- Toyota Tundra knock sensor replacement, so Toyota decided to put the knock sensors under the intake which that by itself would be okay, but then they covered the wiring harness in line seed oil?
Toyota practically made a mouse bed and breakfast in side your truck!lol🤦♂️
greetings from so cal where my sequoia has been sitting for the last year collecting rats nests and now throws a 0325 failed knock sensor code. thank you so much for the video./
Excellent video. Clear and concise. Thanks. (would like to know about how much has to come off the intake. I'll figure it out.
Wrap the new harness in aluminum tape and any others you can as a preventative
this absolutely happened to me after one week sitting. mice got up under the intake manifold and chewed the knock sensor harness. i paid about $45 for the harness from oreilly's, and got it fixed with just a few ratchets in about 2.5 hours.
Can you share part number for harness please
Thanks for the Video Going to tackle this on my 2014 4.6L. Rat poop all over the top cover and on top of the Cabin Air Filter. Would this issue throw a code for the Crankshaft Position Sensor P0335?
The rats probably ate some wires for the CP sensor, but the only way to know is to inspect all the wiring.
I just had the P0333 code thrown on my 12 toyota tundra 5.7 L. I have the TRD supercharger. The manifold cover is completely different. Do you happen to know if there's anything I need to look out for when removing that cover? Thanks btw for making and posting the video!
Ive never done one with a super charger but Im guessing there is More coolant lines and another gasket that has to be replaced for the super charger,
Did you replace the intake gasket?
Hello, I have a 2014 Toyota Tundra 5.7. question: will using 93 octane damage my Knock Sensor 3 Circuit High? My owners manual recommend 87octane and I have been using 93 for a few years. my code is P032D
I would run 87 octane per the owners manual , the 93 octane could over time damage the knock sensor and potentially the valve train not to mention you are probably getting worse gas milage with the higher octane fuel.
@@happybleeding Understood; thank you for taking the time to respond. I really appreciate it...
No problem any time
People dont bother to say the year, its a tundra?

Tundra knock sensor harness* replacement not knock sensor 😉
Good video.
Gave me confidence to do mine. Same problem. Mice
Hey Bradley !
its not that bad of a job could probably have it done in a couple hours .
Dude they ABSOLUTELY WRECKED my pops Tundra 😂 thanks for the video, literally he did what you said left it sitting for too long a week he didn't work lol
Yeah man the mice are brutal and the always seem to know what wires to chew on to completely mess it up! lol
Love the video. I’m doing my truck now🤪
Thanks so much for taking the time to document this repair. Rats had chewed off the wires to two of the four knock sensors on my 2008 Tundra. By watching this video I was able to do the repair myself in about 5-6 hours. I took my time and labeled each wire connector or hose as I disconnected them and got up to #22. This made putting everything back together pretty easy. Before I reinstalled the new wire harness, I wrapped it all with several additional layers of electrical tape, sprayed clear coat paint over the tape, and then sprinkled a bunch of cayenne pepper on the wet clear coat. Hopefully those darn rats leave it alone now. As you mentioned, the hardest part was getting those two back electrical bracket connectors released. Thanks again, you rock!
All that time and effort and you didnt fix the water leak!?
It only took me 2 hours to complete.
Not difficult at all.
Whats up Bradley ,
yeah not to bad ,
The tundra v8 is a really good engine, and not that difficult to work on ,
some of the inline 6 cylinders you have to remove the entire intake just to get to the spark plugs.
Hey there, just recently picked up a well kept high milage 08 5.7 limited. I drove the tundra back about 2 hours with no issues a couple days ago. Today went to start it and got p0333, high input knock sensor bank 2 sensor 2. I ordered a new Dorman wiring harness to get the ball rolling lol. Do you think it's the harness or could it be the oxygen sensor? I didn't take the manifold off just yet, waiting for the new harness to come 12/21 in first. Just spitballing to you due to the fact of you helping a lot of people with this common issue. Which is much appreciated! Thank you
Do you know the part number? mine sit at airports months... garage should have check your channel cause he said : «your intake was loose i retight it». what i understand, he overtight it... I redo it my self... i might have surprise from the mecanic who charged me few hundred for sh...
Are the knock sensors all the same? I have an intermittent problem with one sensor, just wondering if they're the same.
yeah I believe they are
Just got these codes on my 13 tundra.
its the knock sensor harness ,there are a couple companies on eBay that sell the complete harness.
Great breakdown. Keep getting a knock 002 code that I have to clear so I am not in limp mode. Rockauto & this video are about to save my a ton of hassle. THANK YOU
thanks for the video, what's the wire connector part number?
Managed to get a screen shot. Part #82219-0C020
Thanks for your sharing knowledge 👍!
No problem Khim Sopha Car Fixing !
thanks for supporting the channel!
Thanks Brother.
Where is the electrical connector on the back side? I can't see it very easy?
Finally got the manifold off, found the 2 10mm bolts holding the electrical harness to the manifold. Vacuumed out the rat bastards nest and waste and replaced the knock sensor wiring harness that was chewed (same place front passenger side). Will do some cleanup and spray peppermint oil in the area before installing the manifold back. Thanks for the video.
sorry ive been super busy, just saw your question
thanks for commenting im glad you got er done!
I'm in a similar position, the manifold is off and my issue now is that I don't know where to clip in the new wiring that connects the sensors to the truck. Please help.
the aftermarket harness is color coded I believe the Riverside connections are black(the ones that connect to the knock sensors )and the passenger side is grey, but double check there should only be one way it can fit
Thanks👍
Did you need to drain any coolant during this? Thank you for this video!
no you dont need to drain the coolant , I believe there is a couple coolant hoses on the intake just need to elevate them so it dosent spill everywhere, but its a totally doable job , there are a couple wiring harness connectors that can be kind of a pain but other than that its about a 2 hour job.
thanks for watching !
After watching this, it looked like you had some coolant gel pooled up under there as well(valley plate) 7:49 probably should reseal the valley cover with FIPG so your not losing coolant. After awhile it gets worse and your coolant overflow stays empty.
Yes a common issue. tracking it on my wifes 2016 Seq now. My 2019 tundra is good for now.
great job my brotha my brother in law called me and said his shit was doing the same thing i saw your video took his shit apart and sure enough the rats were having a damn wire chewing festival
Are the 2 sensor the same, or they have different parts number
Do you have any after market suppliers you recommend for both the sensors and the harness? Thanks.
Thank for this help! Just a couple questions, if you get time partner?
1. Are those 12mm torque bolts?
2. I noticed the rats ate right where the wires are exposed. Would electrical or gorilla tape help cover and protect them?
3. I bought an after market harness. Are they not made from mouse food for sure?
Thx man if you get time!!!
yeah I believe they are 12mm
you can use electrical tape anything helps to cover the wires
the aftermarket harness is not made with linseed oil , so you are safe
Is it in the same location on 2011 Tundra 4.6 L Engine? I just got the error code
they are on the top of the motor under the intake just like the 5.7, hope this helps
its a pretty straight forward job
Thanks for this excellent video @happybleeding
Sorry for being a noob - what spray did you use in this video to spray off the intake manifold?
I ws using break cleaner , but contact cleaner would have been better
Chingon brother
Super Chingon!!!!
If you dont mind me asking, what is that spray that you’re using on the bottom of the intake manifold, after you removed it?
brake cleaner
Good video. I have to do my wife ms sequoia soon.
Whats up Indiomonk123 , its not to bad of a job ,my advice to you is ohm out the knock sensors with a multimeter just so you don't have to go back and replace any of them about 3 or 4 days later this truck threw a bank 1 knock sensor code and I had to go back and replace the knock sensor.
@@happybleeding thanks again for the videos and advice!
Tacomas too
Hi where can I get a harness for. 2001 Toyota tundra v8
parts geek
Mine had a knock but no codes ?? What did the truck sound like before you replaced this?
it sounded ok just had a check engine light
What all did you use to clean /put on intake manifold
brake cleaner
I am having trouble after replacing the 2 sensors and connecting them with a new sub harness finding the end where it connects into the truck. I've followed the wire into a small black box that's connected to the starter. Where does it exit and connect in?
I have a 2005 Tundra SR5 crew cab
I believe there is a single connector on the black plastic box on one side if I remember correctly it should be the signal wire for the starter
@Happy & Bleeding thank you so much! I'll update on the end results. Appreciate it
Is it the same harness on a 4.6 tundra 2011
no I believe they are different
@@happybleeding where is it located?
Did you find it?
