    To add to this, I want to reiterate that Baby Audio makes great stuff, and Andrew Huang is a BEAST of a creator and a badass musician and now developer. This is not meant to be a blast piece on them whatsoever. I hope this video sells some transit plugins for them. If anything, this video hopefully is a celebration of the incredible forward thinking from Ableton and their amazing software. ALSO FIRST OF ALL. Lol sorry I say "First of all" 3 times in a row, kinda defeats the purpose of saying it haha.

      There's a much older VST by the name of Turnado that Transit shares a lot of concept with. It's basically a multi-fx processor with macro-knobs.

      Hi! Thanks for your tutorials, they're really helpful. I would like to know if you could explain your method for playing electronic tracks live, from the arrangement view to the session view. How do you organize a live set with multiple tracks, how do you export everything properly, and how do you avoid getting lost, etc. Thank you

    I love transit. There's a couple stock presets that are great go-tos for... doing a transition. The one knob transition control is super useful and streamlined not to get in the way of creativity. That's it's entire point.
    That said, this video is amazing. Some of these things in Live I was aware of. But having watched this there's a load I learned that I'll carry in my future productions.

    I feel like the pitch for transit was never “look at what you can do now” and more so “I’m sick of setting this stuff up over and over and I bet you are too”. Like they were always selling the workflow. Plus it seems like there WAS some novel stuff but ableton 12 came out when it was in development and kinda torpedoed it. Great video! Gotta try that shaper trick

  • @Karnnos
    @Karnnos 2 месяца назад +1

    Even though I don't need Transit, the one thing that would actually sell it to me would be the randomize button. You can basically generate infinite number of presets. If you want something very specific than yes - Ableton is more than good enough for that.

    I moved from Cubase to Ableton. I'm happy with my decision. However there are lack of audio analysing tools in Ableton. Cubase's Supervision is very powerful. Does Ableton have a tool similar to Multipanorama (Supervision) analyser? It shows frequency/panorama corelation which is quite important in mixing.

    At the end of the day as you say it's probably a time vs money thing, most people will buy it because they don't have the time or don't want to take the time to setup those macros and fx racks themselves, which is understandable.

    For a second there I thought you changed my life. Started up Ableton and attempted to "configure" the velocity paramater in Modo Drum (changes the way the whole Drumkit is played gradually) - alas, it doesn't work. I'm a sad little camper. I hate that it isn't automateable so much.

    Yeah.. "Right in the Surface editing " is one of advantages of this kind of plugin especially for live performance . Imagine if you have complex and deep rack , and you want to change how the macro behave ( i.e MIN MAX values) for long list of every FX chains ON THE FLY ?.
    Of course there is always MAX 4LIVE solutions to make it efficient but I agree with you about price especially if we already using Ableton or Bitwig .
    There are workaround for DAW like REAPER , but not sure about another ones

    I've been following your channel for a while and really appreciate your videos. Not to undermine the work of A. Huang or Baby Audio as it appears to be a great plugin, but Live easily overcomes this type of plugin effect as demonstrated here. Nowadays I prefer to invest on exploring the tools I have instead available of acquiring new software and gear.

      You’re missing out. Obviously, anything can be done by hand in a DAW.. it’s always been this way.

    Great Video! I definitely am guilty of not taking the time to understand everything Ableton has to offer. I was curious if there are plugins that you think really do add something that Ableton doesn't already offer? I use Pigments a lot and feel like the sounds I can make there I can never quite achieve with Ableton's basic synths. Then again I am quite the passive hobbyist currently...

    • @SeedtoStage
      @SeedtoStage  2 месяца назад +1

      Pigments is in my opinion one of the best plugin synths available from a workflow standpoint. Just like any other synth there isn’t anything it can do that Ableton suite can’t do, BUT the visual nature of the modulation system right in the center is so good. You can see nearly everything from one view. One of the best UI designs in modern music tech imo. I love it so much I made a course for it and that’s the only thing other than Ableton I’ve made extensive education on.

    Yo Anthony, thanks for all the good stuff as always. General plugin philosophy question for yall - I accumulated tons of free plugins and VSTi and an enormous collection of sound libraries and samples. I thought that as long as it's free, I should keep everything for any purpose I might need them for. However, it's taking a lot of storage space and is actually pretty confusing to have so many options available. Would you suggest to get rid of stuff? Or have it available but maybe less accessible?

    not related, but moments in the video made me feel the same disdain i have when i'm working in Ableton myself... does anybody else hate the XY pad on the device window as much as me? it seems so horribly inefficient. i NEVER use it and idk if i've ever seen anyone else use it either lol! i honestly just collapse the device window so it's that narrow strip and i can view more Ableton devices/third-party things in the bar, and i get annoyed when i have to see it again when i open it up for parameters to automate
    i'd love if there was some kind of page/tab system flipping between the XY pad, maybe a "notes" feature i could type something in, larger In/Ouput signal level... ANYTHING would be more useful to me than the XY lol. or maybe you'd tell me it's not an issue and i'm needlessly whining 😂
    anyway, great video! you once again remind me to think differently!
