- Most of us are aware that we must never share our bank account, card or OTP details with an unknown caller. But did you know that fraudsters can scam you even without these details?
Here’s how the scam happens:
Scammers contact victims and pretend they are calling from the PhonePe Customer Service
They say that they are contacting because the victim has some unclaimed cashback received in his PhonePe wallet received from the previous transactions
They send a Money Request to the victim once he confirms that he is using PhonePe. Further, the scammers say that in order to avail the cashback in the Bank account, the victim needs to accept.
As Receiving money does not need the user to enter his UPI PIN, people get suspicious and question the scammer about the same
The scammer then convinces the victim that the cashback received is in the wallet and in order to transfer it to the Bank account, the PIN has to be entered.
When victims complain about the debited money, the scammer assures them that it will get credited in 48 hours or make some excuses to make victims pay again.
In reality, upon accepting the request and entering the UPI PIN, money is debited from the Victim’s account and transferred into Scammer’s account.
UPI PIN is always used to give money.. You never need UPI PIN to receive money

The main culprit is that customer care service Guy who gives these fraudsters a complete PDF of confidencial phone numbers.

Only solution for this is hard core punishment in public to such criminals. And depriving such criminals from all financial institution life time. e. g. Not allowed to open bank account, not allowed to have any credit card etc.And publicize his full family details too. Our laws are too shoft and court proceeding is pro- criminals,and any advocate appearing for such criminal and telling lie or asking his client (criminal) to tell lie in court should also be given same punishment as criminals.
Hard punishment during first crime is essential.

My father has been scammed via phone pe last year during first lockdown. We reported to mumbai police but they did nothing. And we have lost our 12k rupees via this. I wished I should have been at my house that time instead of my cousin's house. Please don't do anything to get any cashback offers. It's increasing alot

I got frequently RBI lucky draw lottery through email . I also got sms from perticular number and then share this number with RBI through email whithin the hour but RBI response after one month with gyan ki bate bagera bagera . Phone number ko pakarke turant action le saktethe RBI with the help of cyber crime dept. But unone kiya nehi lagta to hai sorso main bhut hai .
