Going back to watch these mech paintjobs again; your mech paintings are some of my favorite on RUclips, I'd love to see you do more of them... quality Battletech painting online is fairly rare.
This is almost EXACTLY what I was looking to do with my opposition mechs for a campaign I'm going to run, we have our first game this Sunday. THANK YOU for posting this, it's perfect! 😊
...and here I thought I know (and own) all the TurboShift colors. This one is really neat. I have something similar from Vallejo, though, and GSW as well.
if you would like to copy the scheme with Army painter paints. Elf Green & Monster brown for the base colors, Strong tone wash & Mate white or Brain matter beige for the markings. Effects can be achieved with Wet mud & Dry rust.
My request is a more ad hoc, "bolted on" mercenary paint scheme that is unmatched but still aesthetically pleasing - I'm talking mis-matched arms, panels, and weapons with different shading on a single 'mech. Newly subbed and coming from the BattleTech PC game where player is a mercenary team trying to stay one step ahead of its creditors. As I understand the BT lore, there are basically no new bright, shiny 'mechs being built as the expertise, tech, and industrial capacity have been essentially lost. Based on gameplay, mercenary 'mechs frequently have armor - and arms and legs - blasted off and have to be quickly replaced while travelling between jobs with salvage or whatever parts that can be bought. I figure that 'mechs in a merc lance are going to look like a shade-tree mechanic's car: functional, but not uniform in paint scheme, dirty, greasy, blackened areas on the armor from jump jets, and slug and missile launchers - more like old farm equipment - "she ain't pruty, but she runs good..." Any uniform color or logo, identifying the merc group would be on a small area that a technician would just slap on real quick and the paint would still be wet as the 'mech dropped to earn that next paycheck. I'd like to see a paint job like that, please...
Oh very very much so! We're just in the process of figuring out both digital CBT on tabletop simulator and the Battletech RPG for remote sessions in my Discord! Battletech has gone nowhere!!
These look great. I was thinking of a similar scene for my Capellan force since I'm not a big fan of mechs being completely a single color like green for Capellan or red for Draconis Combine.
It is interesting how the steps and techniques are a bit foreign to how I paint. As an old Warhammer player I begin with darker colours and work myself outwards. I have never touched an airbrush admittedly.
The colour choice was mostly because I wanted something that looked like that yellow refractive glass and that was the nearest paint I had in that set. That and being a "camo" scheme so to speak, I didn't really want anything too poppy like blues, purples or pinks, because it would break up that "stealthy" vibe. But yeah, if you wanted to go in a more high contrast direction, it would definitely look cool, just wasn't what I was going for.
why few do the grass is because it's not really in scale, mechs are 1/285, grass at this scale is simulated well enough with pigment on uneven surface. Other than tha you've got a really good looking lance there, will use as inspiration for a lance of Liao mechs
I feel like the grass just reads more like really tall reeds, or tall shrubbery. At Battletech scale a human is about 6mm tall, so 2mm of tuft is representing about 2 feet tall in real scale. I don't think that's outside of believable at all personally. Plenty of grasses, reeds and shrubs get that tall.
Nice paint job, I like military schemes over bright ‘parade’ schemes. Keep up the great BT content too.
Thanks John, really glad you enjoyed it!
NEVER thought about using the Turbo Dork paints on cockpits. that's a slick idea!!!
I used the old GW jewel colors, but this looks even better.
Awesomes are Awesome! In MW5 the 8T is just really good pick!
Thank you! More BT and Infinity please (and no WH (sorry folks, just my opinion))
As two of my favourite games, rest assured I really wanna cover both as much as I can!
As a huge WH fan i agree. Theres enough of that lol
This is just the motivation I need to get some battle tech minis painted

I just received a premium Phoenixhawk... Which happens to also be my favourite mech. So there'll be more soon ;)
@@TesseractMinis sweet!!! Good to hear!
Nicest paint job I'v seen for B'tech for a long time - straightforward and effective!! Keep doing these videos
That's very kind of you John, thank you.
@@TesseractMinis Very welcome - now you have me looking out that boxset .... not easily influeneced or anything!!!
I chose the right time to reach out about BT it seems :P
You might just have, my friend ♥️
Ok fine! I'll play some Battletech :P
Such an awesome looking lance, I am once again jealous of your skills :) keep 'em coming
You're such a bloody sweetheart, you ♥️
Battle markings look really great on that scheme
Cheers!
Gorgeous colour scheme
Man this is killer well done 👏🏼

I would love to see more videos about battletech, i am thinking about getting into this board game
They look great, and it's amazing how nice a simple scheme works here.
It's inspiring to see how realistic those layers of colors look.

Those look really nice!
great color scheme. Thanks for sharing
gonna pick up some of that turbo dork. thanks!
Hey, really nice and fast painting. Looks awesome.
These look great!
Gorgeous as always
Nice video. Just getting into Battletech and using this as inspiration to paint up my two starter set mechs! Great work. More videos like this please!
Looking good!
It looks crazy good🎉🎉
It looks great, I really like it
Well done! Glad BT is still an interest for you.

I gravitate toward military paint schemes too. House Merik bugs the shyitt outt'a me.

wow i love the scheme! is the hemogloblin mettalic?
It is :)
Hi, have you ever used like a gloss varnish on just the cockpit glass to create a transparent layer?
I haven't. By the time you built up enough that it presented the desired effect, I fear the varnish would turn cloudy.
@@TesseractMinis oh didn’t know that would be an issue! Thankyou!
Great work! I'm intrigued by the cockpit color choice. Why not using a more contrasting color? I think it really helps when looking at it from afar
The colour choice was mostly because I wanted something that looked like that yellow refractive glass and that was the nearest paint I had in that set. @@TesseractMinis to be fair, it goes in the "bipedal tank" direction, making cockpits less obvious and making the mech feel more "armored". Good job.
Довольно просто и красиво, хотя технику всегда довольно просто красить, но все равно, видео отличное
How do you like the turbo paints ? I found some a few weeks ago and was wondering how they would turn out
I love them!

@@TesseractMinis that's true, looks good anyway
No varnish?
I'll probably varnish them at some point. Not really necessary to the tutorial though.
Itend to stay away from flocking the bases as it's hard to convey decent scale, rocks you can get away with more. :)
After hearing theres a small fee im clicking do not recomend this channel... GL
What are you spouting off about?
Dude designed his own print and wants to make a little profit for it.
It's not a charity you crybaby.
