High Press Soccer Practice | Birmingham City Academy Training Session

Following Birmingham City's U13/14's 2v2 Pressing Game with Chris Lathem, James Fry, the then U13-14s Coach and Head Coach: Football and Education Programme develops the session with a High Press Possession Game.
Throughout the day, the coaching team have developed the session from 1v1 into 2v2 and now into 4v4.
James progressed the session into a 4v4+1 with 2 goalkeepers. One team's focus was to score in the two mini goals and play with the keepers, while the pressing team looked to defend those goals.
If the pressing won the ball, they needed to look to quickly score past the goalkeeper in the same half.
James wanted players to look at the high press and their pressing angles as an individual and to support as a team.
Additional outcomes include communication, supporting and covering your teammate, 1v1 duels and counter-attacks.
