Wait a minute.... please...I love science and scientific study, I'm trying to keep updated on multiple aspects in different fields of study... but I never went to college,I'm a layman, like the vast majority of people on the planet. I'm really trying to catch up 'all the time" , I listen to people like Forrest,Gutsick, Matt..etc...etc to improve my understanding of reality,but when people..eg the above mentioned go on a rant because they have a modern coherent understanding on subjects that the mass majority never got up to speed as quickly as the cutting edge front line academics (above mentioned) ...I'm on the side of science but I'm starting to understand that the mass majority feel disconnected from the ultra fast forward thinking and new information (input) plus the feelings of condescension from the (above mentioned teachers) on the people like myself (average people) , it's one thing to be stuck in the dark ages... but another to try and keep up! i loved the show for years but the arguments without basic easy walk through layman explanation is maybe leaving the slower amongst us, "out in the cold " so to speak ? at least not these days. As a nd gamer nerd I thought this joke was funny years ago (which is why you can find me making similar jokes on the internet if you dig deep enough). Then I learned, that trans people felt invalidated by it, and that the origine of that "joke" was to achieve exactly that, and now it is no longer funny for me.
My response when I was called out and learned: "I did not know that. I am sorry, I will not engage in this "joke" anymore!"
Because I NEVER intended to invalidate or hurt people.
And I think that is were you reckognise the bigot, which is why I apreciate how Forrest went on about this. An honest not bigotted caller, that just did not know better would have answered, with genuine confusion; "Sorry, what was wrong about what I said, I thought it is a funny in joke, is it not?" And after being explained why it is not, they would have apologised and not make this "joke" ever again.
And that would be true actually wether or not they agree with every new concept about gender or not, as long as they are just people that follow basic rules about politeness and a peaceful live together in a diverse big society.
To be fair it's not 100% definitive that using the phrase, that took off as a meme for a while, is always intended to directly hurt the trans community. Many people may have seen memes and jokes about identifying as an attack helicopter, and NEVER looked into the origin or impact of it.

When people claim their pronouns are “something not a pronoun” I assume their grasp of the English language is reflective of their understanding of trans issues.
I'm not sure when, but transgenderism got lumped together with a bunch of people who weirdly "identify" as things outside the gender-discussions, like some people being like "I really feel like a wolf."
Though this might be somewhat self-brought because slogans that often float around trans/queer communities are stuff like "don't have others tell you who you can be" and other identity-affirming statements that should be more often acknowledged as exaggeration. You absolutely should listen to others on how you should be sometimes, what you identify with and what others think are just neither objective facts.
@sugartoothYT firstly, "transgenderism" is a shitty word used to dehumanized, so cut that out. Secondly, xenogenders are just as valid as any other form of gender. People relate to presentations of non human things all the time, we say people are brave as a lion, sturdy as an ox, and xenogenders just apply those socially ascribed aspects to gender. Ypu don't have to understand it, just respect it like you would anyone else.

There isn’t a genetic mechanism for someone to be born physically presenting human but emotionally and intellectually being a wolf. There are genetic mechanisms for a person to be born presenting female and feeling emotionally, intellectually, and sexually as male and vice versa.

This is so fun to watch because I have had three conversations like this that changed my mind. One was in about 2018 when a very male presenting person went by she/her and I was like "That is odd, looking as you do I don't think I could not default to male pronouns"
They said it was fine as long as I tried. So I looked into it more and recalled I went by feminine pronouns but it was bestowed upon me kind of as a joke not out of malice I just called myself Mom to a group of friends.
After that I was told I would not like female pronouns used on me, I said I have had that happen it was kinda fun. So then I was told that is not typical, most men would not do that. So I thought... huh yeah I guess not.
So we did it in VR I presented as female, and it was nice. So I just decided gender was kind of a weird concept, I don't really like it, other people can have it but it's just not for me. I guess I just like Science more than Chuck.

A trans person's existence lets my son know that he could possibly be trans. If my son thinks he could possibly be trans, then he will definitely end up trying to chop his penis off and then totally regret it and then kill himself. Some of my fellow trans folks in the community say they can't watch these kind of clips, because it reminds them of the discrimination we already face so much anyway, which I can get. Still, to me, there is such an immense satisfaction to seeing these peoples get flipped upside down and their words dissasembled, and even more so when Forrest does it with that passion he always brings to the table on anything he talks about, and with his deep, intriciate knowledge on the matter, knowing exactly where to find which quote to counter this crap...that were 38 immensely satisfying minutes that gave me a very good feeling, being reminded there are allies like you guys out there standing up for me, my girlfriend and my friends. 3. cannot distinguish between reality and imagination, confidently pretending to know a reality they cannot possibly know.
4. vilify, hate, ostracize, harm, and shun others who are different only because they are different.
5. insist they are divinely entitled to forcibly micromanage the lives of others.

I cannot conceive of reacting the way Chuck did here. Instead of answering the question, his brain produced "what emotion am I supposed to be experiencing at this time?"

Now of course we all know that trans people are not suffering from mental illness, but he is admitting to intensionally mocking and laughing at people he feels suffer from mental illness. Chuck is a great example of how an honest review of the facts of being trans can only lead to being supportive. Every reason he sighs for being against it is either a lie, misunderstanding, or out right false.
I've built up such a tolerance for transphobia if someone put their pronouns as attack helicopter I would just go "okay dude" and move on, its super refreshing to see people not letting it go so easily.
