ERRATA: In this video, I referred to Dafydd and myself as "very responsible men in our 30s." Dafydd would like to point out that he is, in fact, 28. Guy would like to point out that he is, in fact, not very responsible.
Hearing Guy say the words 'AC 20' and 'SRM 6' made me far more excited than I thought. I beg you, please. Please, do more Battletech content. Failure to do so may result in a 'customer service' call to ComSta -- I mean, RUclips. ♥
The best thing about the Steiner Scout Lance joke is that Steiner commanders are mostly incompetent rich assholes, so it makes *perfect* sense that they'd pick a mech that seems intimidating when it's really useless in practice. It'll rip your arms off... eventually... if you stop moving...
Let me add my voice to the choir asking for a large-scale Timber Wolf next! It's only fair to paint the most iconic Clan mech to pair off against the most iconic Inner Sphere mech. Imagine the rules too: 40 frag missiles, three lascannons, two heavy lascannons, and two heavy stubbers. And that's just the Prime variant... The TBR-D would come with two plasma decimators and 24 Krak missiles, a dozen facing forwards and another facing backwards
There's going to be a readily available large scale Timberwolf in a few months, though sadly not THAT large. The most recent Battletech kickstarter had a 4 inch tall timberwolf included in every pledge
That base blue paint is amazingly rich. The Atlas is a very cool model; well done everyone involved in designing, printing and painting it. Patron Covert Sandwich's username really made me giggle.
I think the FDM worked out really well for this model. The slight bit of layer lines you didn't manage to hide give it more of a metal feel than something perfectly smooth.
Funny enough, your guide to the robot from Blackstone Fortress back in the day was how I learned to paint my Battletech mechs back when I first started painting. Now with you painting Battletech and me painting Warhammer, it's come a weird full circle!
BattleTech was my first tabletop minis love. It was great to see you paint the big Atlas, and I wouldn't mind seeing some standard BattleTech minis in the future... heck, or even some other giant robots!
Being of an older vintage myself, I have a huge soft spot for 'Mechs. And related to that specific vintage, my favourite is the Mad Cat / Timber Wolf. It was a fun game where as your mech got hit you filled up damage slots until bits became non-operational. Worst was when your cooling system got damaged. Then you were really screwed! This turned out great - thank Guy and everyone at Midwinter!
Mate the layer lines that are still visible literally HELP sell the scale of this Monstrous Mech!!! Like huge wrought iron panels or something!!??!! Love this!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
PLEASE more Battletech, I just got into it and I'd love to see more of your amazing content! Especially all the amazing lore you keep dropping in, I learned a lot!
Haven't heard of your channel before, but am interested for tips and tricks painting my Battletech minis. Thought I'd let you know the algo decided to show non-WH40k viewers your stuff! I'd love to see the timber wolf done on the same scale!
excelenty painted steiner scoutmech hope to see more BT videos, both heroic and normal scale, would be very funny to see a Jenner ( best light mech ) scale compared to a leman russ
Gesso for the initial layer is such a clever idea! A friend gifted me a large scale Rifleman that he printed, but I struggled to figure out how to handle those layer lines and shelved it. Thanks for giving the project the shot in the arm it needed.
Guy doing Battletech, and at heroic scale to boot? Sign me the fuck up. Stunning result. The ragged paint on the skull and glowing eyes really sell it as a terrifying war machine, and the Steiner scheme was a wonderful choice. Gorgeous model. Would love to see more!
I enjoy your exploration of you old favorites and it inspires me to look into areas of the hobby I have not seen before. Guy keep doing what you are doing I enjoyed the retro Warhammer and Judge Dredd videos.
As Battletech was my first love mini game back in the early 80's I really enjoyed this video. Would love to see you paint up a few of the battle packs or one of box sets.
this is so awesome, I actually 3d printed out an Atlas for a smaller diorama I just made. My first dio ever. Also thats one of the cleanest filament prints ive ever seen. Did a great job on that.
Serendipitously you released this video the day CGL completed its latest Battletech kickstarter campaign. I am thrilled to see you paint such a massive scaled mech! I've often wondered how a mech would look in 40k scale and I am not disapointed. Please keep up the Battletech content!
More please! As much as I've enjoyed your WH40k content, I would love to see you branch out into more of the sci-fi universes you love. Personally, I love to see your take on Homeworld stuff. (The concept art is just beautiful. I could spend hours just poring over it.)
Love battletech and am excited to see you paint more! Growing up, I always got my merc outfit to 4 atlas' in MW3, and always felt so cool dropping into a fray. This brought back some good memories! King Crab next!
Love Battletech/Mechwarrior! I've been playing all the PC games since the first game out and I even used to play the Battletech tabletop game with the little minis. Great to see a video about them! Go Rammstein!!
I love it!! I switched from a brief stint of 40K in 1991 back to Battletech as it was too hard to get me and my impoverished friends into 40K & Battletech clearly had better rules and game system in place. In fact it was remarkably balanced system for creating your own custom mech with sweet spots around every 15 tons or so between movement/heat/bigger guns.
I would love to see some more universes get painted! The battletech stuff seems cool, would love to see something like the start collecting battles with it? Even just a one off. Also next time you get any fdm prints try using scrapers and files instead of sanding, works much better!! Also there are some amazing patreon 3d model producers, I would to see your style of painting used to bring them and some of their creators some publicity!
ERRATA: In this video, I referred to Dafydd and myself as "very responsible men in our 30s."
Dafydd would like to point out that he is, in fact, 28.
Guy would like to point out that he is, in fact, not very responsible.
😆😆😆
Hey Midwinter, you think you could make a Skaven Army?
Where can we get one of these Atlas models???
Urban mech?
Mavericks Paint is an awesome guest to have over, his skills and tips are like no other for sure!
The Steiner scout lance, where weirdly enough everywhere they scout turns out to have 'just' been wiped out before they got there.
Just like a Warhound, scouting the smoking crater where the enemy was is still scouting!
If there is no one left alive to report then it counts as stealth
It's going to be one of those days
More Battletech, please! The community needs your talented hands!
For real
Seconded! more battletech
+1
Great to see Guy doing 1/4 of Steiner scout lance in this video XD
This! So much this!
my vote for King Crab
Warhammer or not, Guy surely knows how to excite us with titans.
Hearing Guy say the words 'AC 20' and 'SRM 6' made me far more excited than I thought.
I beg you, please. Please, do more Battletech content. Failure to do so may result in a 'customer service' call to ComSta -- I mean, RUclips. ♥
That Atlas looks like a fine addition to any Steiner Scout Lance.
Just two more and a Akuma who is totally not a Kuritan spy, no siree bob
The best thing about the Steiner Scout Lance joke is that Steiner commanders are mostly incompetent rich assholes, so it makes *perfect* sense that they'd pick a mech that seems intimidating when it's really useless in practice. It'll rip your arms off... eventually... if you stop moving...
@@colbyboucher6391to be fair if one makes it long range and give it a skilled pilot it works pretty well
@@colbyboucher6391ut yeah I totally agree with you they probably should have picked maybe an Orion or warhammer could work as a hang back heavy hitter

Truly a masterpiece of clan technology!

While the Atlas is iconic, Guy should have done a WHM-6R Warhammer just for the confusion factor
There is such a thing called spray filler primer that works really well with pla prints, as long as you have the time to sand everything lol
That’s what I use. Works pretty well.
OMG, we need to see a Timberwolf model at this scale! 😮❤
I love to see scout mechs being painted! Bravo, and don’t forget to pay your bills!
That base blue paint is amazingly rich. The Atlas is a very cool model; well done everyone involved in designing, printing and painting it.
Patron Covert Sandwich's username really made me giggle.
It's refreshing to see someone cover Battletech. Hope to see more! They have some amazing mech designs in there.
That blue is indeed gorgeous.
Have you seen bluest blue by the guy who did the pink pigment powder? That's *really* gorgeous
I haven't seen it in the flesh, but I'd like to try it!
@@MidwinterMinisThere's also YInMn Blue, which is potent.
I think the FDM worked out really well for this model. The slight bit of layer lines you didn't manage to hide give it more of a metal feel than something perfectly smooth.
Definitely more Battletech, I just recently found out about and want to play it
What a beautiful scout mech, love it!
I love the beginning of your Steiner Scout Lance, can't wait to see if more appear!
Funny enough, your guide to the robot from Blackstone Fortress back in the day was how I learned to paint my Battletech mechs back when I first started painting. Now with you painting Battletech and me painting Warhammer, it's come a weird full circle!
Thank you. Awesome video. Please paint more minis. Keep up the good work.
I've started into the Battletech hobby just this past month - I'm glad to see you covering it!
House Steiner battlemechs and Imperial Knights go incredible well together
BattleTech was my first tabletop minis love. It was great to see you paint the big Atlas, and I wouldn't mind seeing some standard BattleTech minis in the future... heck, or even some other giant robots!
I want to see a 40K scale Imperator Titan.

i had no idea that battletech had so much history... i'm tempted to give the books ago. i can imagine the lore is sick in this world.
That's brilliant Guy ! More Mechwarrior / Battletech on the channel would be amazing 🎉
I'm unreasonably happy that you're into Battletech - I'd love to see more content related to it in the future!!!

Thank you for doing this. ive loved this game series since its first installment
PMW (Polygon Masterworks) made that model, really cool to see it printed at this size, the details really shine.
Gesso for the initial layer is such a clever idea! A friend gifted me a large scale Rifleman that he printed, but I struggled to figure out how to handle those layer lines and shelved it. Thanks for giving the project the shot in the arm it needed.
This is amazing! Please, more Battletech on the channel!
2/3rds of a year later, still eagerly waiting for more BT content. Been loving your stuff since painting with the family.
More Battletech is always welcomed! Maybe something with the Tashcan?
Urbie derby!!!
#NoCurbieDaUrbie
Battletech is having a pretty big resurgence atm so good to see some!
It looks great. And that freehand fist is awesome.
We need more Battletech. ❤

Thanks for posting the link to Still Tower! I bought prints from his old store a few years ago and thought he had gone inactive.

That sponging on the head looks awesome

This set is amazing.
So happy for some Battletech content! Would love to see some more mini painting for the new Catalyst game.
this is so awesome, I actually 3d printed out an Atlas for a smaller diorama I just made. My first dio ever. Also thats one of the cleanest filament prints ive ever seen. Did a great job on that.
Please do more Battletech. It was my introduction into wargaming in the early nineties and I still love it.
As a Battletech fan I would LOVE more Battletech. Heroic scale or miniatures.
My favorite youtube artist showing love to my favorite game. This is a good day.
This is so extremely well done and I'm definitely saving this for reference when I finish printing my T'au Supremacy.
For some reason I didn’t see this in my timeline? Glad you put a post up about it keep up the good work
YASSSSS my favourite mech painted in the scheme of my favourite house. Solid job man, looks awesome!
So nice to see some Battletech representation! Thank you!
Gotta give respect to that good freehand
Absolutely love Battletech and hope you do make more videos about it!

Are you kidding me?! Rammstein and BattleTech?! I LOVE YOU. Thank you for including BT on MWM!!!!!!!!!
Always a pleasure watching one of these videos, especially when you mention Rammstein within 30 seconds of this one!
Definitely want to see more battletech content from you Guy, this was amazing!
Battletech! My favourite sci-fi war setting of my teens!!! More pls!🙂

*Insert obligatory request for more Battletech*
Stunning paint job, and the quality on that print was jaw dropping, couldn't believe it was FDM.
Always happy to see Battletech. One of my most beloved Sci fi settings and games on the tabletop and Mechwarrior.
Forever my favorite mech since I‘ve been a child!
OMG one of my favorite innersphere mechs! YUSSS
11:51 Oh, that's just perfect! Brilliant video man. Love it.
Real nice to see the relative size of an Atlas compared to a Knight and a Titan!
Troverian painted and sculpted the base for his everchosen 3rd place in 8 days, you can crack it out man, i belive in you
For sure more BattleTech! Excellent work also.
More battle tech!! My personal favorite is the Phoenix Hawk, but I think a video over the Kodiak would go over super well :)
Just wow! Thank you for sharing
I LOVE Battletech! Really nice to see and inspiring. Time to look for a King Crab STL.
Love battletech and am excited to see you paint more! Growing up, I always got my merc outfit to 4 atlas' in MW3, and always felt so cool dropping into a fray. This brought back some good memories!

Awesome! It's nice to see video about other things than 40k.
You know its a good day when midwinter minis makes a new video and i of course watch it
More of this!
Awesome result
You have put in more effort with this one side piece than I have the patience to do for a army.
This was really cool and it fits so well because i JUST backed the battletech kickstarter for a bunch of minis. Can't wait to paint them too
LOVE IT! You need to do more Battletech videos!! This was so much fun :) Fantastic paint job, including your freehand fist!
Just wanted to chime in that I'd love to see more Battletech content on the channel!
So Good, more battletech painting!!!!!
Excellent Video! Looking forward to seeing more battletech content.
I like the layer lines, makes it look like interlacing 😎
Lovely tank, I mean tech-mech thing. I remember playing a lot of one of the computer games a long time ago. And thanks for sharing the art!
Great video! Also, that AK Blue really is beautiful. I let out an involuntary "ooh!" I've got to get me some of that
