I apologize if some of the information regarding pipe drop rates was inaccurate. Everywhere I looked gave me different percentages, not to mention the fact that pipes in general have a lot of factors that can change the drop chances. Even the in-game percentage list changes every single time you pull an item from the pipe, so just take my explanation as a generalized overview of the odds instead of a concrete definition.
I hope you enjoyed nonetheless!
In every 100 pipe you can earn a single random high end of each category (1 driver, 1 kart and 1 glider) without mentioning spotlights
Hey. I consider myself a tour veteran, having played the game since launch. I have mainly been gold pass but have purchased some packs before.
This video was very well made and certainly does a great job at highlighting issues with the game, there are just a few things I'd like to note. This is not in a mean-spirited way, btw.
- Saving rubies is honestly the best way to go. Pulling constantly leads to frustration as you'll always have a very low chance at getting what you want. Even if it means skipping someone or something you like, it'll be worth it in the long run if you save.
- When it comes to building your inventory, it is very much still difficult but with tier shop, token shop, the all-clear pipe and such, it isn't as bad as it was at launch. You straight up get handed a high-end for free every tour and there some very good parts in there.
Personal things I'd like to note, too.
- Don't busy yourself with ranked if you don't have a fighting chance. The grind with no reward will only really lead to frustration (again).
- Don't fall into the trap, as you said. If you're going to commit to a purchase, make sure you know it will be worth it to you and you have the cash for it to not be a waste. I've been mainly gold pass for a long time and I've been managing fine since beginning, even with bumps across the road.
To summarise, Tour is far from the worst example of a gacha game, but it used to be much closer to being that example. Here's to hoping the game continues to improve and become more F2P-friendly. New watchers, Tour has come a very long way since the beginning and it may even be worth another try if you're curious.
as a decently active tour player this was a good video! i honestly agreed with alot more points you made than i thought i would, honestly if they just demoted drivers from high ends and made 10 pulls 25 it’d honestly make a f2p player like myself play more. but as of now i mostly just see tour as a frequently updated mario fanservice game
I have mixed feelings about Tour. They do some stuff I wish the normal Mario Karts would do, like bringing missions back from Mario Kart DS in some form, and having more different characters and interesting variations on existing tracks. I played it for some time and enjoyed it, but at least for me the gambling stuff while fun in the beginning got old pretty quickly and then became annoying and overwhelming in a way. I stopped caring about the points and I didn't know what to buy from my coins, and that stuff you could buy as well as the available courses changed so quickly that it felt like an obligation to boot the app and play every day (also because of the every day bonuses). Yea, it was all just too overwhelming.
Well damn, I guess I'm lucky that when I tried to play this a few years back it would crash on launch on my phone
throwback to when playing games was about having fun
wowza, such a great vid!! you're so underrated, i hope you get more subs!!! 💖💖
Nintendo counts this game as a mainline game
I hope you are joking if this is what we get instead of Mario Kart 9 it is a real letdown
@@Dave534 they showed in the 8dx dlc trailler and in the history of mario kart 2022 edition
@@Dave534 deal with it lmao. There’s absolutely a *mainline* Mario Kart that you hate even if you never thought that was possible. There’s no denying
I got sick of the gold pass being shoved in my face that I bought it then refunded it, and I kept everything that came with it apart from the 200cc races. I don’t suggest doing it more than once though, as they will click on to what you’re doing.
Huh, I never knew they did that. I gave in almost immediately back in 2019 and have paid for it whenever I played actively. I guess it only makes sense though.
@@Chipss You have to refund it through Apple’s report a problem page and you request it from there. Nintendo would definitely never have such a feature.
Oh I was referring to them shoving the pass in your face, but yeah I agree Nintendo would never do that lol
@@Chipss Oh my mistake! Thank you for making a video on the topic. I keep seeing these pipe pull videos and I always thought it was just me who thought it was a big scam.
Wow. It's surprising that Nintendo hasn't blocked this video yet. You are too smart, bro!
This aged, it's still bad but the ruby pipes got removed
In my opinion, the replacement for the pipes, the Spotlight Shop, is even worse. It never allows free players to simply get lucky with a pipe pull and get something good. They’re forced to pay the shop premium. At least they’re being more generous with Rubies since the pipe removal update.
Ftp gang I ain’t spending a damn dime or pretty penny
Respect to you for that, but all the people that blow hundreds or even thousands on the game are unfortunately making up for all the F2P players’ lack of monetary support. That’s why I said this will only be solved through federal laws that forbid gacha systems in games…
3:47 Cats aren´t goats, I think it will be fine! :]
Crazy that the Mario Kart Mobile Game is more Pay2Win then a Pokémon Mobile Game (Pokémon Unite)...
I don't really play Android games that much, and Mario Kart Tour hasn't looked that appealing to me. And since you automatically accelerate and are confined to the track means you can't explore the track and otherwise screw around, which was a big turnoff for me. I'm glad most of the good tracks are on Mario Kart 8 DX...
What do you mean Mario Kart Tour isn't the best game ever?
What makes this even worse is Mario Kart can already be played on the go the reason I bought a Switch is so I don’t have to suffer mobile gaming when away from home
