      a lot of people, especially in the gaming space seem to think that North America, Europe and Asia are the only places on the planet (and that Europe is a small place when it's one of the most populous places in the world), especially obvious when people just say "Europe" instead of PAL, or "European units" instead of Metric/Celsius "European dates" instead of standard or international dates, all of these things are used by pretty much the entire world aside from North America or even JUST the US. People in RUclips comments (almost certainly Ameircans) will also go "eww bri ish" or something like that when you do something thats a standard in every dialect other than specifically US English, like spell it "colour" or "realise", like even Canada uses those spellings.

    the PSP Street is pretty solid just as a low-cost, low-risk gaming device similar to the 2DS. I'm in Australlia and my friend had one back in the day just for playing games on the schoolbus, only issue with it was no Ad-Hoc multiplayer so me and my other friends who had PSPs could play stuff like LittleBigPlanet, ModNation Racers and WipEout together on the bus or at recess and poor 'ol Ben who got a PSP Street had to play solo, didn't seem to mind too much though.

    I have a custom one, got it for basically nothing, i had a broken black one, and i bought a white one for 15 euros, it was broken as well, so i made a white and black version, every button is black, even the bar underneath the screen is black on my psp, and i have to say, it looks amazing! Yes the back is a bit finicky, but, if you know how to take it off it is actually easier to get acces to the disk drive, that squeeky noise is because the motor slips on a gear that gets sticky because of the lubricant sony used (very cheap and horrible stuff), clean that out of there, and it works like new! I've put in a battery from a ps 4 controller which is 50mah more than the stock battery, gives me great batterylife.

    Yes the PSP is region coded; the one you have there is a region 5 edition (according to what I noticed it says on the box). Not sure if the games you have there are region 5 or not. (Because it is modded, however, it may be that the region code is irrelevant; as this is something that can be done when using a modded/jailbroken device I believe). (Correction - as someone else has said the region code is for movie discs, the games are region free. A mod/jailbreak still would allow this to be no problem. An Action Replay would also allow multi region either way).

    My psp street has a really great screen. I have every psp model modded and the street is the one I take everywhere because it’s quite durable. Cheap feeling and loads of plastic, but that’s exactly what makes it durable for travel. Like a big ol dmg. It doesn’t have internet and I kinda like that, it has all the games I could ever want on it from ps1 and psp. Because I use it as my travel psp I’ve grown super attached to it, as a stock psp it’s horrible, but you can do a super big battery mod that utilises the umd drive spot, (you just glue the back on permanently and only play games from memory card) I found myself putting a couple of tiny totoro stickers on it and it feels like a good friend. Now getting a normal psp and putting on a glass lens, ips screen and larger battery is obviously better in every way shape and form, good bang for buck. The street screen should be way better than what you’ve got there which is a shame, it literally shared the same as the 3000 internals and screen specs from memory. I just think it’s like a neat cross over between a dmg and a psp. I fully agree though that it’s not worth the price in America but in Europe and Australia (pal countries) they’re pretty common and cheap if you know where to look. It’s become my favourite psp due to practicality, size and weight and like I said it’s fairly durable. If I could recommend one psp to someone who doesn’t have one it would be the psp go though now that you can expand the memory so much

Fully functional on all original parts, so I really can’t complain about the build quality, and I think it looks the best out of all the psp’s too!(limited editions excluded) The screen is imo the best out of all the non-GO models too, if you can get over the dimming when looking at it from underneath. It also feels more comfortable to hold than the slim 2000/3000 models to me due to the extra thickness. The only psp I like to use more is the Monster Hunter limited 3000

    Not sure about this version, but my PSP 3000 started squeaking and I think it's just an age thing. I had to open the UMD cover and take off a plastic sticker covering the UMD drive motor near the bottom around the hinge. Once the sticker was off, I could take a q-tip with multi purpose oil and rub it into that motor area. There was a video on RUclips that helped me figure it out. Not sure if that would work on this model though.

    Why did Sony make this thing? Lol

      As a budget option that was rugged and risk-free, primarily for children, so their parents wouldn't have to worry about them breaking an expensive gadget like the 3DS or PS Vita that was coming out at the time. Speaking from experience because as an Australian I had a friend who got a PSP Street around the time and took it to school every day, saw a fair few Streets that other kids at my school had as well.

      Sony almost always makes their consoles worse over time. For example the PS3 had backwards compatibility and looked freaking awesome and then they released that last model with the horrible top loading tray, the PS Vita got downgraded to an ips screen, the PSP as you can see, even the PS2 slim was worse imo and now, the PS5 slim. Yeah, it is a little slimmer, but now it has horrible shiny plastic 😂. Idk, sony is weird.

    Alot of people claimed the 1000 version was to heavy but every version after was made cheaper. It felt like cheap plastic and. The 1000 was super tough. It could get dropped and thrown and it would probably be ok. The 2000 version and after would crack, chip and the bottons would break easily

      The PSP 1000 feels like a powerhouse in comparison. It was $250 at release. Makes sense!

    I wish Sony made the PSP street more premium. I like the matte finish it has, but not having internet and being cheaper in build are setbacks, not a fan of the buttons, too.
    If I could build my own dream PSP, it'll probably be the matte finish from Street, the screen from the 3000 (though I heard the Go has a better screen but idk) and give it proper buttons at the bottom, I'd even keep the back piece of the street, but I'll keep the auto opening from the 1000 series, a feature I wish they never removed from later models and obviously make the battery easier to remove.

    • @jrob0021
      @jrob0021  7 месяцев назад +4

      Yeah the matte is a cool design. I’d agree with your assessment- essentially make one of the older models matte and that’d be cool

    • @am_pm.17
      @am_pm.17 6 месяцев назад +1

      That defeats the purpose of the Street. It was meant to be a budget model. Every more premium thing automatically adds to the cost of making them and the retail price,

    The PSP-1000 is still the best model IMO. Kinda like the OG NDS, it's chunkier but it works for the ergonomics. Shame it has only half the RAM.

    PSP has some good games to play even in 2024.....I have a modded PlayStation Vita with Adrenaline (Adrenaline is pretty much a full blown PSP for Vita)....but even just a few months ago I was playing GTA Vice City Stories, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, Mortal Kombat (PSP ones, I do have the Mortal Kombat game for Vita as well), God of War games for PSP...i use my Vita to play more PSP games than I do to play Vita games....another note, PSP is in fact region free

    Man, I always wanted a PSP. Parents got me a DS back then, which is enough. I have so many things that can run PPSSPP now that I dunno if it's worth trying to get one. They are pretty dang cool though.

    If you really want a cool PSP that not many people have heard of get a 3000 Monster Hunter Edition. It's the only 3000 that I know of that works with a 1000 battery (which was the better quality battery).

    I remember seeing PSP Street for 1000 UAH in 2013 (like 120$), no wonder it was so popular. Even the cheapest smartphone of the time would cost more and provide worse gaming experience.
