Imagine buying this and putting it on the turntable and just letting the music wash over you, as we did back in 1974. Such a great time. Saw this version of RTF tour this album, too. Just amazing!
Saw this band on 1975/04/27 in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Vancouver B.C. Larry Coryell (with The Eleventh House) played before RTF. He said "wait until you hear Chick, you won't remember we were even here". A magical night.
Song To The Pharoah Kings is a monster tune. At the 10:00 mark on this video, it transitions from a tango-like groove into some sort of demented waltz - Brilliant! All 4 players are at their best here. Clarke is fat and in it to win it throughout! Around 10:55 Lenny gives those skins some serious heat! Al Di Meola's best guitar solo of his whole career begins at 14:51 ....and Chick-magnificent! The coolest sythn sound around!
This Lil Bassist grew up in Queens, where all of those wonderful musicians lived, Bootsy on his trike, Sri Chinmoy of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, watched Stanley Clarke carry that big acoustic to jams, it all inspired me to play.🙏
Same for me , the progressions are very nuanced; Takes a very discipline ear to sit and really listen to what is being played and how it all comes together. It is very metaphysical when one really appreciates the magnitude of whats going on with these guys. I have played in bands with the same synchonicity.
...I can't count or even guess how many times I've listened to this album. Read the comments and I agree with all y'all. So, I know you all know "No Mystery" is just as awesome, right?! Then there is "Romantic Warrior" WoW !
interesting mk smith lenny chic al stanley put it down in pitts so hard didnt wanna move a muscle to go getta drink matter fact had the same one at end of show

Funny considering that the turntable that I recorded this off was from 1974 a Victor specifically.

Got ya, me too and now he's gone!
@@FrancisFurtak I'd hoped to be able to see him in concert one more time .... :'(
I had the same experience. My folks got me a turntable and speakers when I was a teenager and I played this LP and it blew my mind
In 1974 this album changed me forever.
Losing Chick today makes my heart and soul ache . So many fine memories accompany his music. So sad .
Al dimeola is only 19 here ,brilliant guitarist
My First RTF album bought in NYC 1974, still playing these jams on an orbit turntable today

Technical fusion jazz. And freaky at the same time!
This will forever make me think of Nurse Chapel and Mr. Spock fulfilling her fantasy....
