Ive been detailing cars for a long while now and a rule of thumb is make sure whatever your painting is extremely clean or else it will come off.For example on cloth seats they need to be rid of all body soil and other stuff, your clothes will pick it up the paint if it didn't adhered right
Lol thought I was the only one. Was thinking about picking another up but they are getting expensive compared to when I bought mine. I picked mine up for $1000 clean 13 years ago.
Thanks this helped out a lot, I have previous owner burn marks and i just don’t have carpet in the booojet, this seams like a great project to get some new change in a tired car .. aweseommman
Awesome video! Thanks for taking the time! We're painting our new stage risers (came with blech gray carpet) to black and painting looks WAY easier than more traditional dyeing which looked like a frickin' ton of steps! REALLY dig your ride too! ROKKON!! \m/
BTW: Nice to see somebody who actually knows how to use a spray-can! Watched another video to see if different opinion: Right away could see they didn't know how to spray so result wasn't as good as could have been. Just props!
It turned out awesome dude. I have a friend that did this on his GSR and recommended me this stuff. It turned out beautiful. I was going to do a carpet/floor overhaul video on my Integra. Nice channel btw, I subscribed. 🤙🏻

Thanks for showing us this product! I was thinking of dyeing my old, faded, stained tan carpet in my Volvo black, and I think I'm sold on the idea now.

I’ve done these to my cars. Plan to do it to my new to me, mercury grand marquis. I’m Just keeping it gray though, but covering the old coffee stains, etc, from the previous owners.
@@marcomelgoza8775 i would say a day or two. i super cleaned my truck with a commercial carpet cleaner first, then painted most of my trim panels and my seats. the smell isnt really that bad if your windows are open.
So mine came did fade off, I’m just gonna buy black carpet afterwards but it was worth a try. Although, my carpet was red and therefore harder to cover with black dye, and I didn’t properly clean it before hand. I suggest power washing it. But I think it would work great on grey carpet or respirating black. But overall it didn’t work great on red
Looks good. My z71 carpets are the same color as your original. Want to do mine black also. And I also want to do my headliner black . Thanks for the video.

That’s what I’m talking about!!! The small details make the job. Can you tell me where I can find new weatherstripping for my t-tops? I’m looking to replace that entire run of weatherstripping. Mine has a few bad spots. Thanks!!
Wheres the best place to get those plastic trim pieces? Also the cargo cover? My z31 is all tan interior and I'm trying to do EVERYTHING black. If you have links to places online for OEM trim and and interior that would be super helpful. Awesome vid though and I'll have to try out that dye for my carpet
You didn't vacuum or power wash the carpets after going through the hassle of taking them out? Glad to see the carpet still stays soft and not crunchy, like you said. Looks awesome!!
Is it prudent to simply tape and cover with sheets or tarp the interior so i can do my headliner? It seems really hard to get out since i have a sunroof. Theres beige plastic trim im gonna hit with some adhesive promoter and dupli vinyl matte black and for the fabric i think im gonna choose some of this fabric matte black from duplicolor also. I dont really wanna take more stuff out. Like theres grey in a lot of places and ive made the mistake of simply sanding them down because it is a lot of work alreadyhaha i dont imagine having to take so much stuff out to paint then reput it back in how it wwas
Has the carpet dye ever rubbed off? Im wanting to dye my wife's car carpet black also but she is worried about the dye potentially rubbing off on her shoes.
I did this once in a Civic , few days later it rubbed off..maybe there is a trick to it .but now I wanna do that with my Chevy S10..found some carpet for it. And wanna redo this idea with that.

spray it on heavy, and wear a rubber glove and work it into the fibres... I went from Blue two black it works not bad but it does fade overtime you'll have to redo it eventually
@@nidiraa7462 well that depends on how much you vacuum or clean it, I tried not to touch it or clean it as little as possible, if you're going to try it best of luck
I would have pressure washed it with heavy duty degreaser first. Then after every coat drys, take a brush to it to fluff it up, then re coat. Looks sick tho!
The other method that gets long lasting results is using Rit fabric dye!...the fabric dye gets down deep into the carpet making it last a lot longer!..Just put the rit dye in a sprayer bottle with hot water spray it on and let dry!. also rit dye is so much cheaper for a better result!...I tried Dupli-Colors dye paints but it does fade in a few months!...good video though!..cheers!

Honestly the best I've seen, RUclips has a ton of videos of the dupli color but your car looks so spotless afterward!
It’s because most people don’t take their time and do even 50:50 coats. Same with spray paint that’s the truck steady 50/50 coats and proper distance
That’s why most spray paint jobs on RUclips don’t look the best
