    But max velocity obviously means a persons max speed right, so why would you not want to be running at your maximum speed as early in the race as you can?.?

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  6 лет назад +13

      Good question, but you also need to know about deceleration. If I'm running maxV at 10m, my body, naturally will begin to decelerate around 40-50m. You still have have 50m left to run. That's when you see the athletes that get caught at the end if the race. They were patient In Their acceleration. Make sense?

    In the acceleration phase, Shouldn’t you try to be as leaned forward as possible until you feel you may fall over?

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  5 лет назад

      No. If you are lean over to far to where you feel like you will fall over, you will. The key is to have an angle that allows you to accelerate....about 45 degrees. Also if you do feel like your falling over its because your feet are not getting under you hips, and you possibly not popping those knees forward.

    • @Nelybandz
      @Nelybandz 5 лет назад +1

    • @lamrof
      @lamrof 4 года назад +1

      @@coachwelly You know what running with low hip means, correct? I see you (assuming that is you demonstrating) and I see some of the speedy professionals in sprinting and in American football, you run relatively low meaning a lower center of mass, meaning lower hip than the rest I mentioned. Meaning when you contact the ground you could do it with a bit more open Knee flex angle. Look at Jeter, bolt,Deon Sanders and many more.

    I'm a 13 year old girl who's looking to become a proffessional athlete, the thing is with my start against others is that I carry my feet low, but I'm not pushing hard enough it's like I don't have enough strength although the technique is correct. So, in competitions, the other girl's run out instead of push out, they still get out ahead but I catch them up in the end. I don't want to be the one doing the catching, so do you have any suggestions sir? This would be appreciated if you could help...thanks!

      Semantics bub. The term is used in track and field to describe what an athlete does at the start of their race. We teach sprinters how to accelerate correctly. Words have different meanings depending on the context. It is the nature of language. If I told you I had to run somewhere, but I got in my car and drove there, would you say I was using the word run incorrectly? Anyway, that's all for now. I gotta run :)
