    Will try to fix microphone tomorrow. Quite horrible to edit as well.

    Thanks for these. I'm very much a shogi beginner, so these are quite useful. If possible, would you be able to spend a bit more time on each castle? Possibly just showing how they defend from attacks in a general sense, but more to give a bit more time to help internalise how the defensive pieces defend each other and the squares around them.

      Yes but I think this is more part of the middle/endgame. Eventually we will arrive at topic of "castle breaking". For now remember, try it out, observe other player's use them! :)

    thank you for your amazing work. I hope one day we get a shogi boom like we did with chess.

    thank you so much there was no source of getting recent information and newer castles as the former vnformation from for example hidetchi is already 10 ears old its so good to finally learn some newer stuff

    Hehe... Shogi Harbour starts by teaching us Boat castle. 🙂
    Truck Castle looks pretty cool.

    I'm curious if there are going to be videos in the series (or another more advanced series) about deciding when (and how) to start the attack in the opening:
    Like clearly there are some attacks that make the counterattack stronger (as per one of the first videos), but the decision between "develop castle further" and "press the attack" seems really interesting

      I expect we finish opening and then go into middle game. Then the topic you mentioned will become very important :)

    Hey Karolina,
    Thanks for the great content!
    One question about all these castles where we put our king on the opposite side of the rook - can't that run into problems if our opponent plays static rook? :D I am always a bit worried to put my king on the same side of the board where their rook might open me oup.

    • @ShogiHarbour
      @ShogiHarbour  9 месяцев назад

      It is a normal strategy but yes nowadays people tend to leave the king nearer the center for that exact reason.

    I beat Shogi on Android today on level 4 as white, moving second. Was such a clean game, I attacked on both sides. I still don't really need to use castles though

    • @ShogiHarbour
      @ShogiHarbour  7 месяцев назад

      Awesome!! One day you will find them necessary as the opponent's counter will find your king weak in the middle of the board. But do not mind it for now :)

    So many variations. I guess if u just use ur brain, you can create some kind of castle without realizing

    Good video to reference :)
    Would be good to start building some static rook castles rather than going full on Bogin cause I forget the shapes :P

    Deep L translates 大盾囲い as
    shield fence
    Alternatives:
    fence around a shield
    shield enclosure
    mansard fence
    Google translates 大盾囲い as
    large shield enclosure
    Bing translates 大盾囲い as
    Large shield enclosure

    • @ShogiHarbour
      @ShogiHarbour  Год назад +1

      So the enclosure part is castle :) I think large shield is correct translation, just doesn't feel cool enough!

    Thanks for the video. I have tried several time boat castle against swinging rook, but always have found the weakness of the diagonal hard to manage. Maybe big four leaves no general for attacking and could be an unbalanced game. What would you suggest as an intermediate option?

    • @ShogiHarbour
      @ShogiHarbour  Год назад +1

      Either Mino type or basic anaguma.
