BASE APK: courier and delivery services fraud

- A friend decided to foolishly send an app file via whatsapp. The file was named base.apk. I immediately informed him about the risks of downloading APK files online. So I've located the file in my files. It was in the not installed section. I immediately deleted it. Am I safe or should I factory reset the device ? Also what could base.apk file be ? Asked my friend he was not very informative.The digital world has been hit by new fraud MO that involves a courier sending a photo of a package in an APK file. This ruse has been the talk of the town and you should be careful of it.
It runs by fraud perpetrators who pose as a courier of an expedition service company. Now that people are becoming more aware of this new MO, the fraudsters will use another way to scam people.
The Danger of APK Files
The file you clicked is not a photo, but an APK file that needs to be installed on your device. Then, you will be asked to give permission to allow the app to take photos and record videos, access your SMS, and can send SMS from your mobile phone.
Once installed, it only takes 45-60 minutes for the fraudster to empty all of your data, including m-banking data stored on your phone. It means that the fraud perpetrator will automatically gain access to your m-banking account. Even worse, they can remotely control your phone so they can do whatever they want.
Fraud usingAPK files is arguably a very dangerous scam. When you have clicked and installed the APK file, then all your data will be harvested and known by the fraudster. In fact, they can also know whatever you type, Simply put, the perpetrator will also know all the PINs, passwords, or OTP codes of your banking account..
By knowing the dangers posed by this APK file scam, you should never click on APK files carelessly which can compromise the confidentiality of your data including your m-banking account.

He told me the delivery person has reached your area but the address you gave is not fully correct, so download the apk file and update ur address. I had a doubt so didn't do it and came to check and found this useful video. Thanks for posting this.

Since Govt is aware of Jamtara involvement, why not net services is blocked at that place (Jamtara) where internet is utilized only for criminal purposes

Hii sir, mera ek courier tha essi tarah kai log nai mujai aaj call kiya tha aur ek link bhaija what's up main kaha ki apka courier wapas agaya hai esliyai apko active kai leyai 1rs pay karna hai. Main nai woh details fill karkai pay kiya woh under process dekha raha tha. Baad unno nai yahi aap ko share base apk karkai number edit kiya mujai normal msg main otp Amazon ka aya tha. Uss OTP ko chodkai dusra puch rahai tha. main nai woh nahi bataya aur woh bolai ki apka parcel nahi ayai ga. Fir bhi nahi bataya OTP amount toh nahi deduct huwa abhi hopefully agai account sai na ho. एटीएम या क्रेडिट कार्ड डिलीवरी को रोक लेते है और 4-5 दिनों तक पाने वाला अवैलेबल नहीं का रिमार्क डालते है। इसी दौरान पाने वाले को के वाई सी पूरी करने का मेसेज और लिंक भेजते है, बहुत से लोग इसमें फंस जाते है क्योंकि उन्होंने अभी अभी कार्ड अप्लाई किया होता है और कन्फ्यूजन में गलती कर बेथीट है, अगर नहीं फंसे तो 4-5 दिन बाद कार्ड डिलीवरी कर देते है। डिलीवरी बॉय k पास मोबाइल नंबर, कोनसा कार्ड अप्लाई किया ये जानकारी उस पैकेट के कारण उसके पास होती है।
