I got an injury, without falling off. Apparently I rode so much that the vibrations caused a stress fracture in one of my foot bones. And because I kept riding, thinking the pain was just fatigue, the crack in the bone grew larger over time. The lesson, is that while feet hurting is normal when you start to skate to some extent, it might be something more serious, and you should watch for pain that feels like it doesn't "reset" between riding sessions.

I just recently had a bad spill on my board gotta be honest this was the one time I wasn’t wearing a helmet but I ended up only getting road rash due to how I fell. It’s important to know how to fall because if u don’t know how too it can get a lot worse. Luckily I rolled so the only thing scuffed up was my arm nothing else was hurt. The most important thing when it comes to safety in my opinion is how to fall and roll it really reduces damage and doin it well will only get u a couple scrapes no matter the speed.

I was wearing protections and it saved me from getting worst but now I want more and better protections... specially for knees, elbows and shoulder. I also just purchased the hip protection from triple 8 along with their knee and elbow EP 55 and KP 22. Gloves is something im still pondering. i never thought the ones with the puck would be a good idea since the puck makes it impossible to hold the remote but didnt know you could move it down, thats good to know! Thanks again Mr Kwan for an excellent video, you deserve more recognition!

Just got the Meepo AWD Pro, it's a pretty sketchy ride which does force me to wear protective gear even at lower speeds, I longboard with a Landyachtz Time Machine and it's so comfortable that I don't wear protective gear other than wrist guards (I don't go downhill, I don't go fast on it, I have time to land on my protected hands if I need to. If I was going faster than I can push I would *definitely* be wearing a helmet and pads. Only used the wrist guards 3 times during the first week of longboarding years ago, but I do need my wrists to not be broken).
Would recommend wrist guards over just gloves however because ideally you fall onto your hands, with wrist guards you reduce the chance of breaking your wrist.

THis a life FACT. There are people that love to skate and people that love the IDEA of skating. You will know quick which one you are. If you fall, hurt yourself a bit and get right back on without hesitation, guess which one you are? Falling is just a part of skating. Nothing like sliding across the ground at 30mph like you are stealing home because of bad foot placement or too much weight on your back foot. Great video!

Like that you called out gloves with pucks and the adjustments you can make. There is a skate school that teaches you how to fall by sliding on your knee pads and gloves with pucks. Broken controller way cheaper than a broken wrist

Personally I dont think its about how often you fall but about what happens when you fall. I only fell once, still consider my self a beginner .. wanted to move up one of my kneepads while driving .. stupid idea .. started wiggling .. came off balance .. speed to high for my feet. It was a bad fall .. if it wouldnt have been for the helmet, who got a lot of it .. chances are I wouldnt be here today .. or at least in a different way. You only need one crash like that, thats basically it. Dont make this a numbers game .. the odds are against you. Just always wear a helmet.

I literally went flying off my board today lmao, my thigh is all the way fudged lol, but I feel so much safer about how I had my helmet on like for real, if you are not going to wear pads, at least get a helmet!!!!!!

Ah hip pads. I’m here after day 1 with road rash because I was wearing booty shorts and fell off 😮‍💨
I think I’m gonna buy some hip pads

Damn judging from the comments you guys might as well wear an iron man suit. I don't wear anything and I've been fine. I also don't go faster than 10mph and slow down even slower on bumps and corners
