    Thank you very much for taking the time to put these videos together. I have been searching for videos I could trust to more fully education me on the intricacies (breakdown) of sprinting to better help my kids in their track and field endeavors. And your series is perfect! Exactly what we need. Their the best sprint technique instructional videos on RUclips. Thank you again.

    Sir your videos have been very effective in demonstrating the concepts and techniques needed for elite level sprinting. I just did a USAFTF lvl 1 cert this weekend which had all the concepts, but no videos. Actually seeing the training in real time is so much better since I need to see it done correctly and be able to diagnose when it's wrong. I'm having all my coaches watch your video series this season. Thank you so much for putting this together and I will recommend your videos to any coach who asks for help.

    I could run in my younger years but left track to play baseball, so I missed out on the detailed and thorough coaching. I now have a daughter (8) and son (6). They both ran track this season and had great success in spite of their coach's lack of basic knowledge of training sprinters. I have watched a large number of videos in the past few weeks to increase my knowledge; then I came across your series. Your style is perfect for me, as you are extremely detailed and leave nothing to assumption. The demonstrations in real time are equally impressive! I am certain I will be able to get the most out of my kids by using your videos as a teaching tool. Thanks for this awesome resource!

Kids seem to be more receptive to someone else besides Dad putting the info out there, and I saw the excitement in my kids eyes just watching this series of videos for the first time. Flying 30, walk back, or 3 minutes.
      Wicket drill, just a walk back.

  • @GetReal505
    @GetReal505 6 лет назад +1

    When doing wickets and flying 30s do you recommend doing only one set of the suggested number of reps? If so how much rest time do you suggest between reps? If doing more than one set, how much rest time is needed between both reps and sets? Also how many times per week do you recommend doing these drills? Thanks

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  6 лет назад +1

      GetReal505 you can do them both in the same session or split them up for individual sessions. Individually in doing 10-15 reps of the wickets. If I am splitting in going 8 wickets to iterate the force, and them do 4-6 flying 30s.

      I don't know why I was just asked to approve a comment from 3 months ago. I am so sorry for the delay. That time very good. I would say at that age, teach the foundation of running properly, but don't make it "Work" just yet. Make it fun now, and get serious as they grow older. Make sense?

  • @patmclean1951
    @patmclean1951 6 лет назад +1

    I’ve just started volunteering with a high school track club. I’m a middle distance guy with some sprint ability. My goal is to teach this kids to love track.
    I’m curious at what recovery times you have between drill sets. Full recovery or an approximate overall time interval.
    For example, would you do your flying thirties on 4:00min overall? Would they be the same direction? Or run both ways. I have roughly 7 kids 9 through grade 12. Just beginning the process of building some cardio with them at the moment.

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  6 лет назад +1

      There is no time frame in that manner. They all run in the same direction, but I have different patterns for different groups. Their rest is typically to walk back until the given number of reps is completed. I ususually have them do something after where full recovery is given. Make sense?

    what is a good time for youth and intermediate girls time for a for a flying 30? im not sure what a good time would be to start with.

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  7 лет назад

      That all depends, but anything faster than 4.5 or better is good for a youth girl, intermediate 4 or faster. I would need to see them run too that would help. Also figure what you project their goal time should be, that would help more.

      @@coachwelly I should explain further? Alright basically during upright sprinting for the leg cycle should I be striking vertically down or striking down and extending the leg or some other variation. If you look at elite sprinters when their in the air their leg is straight in front of them just above the ground and it whips under them. What am I trying to do there whether thats pulling back or what.

  • @-vll-
    @-vll- 4 года назад +1

    Hey hopefully someone can answer this I have a quick question I ran 11.6 in the 100m that was my pr the next day I was very sore and ran it again but got 11.9 and even 12 on the second one does leg soreness make you slower? I get I wouldn’t get 11.6 again but shouldn’t I have least got 11.7? Or does my body need to recover? Because I kinda feel discouraged going from 11.6 to 11.9 so I’m hoping it’s just the soreness and it was a day after but I feel like it should’ve been faster than 11.9 at least

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  4 года назад

      Few questions for you? Was this a race/competition, or did you just go out and run the 100? Did tou warm up well both times. As this a hand time of FAT timing? There could be several factors.

    • @-vll-
      @-vll- 4 года назад +1

      Micheal Wellington it was a actual meet when I ran the 11.6 I felt a way different type of speed but the next day I did the same warmup and everything I was very sore though and I got 11.9 I didn’t feel as much power and speed as the day before someone told me I just need to recover and when I do I’ll be running close to that probably faster but I don’t know if that’s true or not

    • @coachwelly
      @coachwelly  4 года назад

      @@-vll- could've been the quick turn around in competition. But when you get to that point in the season, back to back races are inevitable. You have to be able to get through the rounds.

    • @-vll-
      @-vll- 4 года назад

      Micheal Wellington thank you and one last thing when I run the 100m for the first 60 I’ll be ahead like I have really really good acceleration I can flip the switch in an instant but once I get to around 75 meters every one starts to catch up it’s like I can’t hold my speed too long or I feel like I hit my top speed too early in the race if that’s the case do I need to work on my drive phase or do I need to do ins and outs for maximum velocity work?
