How To: Reduce High Pressure In Your Pool System
In this video we address the common causes of High water pressure in a pool system. System pressure is generally measured from the pool filter pressure gauge. Most systems operate around 10 PSI or slightly higher. Any reading over 20 PSI is considered high and continued operation at these levels puts a strain on your system’s pump and filter. This guide discusses the causes of high pressure and possible solutions to correcting them.
Having a lot of high pressure issues. Cleaned filter, back washed, going to try some of your tips tomorrow. Love your videos.
Will a leak on the suction side effect the pool return flow if it is on recirculation? Taking the filter out of the equation so the air can't get trapped in the housing?
Very good info thank you 🙏
I cleaned the filter. Backwash and rinsed, however it still running between 20 to 30 it goes down to 10 for like a minute the. It shoots right back
This company I’d recommend. They give good service and good prices.
I changed my pump to a Hayward1.5 horsepower, but kept the same sand filter. My pool is an Intex 12x24. Can't get the pressure out the red. Do I need to replace the filter?
I noticed that when I turn on my filter it primes and runs really good but then after 1 hour or so pressure starts to raise up and circulation from return line starts to get weaker and weaker to the point we’re I loose all circulation from pool return and pressure goes up to 30 psi I already fixed my underground pipes from return line and skimmer so now I don’t know what the problem can be ?
How does the water look? Is pool water clear, green, or cloudy?
When was the last time that you backwashed your pool?
@@Inyopools I've been having similar issues. Water is clear and a backwash relieves the pressure but it always rises back up again.
I just replaced the filter cartridges and it made things a bit better but it's still happening.
I have a 7.5 hp pool motor how a get the rigth water seal
Can't say I agree on the air leak. Water is heavier than air thus HARDER to pass through the filter. In other words a higher volume of air will pass through the filter than will water, thus having a REDUCING effect on pressure.
Occasionally, I get an air leak indicated by bubbles coming from the return jets. Pressure isn't affected at all.
If the air relief inside the filter is clogged/block air has nowhere to go. That's why dirty sand filters and de filter always crack. Even cartridge filters crack for same reason
Whenever the pump is turned off should the gauge still read or drop back down to 0psi
It should drop down.
Mine rests at 7 - 10. What are some reasons?
Faulty gauge. Tap the gauge to see if it's stuck. Pretty much impossible for the tank to remain pressurized due to design.
DE Filter and cleaned. water level in pool is good, run pump after and hour or so, psi jumps to 30, no suction in skimmer. When I first start the pump, I do see air bubbles coming out of the pool spa jets, the pump basket I see the water moving inside the lid while I get suction and psi is around 20 or or so, after a while (hour or so) Lose suction in skimmer, psi jumps over 30, pump skimmer basket has no water flow and I do hear a noisy pump, it does make a slight louder noise,
If your set the DE filter's multiport valve to Recirculate or Bypass does the pressure spike keep happening?
@@Inyopools we have an old pool, filter, backwash, waste and spa mode. I'm going to try waste mode in a few days, see if I can vacuum the green on the bottom of pool, suction is still low right now.
take the filter out and run it without it and see if the psi rises, if it doesn't.. it's the filter.. @@slipnorris5882
What is this product exactly? What chemicals would I be adding to my pool water?
what if you have a sand filter
Pressure of our sand filter is high, and this is a new property we just moved in. How can we find out the GPM / HP of the pump and filter?
The HP should be listed on the pump's motor label. The easiest way to determine the GPM is to add a flowmeter to the plumbing. www.inyopools.com/ProductListing/miscellaneous_flowmeters.aspx
Here is a link to a guide that explains another method of calculating the GPM. www.inyopools.com/HowToPage/how_to_measure_total_dynamic_head_with_gauges.aspx
@@Inyopools Oh yes! it's there (1.0 HP). Does that match with the filter which got a label with max flow 190 LPM?
Yes, that would match up with your filter.
Hi how I’m can change the pressure clock my pool pressure it crack the mirro
Apague la bomba. Utilice una llave para quitar el manómetro. Envuelva los hilos del nuevo calibre con cinta de plomero. Instale el nuevo manómetro. Vuelva a encender la bomba. Compruebe si hay fugas.
Hi Dear!! how I can fix air leak
The first task would be to find the air leak, read the guide to get you started: How to Identify and Correct Air Leaks (www.inyopools.com/HowToPage/how_to_identify_and_correct_air_leaks.aspx)
carlos
My pressure is at 30 to 35 always, the pool guy told that is normal, how would I know that is correct
You would have had to check the pressure gauge when the filter media was somewhat new. You can also go through a thorough backwashing or cartridge acid bath cycle and see if the water pressure resets to a lower PSI for a time.
Please help
What about sand filter
If the pressure on your sand filter gauge is high, you can try backwashing the filter. Replacing the sand may be required if you backwash and there is no change in the pressure. It is also possible that the pressure gauge is bad if you are not seeing any fluctuation.
