  • There has been much anticipation of new hardware from Apple, Meta and Google that will enable us to experience the metaverse. VOICES 2022 speaker, Imran Chaudhri, believes there is another way.
As the former director of design at Apple, where he worked for 20 years, Imran Chaudhri is credited for creating the original user interface of the iPhone, to other popular products including the Mac, iPod, iPad, Apple Watch and AirPods.
In 2019, he co-founded the technology product design company Humane, along with his wife, Bethany Bongiorno. Humane is driven by Imran’s insistence on putting the human experience front and centre in the design process.

It seems like an invisible personal (and offline) AI assistant that you carry everywhere with you, replacing the smartphone.

12 years back i watch same type of lecture that phones will change everything and we laugh that time think as joke prediction. But now we see most of things people do on phones it really happens we are really now in future which we think in our childhood how future looks like. We imagine in our childhood touch screen mobile tablets watches Alexa now it really happens. Japan is working on smarthomes and some countries didn't get proper electricity so I think some countries are in past some are in future.

The device he showed at TED was amazing and met all of what he spoke about. This guy has had so much to do with driving new technologies. I suspect he has seen where things were going with headsets like the Oculus, HoloLense and VisionPro and didn't want his kids to live like that, and I cant help but agree with him - the more we can get away from screens the better. I think he holds so many of the values on privacy and trust from his time at Apple and this would be embedded in his technology from the start. Certainly something and someone to look out for in the coming months and years. I for one applaud what he and the team are trying to achieve.

what if we don't want all that information.. its nice to need to ask another human for information e.g. where did you buy your sneakers? and have a normal conversation

Hmm so, a future w no devices. I’m taking he’s subliminally talking about neural chips (like Musk’s) and implants to enhance our experiences. So we become the devices.
So if AI in the future can shape my experience of my friend’s wedding and has the potential to enhance it…how will I know it’s real? What are the limits? How can I believe these are going to be true memories? Will AI be capable of generate fake memories? Beliefs?

What I didn't hear but I wish I did is, the effect of non-native EMF (electro magnetic frequencies) on human cell and death of mitochondria. It's not only about blue screens affecting our circadian rhythm but the whole coverage with Wifi. Innovations are welcome and exciting but not at the price of a fundamental health.

I like how he finishes his speech with a Namaste. 🙏🏼 I am completely for this idea! Devices like the Vision Pro and microchips developed by Neuralink look too dubious. This may very well become the future of computing, where you don’t have to wear bulky gadgets or implant chips in your brain, yet experience a seamless interaction with a machine.

Technology enhancing "authentic" human connection? How is it an AUTHENTIC human experience if technology is interfering? Black Mirror has already shown us where this is going. The language he used in the first half of the video inferred us being dominated by technology rather than the other way around. I enjoy being human. I enjoy the benefits of technology without having it integrated into my body and being. Beware of false prophets and wolves in sheep's clothing.
