- Congratulations, your VA claim is now ready for decision! This means that VA has completed all necessary steps in processing your VA claim and is now prepared to make a decision on your case. While this may be an exciting milestone, it can also bring about feelings of uncertainty and anxiety.
In this section, we will discuss what happens after your VA claim is ready for decision and provide tips and tricks to help you better understand the decision-making process. We will also offer guidance on how to navigate the final stages of the VA claim process successfully.
Understanding Your VA Claim Decision
Once your claim is marked as "ready for decision," the VA will review all of the evidence and information gathered throughout the claims process. This includes any medical records, service records, and other documentation that you have submitted.
The VA may also schedule a Compensation & Pension (C&P) examination for you to attend. During this examination, a healthcare professional will evaluate your disability and provide an opinion on how it affects your daily life and ability to work. This exam is essential in helping the VA make an accurate decision on your claim.
Tips and Tricks for Your VA Claim Decision
Be Patient: The decision-making process can take several months, so try not to get too anxious or frustrated while waiting for a decision. Remember that the VA is processing thousands of claims and wants to make sure they give each case the proper attention.
Keep Track of Deadlines: Depending on your situation, you may need to submit additional evidence or attend a C&P exam by a specific date. Make sure to keep track of these deadlines and follow through with any necessary tasks to avoid delays in your claim.
Understand the Decision Letter: Once the VA has made a decision on your claim, they will send you a notification letter explaining their decision and how they arrived at it. Take the time to read this letter carefully and make sure you understand all of its components. If anything is unclear, do not hesitate to reach out to a VA representative for clarification.
Navigating the Final Stages of Your VA Claim
At this point, your VA claim has either been approved or denied. If it has been approved, congratulations! You will receive your first payment shortly. If it has been denied, do not lose hope. You have the option to appeal the decision and provide additional evidence to support your claim.
If you choose to appeal, be sure to follow the proper procedures and meet all necessary deadlines. This can increase your chances of a successful appeal. You can also seek assistance from a Veteran Service Organization (VSO) or an experienced attorney who specializes in VA claims to help you with the appeals process.
The VA claim process may seem daunting and overwhelming, but remember that you are not alone. There are many resources available to help guide you through each step of the process. Be patient, stay informed, and don't give up on fighting for the benefits you deserve as a veteran. We hope this guide has provided valuable information to assist you in navigating your VA claim successfully. Keep up the good work and continue advocating for yourself!

Man I really wish he’d let this guess talk and finish before interrupting him! I really wanted to hear what he has to say fully!
125 days seems to be the current magic number for getting your temp jurisdiction and rater. Then it’s a matter of a few weeks for final approval.
I was in that situation. I logged in to my VA account just to see if I could find any new info. and looked at the documents for my claim. I was totally blown away when I found my decision letter online. I won my TDIU claim! I got my letter by mail about 1 1/2 weeks later. Then a boat load of back dated claim cash was deposited into my bank account!
Congratulations 🎉
How long was the process from the time of receipt until the decision was posted?
@@MH-hc7xq Right at 6 months, very fast for the VA. I did file 22 documents with my claim, I filed stuff they already had because I heard they don't go back and look at what's on file. I had the Independent Employment Evaluation, quite extensive and Lay statements from wife and former co-worker to verify my PTSD issues. I filed multiple documents via VA E-File as I was forced to retire from Civil Service due to PTSD issues. I had a Letter of Counseling for that as well. My goal was to make my claim as air tight as possible, suggest everyone do the same. Combat Craig has multiple video's on claims and PTSD / TDIU is well covered.
@@MH-hc7xq 6 months, fast for the VA
Outstanding
I had a claim processed and done in 35 days and I have a current dependency claim that has taken over 6 months. There is no rhyme or reason to the VA and the process.
Call the Whitehouse Hotline and see if they can get it moving.
I had a biased C&P examiner last month and called them. They had me in front of a new examiner within a week.
From a 0 to 70% without waiting for an HLR or appeal. Definitely worth a shot.
Hey, call and request to have it expedited to your regional office. My buddy did that. He submitted his dependency claim for his wife back in January, he called a couple of weeks ago and they expedited it and told him he could request it that way.
His wife is Filipino and doesn’t have a social so he told them that after they sent a letter requesting her social so right now in a week from step 3 to now step 4.
What’s the # you called to get the dependency status sped up? Thanks for sharing, this is really encouraging!
Contact your representatives and demand that the Veterans Administration be overhauled! I am so tired of the political climate of the VA and the people that work there.
Great info. Thanks for pulling back the curtain on the process once again.
You bet!
Thanks, guys. Bottom line is over prepare with evidence, carefully word every sentence, send the Claim, then wait. I'm glad I used Combat Craig's Boot Camp!
Thanks Donald! You rock man!
This guy's PTSD is so bad he added a voice scrambler 😅
He didn’t answer how many days he has once it hits their desk.
I would love to hear that also. I figure there has to be some timeline requested of them per each status step. Would make sense as to part of why it gets kicked back to the former steps if it goes passed those timelines. They have production quotas so I imagine they have timeline quotas as part of the performance measurements also? It’s all a shot in the dark really. But it is nice to hear from someone who’s been on that side of things
So basically, the veteran is shot in the foot?
My current claim has been at RFD for about a month. When I call they tell me it hasn’t been assigned. I’ll keep calling and calling.
Same here. Good luck .
@@brandonwalker3755 you too
@@brandonwalker3755 they ended up scheduling me for another C&P now I’m back at Reviewing Evidence
Any word?
Waiting Game 4 1/2 years. Two service connections, multiple secondaries. Hang Tough
I went from gathering to complete in one day
Must have been a very simple one and some rater just grabbed it from the NWC because of that.
WOW! That’s incredible!
Filed 2 increases and 2 secondaries. 9 DBQ’s were sent to VA by the VES contracted examiner. I’m clueless as to why so many. Currently in step 5. Trying to stop thinking about it, it’s impossible!
I always say, everybody wants a job, but nobody wants to work. The government doesn't seem to care or to take notice on just how bad the V.A. is at doing what they're supposed to be doing for veterans. These unconscious delays are inexcusable. They just literally don't care. One lady told me, "We're working on it, it's just not going to be done as soon as you want it to be done". What does that mean when there's absolutely no timetable anywhere for these guys to do their job in any kind of timely manner.
It’s so stressful the uncertainty of waiting. Step 5 Rating, can take who knows how long, then the preparing letter and final review etc. Anyone recently filed a claim with insight on how long steps 5-8 took?
In my opinion if the issue is proven service connected that should be the end of discussion and issues like they lost your medical records should be an automatic decision in your favor.
Craig you need to buy or purchase some good equipment for your guy.
I agree
😆
Started May 11th and went to step 5 on Aug 26th. Hopefully not much longer.
C&P Exam complete 21 August, DBQ’s finished being sent to VA 7 September, my status went to both Evidence Review and Rating on 7 September also. Hopefully it gets rated and approved soon! Rooting for us both!!

I had a remand in the middle of Nov 23. I gave VA the things they wanted and in the middle of Dec 23 was told my claim is in the decision phase. Haven't heard anything since.

Thanks for the info. Can you do a video on presumptive conditions within one year of separation? I haven’t seen much info on thix
Sure thing!
The 800 # told me I was in phase 5 of secondary decision phase. There’s 2 stages inside of stage 5 is what they told me.
I didn’t know that was a thing. That’s helpful to know. The regular 1-800 # told you that?
Did they name the two stages?
My claim has been saying records research task for 8 months now I have no idea what that is. Every month it says another 30days
Go and visit your congressman. Seriously, have them to send a letter to the VA on your behalf.
35 days so far on mine
What step are you in?
Thanks for the upload

Hey, Combat Craig, would you be so kind as to share your video export settings? Your video quality is pristine.
I love getting this insight from the former rater. So valuable to get to hear the behind the scenes process on that end of things. Thanks so much for having him on and hope to see more of these videos! Thank you Combat Craig!!

How do I get a copy of my medical records for my service time. Can I access my records online?
Dude you need to invest little bit towards better equipment. Its annoying listening to echos
I finished my 2 DBQs and they closed my review and I have no idea what the decision is.. last DBQ was on 7/12 and was closed on 7/23 but nothing is posted

Great video. Thank you for pulling back the curtain to and having someone on that can break down the bureaucracy.
My BVA Remand Claim PTSD-MST Related is waiting on a “Second Signature “ what ever that means. Just reached out to my congressman to do a congressional inquiry on what the hold up is about the judges orders on medical evidence he wanted the RO to look at Jan 2024.
