The most difficult battle in Total War history?

- An insane battle, the result of equally ludicrous circumstances. Possibly the hardest ever encountered in the history of Total War.

I don't care what the game says; that's a true Heroic Victory
I hate when tw games do that. Give me that voice-cracked Roman announcer hyping you up after a winning a Heroic Victory.
in shogun 2 theres not heroic victories i reckon, correct me if im wrong but ive never saw a heroic victory, even if ive won lost battles
@@malgdrummerthere is but The way theyre triggered is really weird. I got some heróic victories in battles that i was barely outnumbered by 200 Men or só but Then battles where i win outnumbered 1:4 ID Just get close victory
@@kev117_ that's weird
I know this is overused, but this is CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED. I'd rather watch this than 99% of TW youtubers.
Even legend???
Probaly because of the mechanics of the game not going well with the mostly let's play society of TW youtubers
Yea its moatly battles that are worth watching @@kingpoxy2289
this could have become the japanese version of teutoburg forest massacre
Holy shit, this was an very well made video, with subtitles, plan of action, little Paint stuff for the map
If one can beat ten, so too can one thousand defeat ten thousand
-Miyamoto Musashi
Well done
Lovely citation sir !
Rally could have been used some to help with moral and a few troops who were broken... but damn that was cool to watch and I didn't know about the shift tab pause button on legendary... nice.
Oh neverminded I see you used rally at 20:28 I think.
lmao it's teutonburg forest all over again
It’s what Varus could only hope Teutonberg was.
Man It's hell of a educational video for new and middle level players, you done an amazing job with that explanations and planning 🤜🤛
The Loquendo voices and editing gives me nostalgia, keep up the work man, this is pure gold.
Holyshit that was satisfying to watch, you earned a sub, my man
you should send this to volound. I would love to see his take on this battle. Other wise that was great and very entertaining to watch.
If you can do a 41 unit campaign, there's a mod in the steam workshop for the ui to be adjusted somewhat to 41. Then you can change the save files using either editsf or save parser to change the game to what you want. I recommend editsf and looking up tutorials to get ya started. Love the video man. It'd be great to see you manage a large army.
this is one of the best tw videos ever made. more editing than legend has done in his entire career in one video.
he would win with less casualties and not even pause the battle
While I do agree on the Editing side (He could do some extra editing work for HIS OWN campaign or quick battle Let's Plays, such as putting a simple cinematic intro for example).
You also need to consider that MOST of his videos are community/user-submitted ones. Most players submit their campaigns/battles requests to him in either the AUTOSAVE or HARD SAVE format where the events are either JUST ABOUT TO HAPPEN or HAS HAPPENED (but recovered by reverting to the old save JUST BEFORE the event).
Editing HIS OWN campaign/battle videos is one thing, but editing a user-submitted campaigns/battles is another.
First of all, the victory was very impressive, I learned a lot!
Second, this could have been easily avoided.
only 4 minutes into the video and im blown away by the content. subscribed and i hope there is alot more like this! Great!
I feel like these types of videos should be more popular/encouraged more in the TW community. I love full campaign playthrus but there is something visceral about a debrief like this!
Absolutely nuts... greatest battle i've seen on RUclips. wow
It may be extremely difficult but I think this is possible without the pause exploit. Utilizing unit grouping might help overcome some of the more tedious micro during the initial ambush. Once the generals are killed and units start breaking, as long as you've preserved most of your unit strength, it's pretty much a cakewalk as even the enemy samurai will break without much fight.
cake walk is a bit of an exaggeration but OK
I usually don't even win the first battle in legendary mode. Good luck
@@morganmorra1547 How?
@@morganmorra1547 this not too hard if you know how ai does works in shogun
@@hellinoob8734 I usually have some issues to use large armies and don't understand much of this ai right now. In naval battles it's relatively easy and when I'm in siege too, but I don't understand what they do in open field. There it seems like they just go forward to me.
nice micro! enjoyable video
Thank you!
The humor in this video is top level! :D
First time in life saw AI army with cannon, even not 1 cannon, with 2 cannons
to be honest, probably the most difficult battle was the first and only spear unit vs those almost 6 thousands
This was an amazing battle. Makes me wanna fire up a Hattori campaign.
Where have I been after all these 2 years. Your video is amazing.
I feel like the more difficult battle would be those three armies ambushing the single ashigaru but go off, I guess.
What a great video. Love the ammouny of work you put into this
This was a very enjoyable video.
Well done! This makes me wanna play Shogun 2 again.
You earned a sub for this great video
Rewlly good use of your Calvary so many people waste thier cavs on wasted opportunities you used every unit with precision including your cav good hammer and anvil constantly pulling out troops to get better angles quite enjoyed this video though 2 years old definitely not outdated even current pros could learn a thing or two from you
Damn this was a sick battle, I would have gone for running the clock out by leading them in circles after taking out one side and retreating units. Not sure if that works in legendary too tho
Man... that's something...
You deserve better mate!! Much for view!
Volound needs to see this (2)
its not on his level though, he is only outnumbered 1 to 2
@@maxmustermann-zx9yq But this isn't a siege defense that gives massive advantages to the defender

Legend has it, he ruled Japan for 100 years.
I have fought many battles like this in my weirdly Long for my age Total war career and I have to say I have never managed such a Heroic victory without at least 1 re load of the battle
I like that 300 reference lol 😂 earned a sub from me
Hey when the game cheeses you, you cheese it right back.
This was amazing
you shouldnt attack that bunch armies at first place, instead move your army little bit closer, close enough to make them attack you and avoid that bloody ambush, and then move your second army on that city away, lost a city is always better than lost Daimyo and his heir
Thing is, even with ambush, it would be a defensive battle due to balance of power. And turtling up against 6.000 soldier army with 20+ missile units wouldn't work anyway. If his thinking worked (no ambush), he would effectively buy himself a turn this way and not lose anything, even if he lost, which he didnt so it works out to be about the same.
HONOR
wow, i am amazed, good job!
Really impressive battle. I remember an "epic" battle in my own Ottoman campaign in ETW, but that was in the easiest difficult XD.
Very impressive defensive work against a larger force, but the victory still gets a bit tainted by the fact you paused the game in legendary
Holy fucking shit this might just be the best tw video i have ever seen.
Yeah, STW2 logic - Pyrrhic victory my ass! Shamefur dispray!
THAT'S A GLORIOUS HEROIC VICTORY!!!
Congrants on everything bro the battle and the video kkk
1:56 matchlock ashigaru are terrible unit?
Oh, it's Ikko Ikki matchlock ashigaru... Yeah, fair point
lesser range, awful reload rate and accuracy to compare with any missile units except ikko's variation, isn't it bad enough? I just can't get it why CA didn't make it 200 range? I have played modded campaign for 1.3k hrs and 200 is definitely fair and fun for matchlock units with player or AI
@@liaogregor4047you shouldn't use matchlocks to shoot at enemy archers - archers will shred them. Matchlocks are support unit - they ignore armor and demoralize. Gun units are difficult to use yes, but if used correctly - they dominate, Dishonorable Daimyo and Volund have many videos that prove that
@Stas sats I have saw those videos before, the mindset is more for pvp, and the design is fair for pvp, but no way in the campaign. Tell me, how are you gonna win AI's spamming bow samurais with buff that gives them accuracy and reload rate hiding behind the data? The thing I want to say is that they could simply just add another projectile data for campaign's unit, and it's so easy that I can make it myself in 3 mins. But treating campaign like pvp isn't really sound fun, nor does it look. They basically didn't separate Campaign and MP too much, which is why I can't really accept that pathetic 100 range for a matchlock, if matchlock can't win the bow or at least comparable with the bow, why even Japanese at that time adopt them? Either in game design or historical reference, it's unacceptable for me
@Stas sats but still, it's only my personal opinion.
@@liaogregor4047 Dude, 16th century was time of pike&shot, not line infantry. You wanna skirmish with archers? Use your own archers in loose formation preferably with forest cover, and\or ram enemy archers with cav. Matchlocks should stand behind your melee infantry(preferably on the hill) and shoot through gaps in the line or over your troops(matchlocks can shoot enemy cav over your troops even on flat ground).
Takeda katana cav will lose 1v1 against yari ashigaru without even yari wall - this doesn't mean cav is useless or bad.
There are a lot of hard battles in Attila too. Anyways, video was great
I WANT TO BE YOUR DECIPLE , NOW!! 🙇♂🙇♂
I wonder if Nobunaga also paused his gameplay mid fight to give orders
Based tactician uses exploit like sigma
Really fun video idea. Could you share the map you used to show the armies moving? Makes me want to use it for my campaigns.
You can also press P for pause
beyond impressive
beating them off is crazy work
Nice!
Subbed
Disasters like this early on the campaign make or break It. Shit like this has made me drop a campaign for months before trying It again, after losing a campaign Three times due to impossible battles like this
Pyrrhic Victory.....lol classic Shogun 2 thinking having great loss after defeating vastly superior enemies is wrong,i get this couple of times
This isn’t only shogun 2 as well. In Warhammer III when you play as vampires and have lots of zombie fodders you will usually get other UC victories a lot due to the sheer numbers of zombies that dies.
The fact that you can see what units are ambushing you and think about your strategy before the ambush actually starts is cheating, as well as the Shift-Tab exploit. I wonder if the entire plan was conceived on the fly without actually sitting there staring at all the intel for an hour. Also I think that in real life this ambush would 100% end with total annihilation of the defending force, unless of course the attackers were dogshit at their job and got wrecked with rudimentary tactics employed by the opposing side (in real life complex maneuvering like in Total War is virtually impossible even with contemporary technology; any and every tactical move more complex than ‘cavalry go right flank’ or ‘archers retreat’ would be rehearsed a million times beforehand and executed independently by the units themselves rather than transferred to the units mid-battle).
its a video game bro

Not remotelly close to the most difficult
stolen video, this was from a youtuber playing on legendary.
easy
I just did this battle without pause and intensive micro, u just gotta stay in a big blob, treating every unit as mele unit and break them 1 by 1 ez. Also didnt lose a single unit
You, on the other hand, split your army midway, which makes it unnecessary difficult. Read your Sun Tzu kids
u got a lot to learn Kid :D
Yeah. And 25 ranged infantry threw you roses right?
Talk about poor English "more properly" ...
