Coffee affects adrenal glands a lot. Adrenal glands release cortisol then. Natural response for that cortisol is releasing glucose by liver. This can kick you out from ketosis. This is why many people have insulinresistant despite quite healthy eating. Stress make adrenal glands release cortisol, in response liver produce glucose, what make pancreas release insuline, and in state of constant stress person have blood sugar problems, and end up with insulinresistant. Only about half cases of this health problem is because of wrong diet.

Hi Thomas. Great video. Does adding cream to your coffee change this scenario..and how. There is also an opposing school of thought that says - The diuretic affect of caffeine depletes you of precious vitamins and minerals as well as fluids leading to dehydration. These are critical during your fasting periods and any day for that matter.
    - The affect it has on spiking Cortisol inhibits your ability to burn fat and especially belly fat. Ingestion of caffeine in the morning is even worse as cortisol levels are particularly high in the am as a way to kick start us in the morning.
    - Tannins and polyphenols in both Tea And Coffee inhibit the absorption of Non-Heme Iron by up to 60 % !!
While fasting it is critical to ensure that you eat foods rich in iron to ensure adequate oxygen transport. Coffee interrupts this vital step.
    - Coffee is acidic at a level around 4 to 4.5 thus causing irritating to the gut and intestinal tract leading to ulceration, poor digestion and inflammation. Since Snake Diet promotes a direction toward our bodies being in a more alkaline state for healing this is counter productive.
    - The effects of coffee on your hormones creates a roller-coaster affect on not only the thyroid but the adrenals as well affecting your mood, insomnia, anxiety, hot flashes, blood sugars and many other issues.
    - Obesity, Hypertension and Diabetes are commonly found together and adding coffee to the equation complicates everything further as this causes more issues of concern with the proper kidney function.
    Appreciate your feedback, thanks

My experience of coffee in ketosis (while intermittent fasting) is that it harshly depletes minerals, causes cramps at night, and adds fatigue by over taxing the adrenals.

QUESTION (SHOW IDEA): I was recently been made aware, by a coworker helping give a presentation, how much breathing exercises may help me when I start getting anxious/excited while talking about certain things or to certain people. After the comment, I thought back to many times when I would unconditionally stop breathing only for it to affect conversation, exercise, or once while I was studying and I started gasping for air. This would happen very infrequently but my coworkers comment made me think about the hormones released from the lungs in times of stress and their relation to dieting. I have a slow metabolism also so I wonder if their is a chance breathing is related. Learning some neat tips and tricks.

Shapoor II This is contraversal. The skinny. A study suggested it may cause gastric cancer. A follow up study found it did not cause gastric cancer. Its probably best to not over indulge in coffee just in case. Matter of fact its usually a good rule of thumb not to over do anything. There are boat loads of other studies that suggest coffee may give great health benefits. So having a cup or 2 a day might keep many problems away. "do what ever the fuck you wanna do!" hodge twins

Daily consumption of caffine stresses out the body from adrenaline produced by the adrenals, your body cannot recover as fast as it normally would because it is in a state of fight or flight instead of rest and recovery. Health is what you want, not just losing weight . Also coffee is acidic it takes your body out of being alkaline which makes your body susceptible to disease/parasites, dehydrates you, and slows all your processes down in general. You are a water system, keep your ph high and electrolytes in check. Hope this gave you insight and something to consider. Peace, stay motivated I love you ;)

Caffeine itself however is better to take mid-day if you use a monophasic sleep cycle, that way it doesn't interfere with your natural wakefulness hormones that you receive naturally in the morning if you're not already caffeine dependent and it'll give you an alertness boost mid-way through the day to increase your over-all productivity but wear-off at night when you should be going to bed. Though you'd still have the benefits of the effect on ketosis during your sleep especially if your goal is just weight loss.
Though I have to mention that your body does go into a lower energy state during sleep so it may not burn as much, though I'd still wager it's an increased benefit.

In one of your previous video's you spoke about the importance of gut healthy. I 100% agree...because in genral we dont take care of our gut as well as we should. Plus everything from digesting to burning fats to absorbing nutrients...all are affected by the gut. So my question...ive discovered Iaso tea...and its really like a miracle tea that helps the gut get rid of those toxins, bad bacteria and slug that builds up over time. I want to know if i can still have this tea...while on a ketosis diet and intermittent fasting.

Personally, coffee has a bit of an aggressive effect on me and I need to get it from other sources such as matcha, guarana, cocoa nibs, cola nut, yerba mate, green/black tea, etc. I'd be interested to know how they perform vs coffee with regard to ketosis. Also consider the anti-oxidants, (vitamins?) present in the various different forms of caffeinated beverages.

Ok so I’m a little confused... is it ok to have “bulletproof coffee” (butter and oil) in the morning while fasting or should I just be drinking strait black coffee before breaking my fast?

    • @ThePepsiwiz
      @ThePepsiwiz 6 лет назад +1

Bulletproof coffee is for people doing Keto. If you're fasting, bulletproof coffee will break your fast because you need to digest the butter.

Hi, would like to see a video on what your eating on a high calorie keto diet (weight gain/bodybuilding). There only so many scoops of coconut oil/MTC/and globs of butter I can stand in a day. If 60-75% of my diet is supposed to be fat, what can I eat to get there?

First, thank you for all the time and effort you put into this. I love your channel and you explain things so it is easy to understand. I have read up on and viewed many Keto videos on here and again, thank you for yours! Very informative... I started my Keto lifestyle change today, and was wondering about if I should or shouldn't drink coffee / and of course you had a video about it.
I just have to learn to skip the milk in my coffee.

What about the insulin produced in the body because of the carbs that were released due to the coffee. Doesn't this insulin block growth hormone if you are in a fasted state.

I see none of these are addressed. I had just learnt the same, it raises cortisol and so can not be good with the ups and downs so particularly for a reset I've been taught to be caffeine free initially. I'm sure once you're in a stable weight and healthy body situation a coffee in the morning or mid morning isn't going to be a bad thing.

In one of the videos you mentioned that ketosis doesn't go well with stress because ketosis is a stress itself (for the body). So if stress is bad for someone on ketogenic diet why coffee is recomended? Coffee creates a stress in the body, it puts one in a flight or fight mode by stimulating the stress hormones. It lacks consistency to me.

I'd be careful tho. Excess glucose in the bloodstream isn't that great when you also have fats.

Here's an challenging idea: Reverse engineer a meal plan for a fasting window which will achieve daily vitamin and mineral targets while remaining within a normal calorie range for an average person, and without supplements.

So what I took from this video is: You don't necessarily "NEED" to be on a ketogenic diet if you are an avid consumer of caffeine. Coffee hounds like me, (and those who have a high tolerance for caffeine) will do just fine with fat lipolysis by consuming their "usual/normal amounts" of daily consumption of caffeine. Especially if you are fasting. I think that the "glycogen dump" will actually work in your favor, and perhaps spare your lean tissue from being converted into glycogen. Personally, I think carb cycling is better than a ketogenic diet, because cutting carbs out totally is cutting out an important macro out of your diet......HAVING SAID THAT....If the ketogenic diet is something that you may want to try then just be sure to replace most if not all your carbs with fat and if you workout while on a ketogenic diet, it is vital to get enough protein in the process...I would say a 50%protein 40-45%fats and 5-10% carbs for the person that is active and wants to constantly be in ketosis. If you want you could flip the percentages for fats and proteins, but if you like to "body build" then definitely stick with the higher amounts of protein.....As for me, I like papas too much, so I will continue to drink my caffeine, fast, and workout like I've been doing.

I went from a high carb diet to a Keto diet over the past 3 months. I started out with a Triglyceride level of around 640 and it increased to a level over 2000 2 months after my body went into ketosis. I measured it again 3 weeks after the 2000+ reading, and it is still over 1500. My total cholesterol has stayed about the same at around 380. I eat no breads, milk, sugar or artificial sweeteners. I backed off of my protein too to get it closer to 30% of my calories. I am exercising more now too. The one thing I have done the mornings of my fasts for my last 2 blood tests is drink about 3 cups of black coffee which I was told is ok for the fast. I am also actually losing about 0.4 lb/day of fat weight too. Question I have is if the high Triglyceride levels are from the weight loss, the caffeine or both?

Just watched two of your videos and I love them. I am having problems each time I try to do Keto getting into the place where you feel good and have energy. I tried for two weeks then just quite. Do you have a video that talks about macro and keeping track of that or don’t you do it. I just looked for foods that were low carb and no sugar. Maybe I am doing it wrong. I didn’t feel hungry but just never had energy.

I wonder if this includes other forms of caffeine such as in chocolate? I drink a 12 oz cup of half-caff every other day and a 12 oz cup (or two) of dandelion/chicory/carob in the interim, so I'm not concerned so much with coffee caffeine. However, I do consume lots of chocolate.

Interesting! A couple of years ago, as a coffee drinker, I lost weight really fast on keto... 91lbs in 7 months. Eventually fell off the wagon and regained some. Started keto again 6 weeks ago after giving up all caffeine 3 months earlier, and the weight was coming off really slow. Figured the only difference was this time I was not having caffeine, so I have reintroduced it in the hope that my weight loss speeds up.

I feel like the only caffeine problem is for intermittent fasters. Being a xenobiotic, even black coffee, technically breaks the fast, because all xenobiotics have to be metabolized.

I’ve been off caffeine for two days and my ketone levels are double what they normally are. This goes against what most of the research says.
This is just after one meter reading, so I’m going to measure a few more times to see if it’s a fluke or not.

brush them, but i never use toothpaste.. just warm water and brush it, scrap the tongue. thats it.. but i do OMAD and eat at 7-8Pm at home, so i can brush using toothpaste right after it.. morning i just brush like I've said infront.

When you brush your teeth, you always consume a small amount of toothpaste (specially if you use more than the pea size amount). This can upset your stomach, or stimulate your stomach so you get hungry. Anything you don't eat (or take, like medications), don't exercise or don't stress has no effect in your fasting.
