Thanks all for watching!! 😊
Found, alignment with this device IS KEY, and it seems to be a lot more accurate outside vs inside. And the latest update did help.
Definitely agree. Outside it will be more accurate as the unit receives more data from a longer ball flight. Just like a Trackman really 😊👍🏼
I've had my SC4 for about 6 months and use it exclusively outdoors. A few tips: It needs to be 5' behind the ball and lined up well. The EQ setting is very helpful for range balls and fine tuning data. You need to check frequently for firmware updates by turning on the unit and logging into the app. One more thing, the SWG mode is awesome for speed training. I use it with the Superspeed sticks for swing speed but you can also use it to get ball speeds.
Thanks mate, great comment and really appreciate that. I’ll try out the EQ feature very soon 👌🏼👍🏼
How is the new update? Complaint from I heard was driver numbers are off, but does the new update help with that?
Is there a difference between the 2023 model and 2024 model?
@@christiansarran4692 had a major update and numbers are perfect 👌🏼
@@islandsnow no just the new update that’s came through
I’d love to see an outdoor review. Heard you can adjust numbers through the app to account for wind or range balls. Shot visuals on the app for practice would be great.
Wow didn’t know that but I’ll definitely be hitting the range with the unit for sure 👍🏼
Great video. I'm intrigued about getting this device. I don't have the room to sim golf so I'm looking at something for range work. I am particularly interested in working on my short game and approach shots.
This would be a great device for that 😁
I paid $439USD for my SC4 from their web site in August 2024. so even a better deal...
Well done 👍🏼 👏
Great video. I went to Optishot’s headquarters last summer to try this unit. Almost bought it, but it doesn’t read side spin so I passed on it. When I contacted SC about the side spin, they also said it doesn’t read it.
Yeah it doesn’t but it will use an algorithm of club path to determine the shit shape
Shot shape* that was a bad spell check error lol 😂
@@davidmaxfieldgolf you must have seen video of my swing before this comment 🤣🤣
@@davidmaxfieldgolf😂😂😂
2 questions: Were you using RCT balls for this test? And how accurate were the shot shapes, as that's one problem the Garmin R10 has?
Very happy to see a recent review of the SC4, thank you! Everyone else reviewed it 8 months ago and it seemed to have a big issue with massively over-reading spin. Looks like that might have been fixed in the last few months!
Thanks 🙏 and no you don’t use the RCT balls with the SC4 then in relation to the shot shapes they looked like they were correct. Will know more on that when I test it with e6 👍🏼
@@davidmaxfieldgolf that's great, thank you for the reply! Looking forward to more testing!
Just got the info that it had a major update 3 months ago
@@davidmaxfieldgolf ah that explains it! That's great to hear, love to see companies supporting their products well. Thanks for the followup!
I have this unit. It’s massively more accurate on the range. I use it in my 10 ft net at home. Shot shapes are accurate, numbers are very close to my actual course play. It’s helped me work on my driver and I now get about 30 yards more by using the swing data to make corrections to my swing.
Hi David. Good video but I would say that most of us can’t “tinker” with the setup since we have no other monitor to calibrate it against. Was the unit set up exactly as specified by the manufacturer? After all, that’s what we would be doing on the range 😊 Thanks again.
I had it a little too far back to start, it’s really not difficult to set up at all 👌🏼 actually one of the easier ones out there. The Garmin you need a stand, make sure it’s level, calibrate the unit etc
To be honest. All they need to somehow add is a tinkering adjustment. So if you feel as though your constantly getting 10m difference you should be able to just adjust that in the system for that club. But for $1000 that's pretty good.
There’s really minimal setup that you need to learn. I just had it too far back to start 😁
Hi David. Which combination of launch monitor & app would you use for someone using it in a net in the back garden? ( no space indoors!). This or the Garmin R10? and the native apps or Awesome golf or E6? Thanks for the great videos!
Depends. If you want gameplay then e6 for sure but if you want numbers and coaching then awesome golf. The Sc4 has the edge over the Garmin on the range as you don’t need a phone connected to use the unit. It will still give you numbers like a GC3 or quad
What's the sidespin (shot shape) like? That's usually the main concern with doppler based launch monitors. Got a feeling it will face a tough challenge from the mlm2 with dotted ball.
Will test that more with e6 over the coming weeks 😁👍🏼
it doesn't provide side spin. it only provides shot direction. so it assumes straight shot flight.
Have you reviewed the mevo yet? Would love to get your opinion
A long time ago, not the new one I haven’t.
I have the optishot orbit which is the sc4 with orion software direction of shots seem out distances are good
are you looking to try this software in the future
I haven’t looked into that as yet but I will. If it helps with shot shaping then it can only be a good thing
Is spin and numbers generally better on a range where natural light and space is better?
Depends as range balls will spin differently to real balls
Would you still go the MLM2 Pro over this unit with E6?
They’re really different units. For the range I like this one because you don’t need to connect it to anything in order for the numbers to display on the screen
Does the unit measure (or estimate) side spin for accurate shot shape on the range and in the sim?
It doesn’t measure side spin but it does use an algorithm which to get the benefit of is best used in the range. It does give you launch angle and launch direction though
Could u try an almost golf ball to see if it picks it up. I use one of the two stalls in my garage and prefer better safe than sorry.
It should pick it up but the stats won’t be anywhere near a normal ball
I thought the R10 performed pretty well with the irons at least. Maybe I should stick with the skytrak.
@@user-qx6wt9rz8u none of them will read like a normal ball as the more accurate the units get the more they will tell you how far the actual AGB has gone 😁 you can tweak it with elevation etc but they will never have true numbers like a real ball
When hitting into a net, Is the launch angle alone pointless without path and clubface measures? As in it could launch straight but hook ferociously?
Launch angle is different to launch direction and side spin 😁
@@davidmaxfieldgolf sorry I meant launch direction. Launch directon alone is a bit pointless if you are adding too much curve (figured out by path / clubface) when hitting into a net. As in if launch directon appears stable and you actually are changing path a lot, you may get the impression you're doing well into a net, with this device?
@@KMKM2002 it is still important but yes without the spin axis it won’t be accurate when it comes to shot shape. The launch direction should still be accurate but the shot shape won’t
Can it read swing speed without actually hitting a ball?
Yes 👏 it has a speed training mode
Have u tried the simulator yet. Is it showing draw or fade?
I’ll be doing that very soon
Thank u
Also could u try an almost golf ball to see it picks it up?
Does the SC4 detect short chip shots, such as 20 yards? Thanks
Yes absolutely
@@davidmaxfieldgolf Many thanks, I'd read it has trouble detecting them but think maybe that was prior to the latest updates
Yes new update is really good
By the way it’s $549 but can get it most places for $499.
USD 😁 I’m talking AUD
Or you live in Europe then you pay 700 € 😕
Waste time... Waste money... just forget SC4... SC4 is rubbish...
Total Carry is incorrect... Total carry-Carry= Run distance is around 15~20m in any Spin and Apex...
Launch direction is shown as may the SC4 want to show... even full push or pull, in to our or out to in... it does not show and proper launch direction...
Engineeres in Voice caddie is not professioneral engineer about ballistics.
They do not know what is a Spin, Apex, Launch Direction and correlation between Spin/apex and Run distance...
SC4 is not worthy to buy... Just waste money and time...
everyone is entitled to their opinion
