring. Really great that it's possible to have only the triple ring circuits coming through the amp. No idea what I'm going to use the switcher circuit for but I'm sure it can shine when paired with more eurorack stuff. It sounds super cool and great. You can get a good variety of interesting sounds but they all have a distinctive lovely erebus character and colour. Good stuff.

Thank you SW/AV Folks/DF! My question to my SW SE will be, "Does it come with Mr. Fisher?" Just a dumb ole guitar player here that finds Daniel's videos fascinating. I have yet to MIDI anything nor know what LFO is yet (I do know what ELF is, but I digress). I hope I will one day find my way to Fort Wayne and stalk DF (in an HR-appropriate way) for a 101 class. I'll buy the celebratory drinks afterwards - cheers!

LFO is a low frequency oscillator. It oscillates at a frequency below audible levels. It can then be patched into different parts of the synthesizer in order to create a vibrato effect or wah type effect, it can even be used to change the speed of a sequence at the rate and shape of the chosen LFO wave form. Essentially it is a modulation source. Good LFO’s will reach into audible levels as well. So then they can be used as a lower register oscillator. Or they can be synced with another oscillator in order to create interesting harmonics and overtones. Usually LFO’s get out of tune within 1 and 1/2 octaves when being used as a bass register oscillator but since this has an auto tune feature I would imagine it would sync the pitch for you. Which is a really neat feature. This is a pretty cool synth with some interesting gems interwoven throughout it. It’s cheap as hell too. If your looking to get into synthing this would be a good one along with an Arturia keystep.

god damn I wish this special edition wasnt exclusive to Sweetwater. I live in the UK so I would need to pay import, whereas with the standard I can go through UK distributors.

I am having issues being able to control the VCA externally. Attempting to trigger the Erebus with a Lyricon, sending wind pressure to VCA and pitch to VCO (which works great on other synths). Any suggestions? Thanks.

Sound is incredible as I've heard in other videos as well as this one, however, not too keen on that Pepto-Bismal Pink they've suddenly decided to use as a second colour on their Semi-Modular Synthesizers. First the "Hypnosis" now this on the beautiful Erebus V3 . It's only available with the Pepto-Pink at Sweetwater stores yes ? Everywhere else I've seen
it that same Green and Dark Grey almost Black Colour Combo . I'm sure many people like this colour addition. Unfortunately, when I see that certain shade of Pink. . .I Taste the
Bright Pink awful medicine I used to have to take when I was ill - blaah... Otherwise Dreadbox create some of THE most interesting & wonderful sounding Electronic Music/Sound Machines on this planet. Quite unique. Made in Greece, which has a gigantic Dance Party culture specifically on the Island of Mykonos ! I would love to know where Yannis has his
Shop . Would enjoy going back to Greece, my Homeland. I 'd probably stay this time, know the language pretty well . Could work for Dreadbox -now that would be a dream ~

Don't know why the hell anyone would want this, except for acting like a kid and wanting to make old 50's and 60's scifi sounds, but I want one.... Lol. Even the idea of plugging in wires from one jack to another reminds me of old switchboard operators from the very early days of telephones.

Why is this unit for US Version painted in ugly Pink? I know, you people like fancy colours - but this colour combination hurtz.
    Greets from Austria!
(This is the small country in Europe, where Mozart was born and make some good vibrations. And where the ugly sweet juice RedBull is from. And Schwarzenegger. And Schubert. And Liszt.)
